That's what I found: https://web.archive.org/web/20060504210453/https://bashkov2.narod.ru/giblin.htm I'm not quite sure whether it's authentic since there's hardly any other stuff on the Internet to compare with. I wonder if here's someone who knew him personally.

800km is insane. knowing my luck I’d have left my keys and have to drive back. Glad the bass is sorted. I alway love the feeling when your bass has been set up and playing well.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

I must be naïve, as I've only ever known "growler" as slang for a pork pie..... -
The contrast in these posts is getting quite serious! I'm in danger of retreating into BassChat Cats for some reassuring content!

What a bloody brilliant show, thanks again to @AndyTravis for the mega help and @LukeFRC for bringing some apple shaped sustenance. I can't promise to bring such high profile 'rock stars' to every show but Andy will always be there! Wonder who I can get to come to the London shindig in October 🤔 VJ from Kaisers is a super cool cat and top guy, bought a bass from me during covid times and sorted me out tickets and backstage beers to after shows too, and JMJ I've chatted too for years about weird and wonderful basses. and the stars aligned to get him to rock up to a Village Hall in the outskirts of Leeds! Weird how things work out. He's coming to the studio at the weekend too. Just back from a mega old valve amp collection to Wales. Well played everyone!

Behringer announce Bass Brassmaster Fuzz, err, tribute!
Cosmo Valdemar replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
I can't help you I'm afraid, I only have the Behringer and some homemade clones. -
This 100% There are very few physical guitar shops left. If you live near one, you're lucky. The alternative is just taking a punt and moving it on if it doesn't suit. As long as it hasn't cost a huge amount of money it's no great loss or disappointment. Cort make nice, budget guitars.

That band do get up to some strange antics. Looks like a fun band tho. Dave

Before trying home remedies (some of which are great advice) check with the audiologist that fitted the moulds. It may have turned out a fraction too large and cause pressure.

"Growler" was the official name for the bonnet emblem up until the JJ rebrand in 2024. Let's hope Elon Musk doesn't buy Jaguar, he'd bring back the "Swallow Sidecars" name and the "SS" emblem. -

hey Cosmo, so… I’ve owned a germanium Malekko b:Assmaster and sold it stupidly, then bought the standard silicone Malekko b:Assmaster and sold that too. I thought the silicone was harsher and more aggressive/spluttery than the germanium version which was smoother and warmer. I regret selling it. i see you also have the latent lemon version… I was thinking about getting their green germanium version. What’s your opinion of the latent lemon ones compared to the Malekko? They’re Easier to get, or should I wait to find a Malekko on sale? And then the big question… has behringer nailed it with their new version ? Is it as good as the malekko/latent lemon? -

Each to their own? P.S.: in my opinion, it's a shame that speaking of famous fretless players, nobody ever talks about John Giblin. Does somebody know whether he played flats or rounds?

Is this the end for the boutique bass?

Absolutely no offence taken! When should we schedule our fisty-cuffs?? 🥊 -
Great wee thing I literally just bought new, because I thought I was going to use it in my workshops with primary schools, alas…everyone likes the double bass better, so I’m selling the Kala. I was amazed at how good this sounds, especially since I pair it with Flatwound strings (that cost me £65!)… only tiny imperfection is a hairline mark that does not even go through the varnish (photographed). Comes with original foam bag, in original box, with the original round wound strings shoved in the bag as well, in case you prefer them to flats. postage no problem (UK only).

The earliest known examples of the lyre have been recovered at archeological sites that date to c. 2700 BCE in Mesopotamia. (OK, this sure is vintage, not some surf board.) Baroque, flourished from the early 17th century until the 1750s. (I think this old instruments may carry the sticker "vintage", too.) According to Wiki there seems to be some 4400 years in between these two.
