  2. Isn't it funny that every time i see a Ric bass in the pics my first thought is "Ooohhh a Ric bass". Maybe i need to get one. 😂 Dave
  3. My BlackIce started life a TS9 but evolved into something more. Most of the people who use it have it always on
  4. For sale is the amazing sounding Khan VTDI Tube Preamp/Di. These are made by Obeid Khan who designed the original Ampeg SVT-DI, and he said this the same but with some refinements and improvements to it It sounds fantastic as you’d expect - really great tube warmth to your sound, it’s not huge like the Reddi and can mounted on a pedalboard or used in the studio, I’m not going to try and sell you on it - it’s a real top end piece of gear at a decent price, I bought it on here a few months ago for £450, it has a few scratches on it and a small chip off the paint on the front but there’s no dents in the metal enclosure and it’s far from looking rough, I just wanted to mention them as it’s not in completely brand new condition I’ve enclosed a pic of it next to an Aguilar ToneHammer and a HX Stomp XL so you get an idea of what sort of size you’re looking at. Comes with its own power supply Price is £395 inc special delivery Cheers Video👇 Pics 👇
  5. Forgotten again …, id like to try a valve amp …
  6. I bought these and put them on my bass. I actually loved them: big loud sound loads of projection easy on the hands However, I am getting rid of them because: they don’t work well with my Krivo magnetic pickup (they work, but not well). They don’t work well with the bow and I suddenly started to need that. Anyone thinking about trying these strings? Make me an offer … they literally went on my bass, I tried them and then they came off a few days later. Never been gigged. As you may know, they are fairly expensive new …
  7. That falls into unreasonable expectations in my book. I back onto a pub car-park. We get doors slammed, occasionally people fighting, lots of noise as people arrive and leave during the Sunday lunch rush, a bit of noise carry from the garden on the other side of the carpark. Most of it can be easily ignored. One day some of the locals decided to move one of the benches down the carpark outside my fence (because it was jn the sun), started swearing and throwing cigarettes over the fence. That is not reasonable. That resulted in a robust face to face confrontation where I was told "You moved next to a pub, what do you expect?", and I told them (the above), explaining that I moved next to a pub carpark, not a pub, and that my small children were listening to the swearing, and having cigarettes thrown at them and their trampoline. Some red-faces, sweary people apologised and moved the bench back into the pub garden. But some people are really over-sensitive and a precident has been set where pubs have been refused licences. Bad reporting in the press has resulted in people thinking they have the right to complain about reasonable noise.
  8. The Pirate studios we use have CCTV in every room, as well as the kitchen/Toilet areas. So we assume things are monitored.
  9. Just bought a pickguard from Daniel. It arrived in quick time and was very well packaged. Many thanks again Daniel
  10. Wowzers! I do not play guitar in anger, and already have WAY too many. But that is proper funky!
  11. In another ad, I'm selling a wonderful bass, a copy of the Fodera Monarch made by my friend from martch.pl. The bass is a few years old but in new condition, with no signs of wear. It was custom-made for me. I highly recommend it. Great bass.
  12. Price reduced to £70 plus postage.
  13. I know it's a lot of money (at least for me) and it's a serious purchase, so I'd like to talk only to people who are seriously interested in buying it... My ad isn't a request for help in identifying what kind of guitar it is, but rather a sale of a specific bass. I didn't inherit this guitar and don't know anything about it, I've only been collecting basses for about 20 years... I think I know quite a lot about them... to put it mildly.
  14. well, as I wrote... I kindly ask seriously interested people to contact me and I will receive all the necessary information...
  15. When stripped, if it has a nice wood grain, i would tru-oil it

  17. Never mind their head office. Whoever the OP spoke with was obviously following their policy, so they won't be bothered. Inform the local authority and the fire service and don't do so anonymously. Give dates, times, etc. I'm sure they would be very interested to learn the company asked a customer to disable a fire alarm. If they've already banned you, you have nothing to lose. Forget the hand-wringing over a bit of swearing. That's obviously their way of trying to justify themselves.
  18. Reminds me of a gig I did aaaages ago where the sound guy was quite aggressively insistent that I plug my bass straight into his very ordinary £50-ish DI box, and then take the link-out from that to my pedalboard and amp. Main problem being that I had a Drop pedal on my board at the time, which would have meant that had I agreed, half the set would have been in the wrong tuning through the PA. The concept didn't seem to bother him at all. When I'd finally made him understand that I wasn't going to use his DI (I'm still not sure he grasped why...) he still wouldn't take the feed from the Sansamp on my board, and instead angrily set up an SM57 on the cab.

  21. Been using the VTDI for 5+ years, tried a couple of alternatives and still see no reason to change it. It sounds great, it's tiny and runs off standard 9v PSU or battery if you're travelling super light. You can also turn the speaker sim off if you like.
  22. Small update, the neck pocket has been cleaned out. Unfortunately, that means it's a tad too deep and a tad too wide. So will be building it back up with wood veneer, which should hopefully be arriving today. Also suspect that the screw holes were drilled out by hand and are at rather jaunty angles, so I'm going to check that and if it's too far out of wack, gonna fill those for subsequent redrilling.
