  1. Past hour
  2. I might read the above like: Two speakers from the same manufacturer that look the same but have different impedances are two different speakers. Depending on the amp it is hard to say which speaker is really louder. Lower impedance may be harder load for the amp and therefore higher impedance cab can be even louder.
  3. Another top drawer transaction from Mick. Superspeedy delivery too. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - he's a class act.
  4. It’s definitely the lightest stingray 5 that I’ve ever played!
  5. So in real world experience this wouldn’t appear much louder to the listener ??
  6. Oh man, I've been looking out for one of these for a couple of years now. No chance of getting down south for it though. Great looking bass!
  7. I'd Rather Be Alone — Jeff Tweedy
  8. Learning the bits is done. Working on the timing. Not sure I'll ever get the 'touch'.
  9. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - The Shirelles
  10. I reviewed one of these in 2007 for Basschat (see here), as well as bought one a couple of years ago. Superbly overspecced, you should be asking twice this price at least.
  11. This week: 1. What You Know by 2 Door Cinema Club Plectrum, clean, touch of Chorusaurus. 2. Just a Day by Feeder Plectrum, DP-3x bi-amp mix setting, touch of Chorusaurus. I'd not heard this before, it's a good un for getting a tone of your own. I have to learn my vocal bits too. Rehearsal tomorrow, gig next week.
  12. Thru Neck Sandwich... Nice Lines... Coffee Table Top... Usually Wilkinson Pickups and Hardware... J (J)MM Combo makes a change from PJ... Already wearing a few £ of Ti Flats Thats loads of Bass for £100! Maybe tooo much as they can be weighty - Son has a Vintage Bubing Fretless.
  13. South West England. Nr Exeter
  14. That's lovely - IG650, just like the one in the catalogue. Hope you saw my link upthread for the Hohner/Moridaira guitars FB page!
  15. It's not about watts, it's about voltage sensitivity. That's 3dB higher with 4 ohms, so with the same amp settings the 4 ohm speaker will be 3dB louder, assuming all the other T/S specs are the same, which they seldom are. 3dB is audible, but just. As for maximum SPL that's mainly determined by the cone displacement, T/S spec Vd. If Vd is the same maximum output will be the same, again if all the other specs are the same, which they seldom are. The 3dB increase in voltage sensitivity comes at the cost of drawing twice the current, which some amps don't deal with very well.
  16. Blockbuster by The Sweet for a local covers band....
  17. That looks a lot of bass for the money. GLWTS
  18. Thanks for replying to a zombie thread. It's much appreciated. Bartolinis have intrigued me for a really long while. And, yes, Freddy Jackson appearing on SBL with his OG 8S really opened my ears to consider Barts. The Classic version (8CBP) would probably be the best fit for me as I do like the option of going bright (especially with some of the gigs I've been doing as of late). I am intrigued by the need to tame the Bart Beast as, on paper, they seem to have a modest DC Reading (9.2k). That said, DC readings are not the real world and there are things like resonant peaks to consider that my thick brain can only just about make sense of. Please tell me more. You had me at smooth and creamy. Do you feel that the 8CBP might be to 'beastly' (for want of a better word) to handle rounds? Also, I am pleased to read that your knee is better. I reckon the Barts had a part to play in your recovery.
  19. If I recall correctly we tried this at a Bass Bash once, same bass and 4ohm amp into the same cabs, both 4 & 8ohm versions. Again from recall no real noticeable volume difference but the 4ohm cab sounded more “alive” in comparison.
  20. Still for sale ?
  21. Today
  22. my first bass back in the day ..
