knicknack started following NBD... it's a CBS era restoration!

Ever since seeing Daryl Jones with the stones years ago I've longed for a matching headstock 1969 Competition Mustang. A few have appeared here but never at the right time, and the prices have been climbing steadily! Unexpectedly this barely playable example wandered into my local shop, and after 2 weeks of discussions it's finally mine. As you can see, an early 80s slightly ropey refin hides what we think is originally a 'Competition Burgundy' (Lake Placid Blue). I'm thankful they did, as it made it almost affordable for me. The headstock has been done in hearing aid beige for some bizarre reason, otherwise I'd be tempted to leave as is. . Aside from the finish, she seems remarkably original, and now the truss rod is moving and I have fitted some old flats, it's every bit the bass I was looking for. So now, with the help of Eternal Guitars on the south coast, we have started on a mission to restore the original finish. We'd love to know for sure which colour it was originally but there doesn't seem to be a way to find out. Any wisdom welcome, as the stripping is underway!

Broadly speaking plant and animals that colonised and established naturally are considered native. Those that csme to th UK with human assistance are deemed introductions. Sycamores and rabbits were both brought by (probably) the Romans, and are considered introductions. Recent natural arrivals are considered 'colonisers - storks gor example. Once established and self-sustaining spevies are considered 'naturalised'. Invasive Non Native Species tend to cause problem. Often because without their usual predators and diseases they can dominate and damage existing ecosystems. Some introductions and, more usually, reintroductions are often seen as beneficial... beavers... but can be controversial. There are other categories: native, denizens, endemics... These should be objective terms but obviously humans tend to put value judgements on things. So colonising Asian hornets are "bad"... -

Another pedal I am selling on behalf of my predecessor in my band who passed away last year. His widow is wanting help with clearing out some of his considerable music stuff. I'm afraid I know nothing about this pedal !! It is in as new condition though, and comes with original power supply, and (I'm assured!) the original box too. Postage at cost for the UK. Any queries for more pics then message me, likewise offers may be considered too. Cheers. Some info here - https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2022/11/26/gear-review-panda-audio-future-impact-v3-pedal/

There’s lots more than seen, but I’ve been collecting since I was a kid…. In the 70’s. lol.

Another pedal I am selling on behalf of my predecessor in my band who passed away last year. His widow is wanting help with clearing out some of his considerable music stuff. This is in virtually as new condition, and comes boxed with the power supply and some bumf / stickers etc. I believe it was purchased from Bass Direct a few years ago, but looks little used, if at all. Link to the manual here. https://www.zikinf.com/manuels/radial-tonebone-bassbone-manuel-utilisateur-en-70721.pdf Postage at cost to the UK. Cheers.

Pictures to follow later today. For sale is my barely used Valeton Bass Dapper in the original box with PSU and mini manual. I've used it maybe 3 to 4 times at home only and it was originally purchased to use as a DI into the PA. Now that I'm winding down and getting rid of stuff, this is up for grabs. It has several components, most of which are clones of well known gear: - Tuner - Compressor/boost - Envelope filter - Drive - Octaver - Chorus - XLR DI output and an effects loop £60 including UK postage.

Yes, that's the new reality - Mexican specialist Fenders are now around 1400. American Ultra II is now about £2200. Prices of basses (same as everything else) have gone mad. Seems a little heavy - my 2016 Elite Ash Jazz is a shade under 9, apparently. Must be all that iron work she has in the talent inhibitors. -

In the Thomann images, these have Made in China on the headstock, rather than Indonesia.

I'm the same and for similar reasons. The beat drives the song along and the keys add something extra and helps it build towards the end. But oh, that Mandocello in the first video. Such a gorgeous sound. 🙂

I've got a Vintera Telecaster Bass and it's a hard pickup to define. It's not overly muddy, certainly has more focus to it than my old EB-3, but it's not as articulate as a P Bass. It drives my amp with very little effort. "Built for power, not for speed" is how I saw them described once.

The vibrato mechanism on the Barracuda essentially became a fixed bridge once I fitted Newtone Axion Bass VI strings. -

I was going to joke that it started with tolex peel, but the description confirms that’s exactly how it started! Sanded the front grille on auto-pilot too, ffs! And gone through the laminates in a couple of spots on the carcass. Damn, what a waste. -
