Can you show us a pic of the neck to see the inlays please?
-
Thanks @Chienmortbb Most of our gigs are open air or churches, etc. and the headset is fine. But we do a Christmas show of pre-1900 carols every year and the last two years that's where we've had awful feedback problems. This year I think I'm just going to rough it and go back to conventional mic.

Also, please do not destroy those grilles. They have not been available for two decades now, and impossible to find on the used market. -

What batteries do you use in your Sterling?

Sterling Ray34 by Musicman -
Adding to possibly the mightiest feedback thread in BC history. Nik bought a book from me and is a top man!

Are you talking about EBMM Musicman Sterling or Sterling by Musicman? I always remember Duracell being recommended by Musicman so that's what I always used but if they sit really tight in the compartment then it could explain why I had to change the battery box on my 2016 EBMM Sterling as the bass would completely cut out at times. -

Nice work on 1st and 4th Josh, 2nd and 3rd appear to have no sound on my device? Either way, lovely playing. Baritone is such a glorious instrument -
Bought a tshirt from me in a seamless (ha ha) transaction. Sean is a recommended Basschatter.

I thought I would have a go at some early Joe Jackson songs, started on Different For Girls, lovely tune and reasonably easy to learn. The next one was Stepping Out, flippin eck, this is way beyond my capabilities, bass players must get a real feeling of satisfaction when they crack this one.

Thanks guys. I'm going to get everything ready to assemble the bass then do the body. I'm fitting a rosewood neck from a '95 Mex P bass, pre-CBS Gotoh tuners, Fender hi-mass bridge, Aerodyne PJ pickups and just using chrome knobs as the control cavity is rear routed. I've got a solderless Jazz bass harness as I'm useless at soldering! Once I have things more organised I'll start a build thread. Cheers Paul

Baffle cut and cab screwed together,( will glue and screw when happy everything fits ) Back panel cut , just need to wait for when the neighbours are out to check for any buzzing or rattles .

So our hearing will survive into the new year at least. Small mercies I suppose. π¬

Personally, I wouldn't do that on this bass. I would do exactly what @Hellzero suggests. If you try to lower the bridge as a whole, you will need to chisel/rout both into the neck extension AND the body sides to accommodate the two bridge 'wings'. I would shim it under the bridge, say 1mm, bolt the neck back on, sand/chisel the neck extension back flat with the body, string it and see where the action is. If it's still too high, take the neck off again, add another shim, bolt it back and flatten the bridge wedge again. Externally, the bass will look exactly the same as it did originally - which is not the case if you try to sink the whole bridge into the body.

Hi all, Iβve been working on a little side project playing baselines on the baritone sax. keen to get any feedback, ideas, inspo from any bass players / Bari sax players. most of all just having fun but would be cool to set up a YouTube channel with full songs and provide sheet music.
