  4. Thinking on this, I came to the conclusion that if money was no object the last thing I'd consider would be a Combo! A combo by its very nature is a Buch of compromises in order to fit into the combo format. That said I do love my Ampeg B15NF!

  7. Just a quick question can you change whole signal paths/patches whilst a loop is playing on the Looper function? Saw an interesting video about using a looper/TC Wiretap to aid in getting the right sound out of a device rather than playing and fiddling on the fly and wondered if you could use the looper in the same way.
  8. Funnily enough we’ve done all 3 songs with my acoustic duo. My mate who plays guitar with me told me the Gilbert O’Sullivan track featured Big Jim Sullivan on guitar - it is a beautiful solo. 😊

  10. I need something that can handle a huge amount of volume... maybe the Eich BC212 will be something to try for me. Main problem is that I live in the arse end of nowhere and I'm also mindful that going somewhere like Bass Direct, etc. to say "eerrrhhhh I need to really crank this at full volume while using multiple delay pedals, reverb, a Darkglass Alpha Omega while hitting an open B, fifth octave very hard" may not go down all that well with Mark.
  11. The first two definitely sound more StingRay. The other two sound more like a P bass I would say. None of them sound like a Jazz to my ears.

  16. It Just needs a shim under the bottom of the neck heel to tilt the neck forward and the action will be fine.

  18. Proper aged relic work. Many people pay extra for that kind of thing on basses. Yours was free apart from the work put into playing. Looks very nice, not that i play DB but i do appreciate the skills involved. Dave
  19. This bass is the same. I have used it on over 50 gigs so far and it's been flawless. I play bluegrass too, so I think you're right. Few dings and dongs won't harm it!

  22. I’ve made mine passive by swapping in an EMG GZR p/u. So it’s now a lightweight passive p-bass with a jazz neck, a clever bridge and a monster sound! £400 for a VS4 is a bargain.

As I am sure you are aware, it is because all this modern music is just boom boom boom and you don't need a good bass for that Or maybe it is because older music was made by fewer people, who happened to be good, like all the motown song were actually only played by small numbers of musicians, with a large output, whereas in the 80s there was a much larger democracy of players, some good, some bad, and a large number of them only playing the bass because they were the worst guitarist. Then of course, music died in the 90s, and it was just whatever the TB303 put out
  24. A few years ago I made a guitar for my guitarist. He was so nervous when he first got it, that it was a relief when he finally put the first dint in it and could relax. Since then he has played it so much it is "mojoing in" nicely. It looks great even with the wear and seems to sound better at every outing (though I do say so myself!)
