  1. Past hour
  2. It’s a bass vi (30”) just currently tuned as a baritone…🥸
  3. NSVM graduate (just!) here, class of 1984. Shocked to hear this. I really hope the school is allowed to keep going forward. It's a valuable and remarkable institution. Please keep us updated, Floyd. Wishing you and everyone the very best with the campaign. Rick
  4. I still come across a few venues with a really noisy light... in one it's the main stage light, so Jazz bass with both pups on max all night!
  5. Did someone let children in? They’ve hung their 3:4 sized toy bass amongst your other worthy instruments just checking it’s not April 1st today
  6. After The Gold Brush — Neil Young
  7. White Broom - Cream
  8. Older drivers were not very good. Nowadays most are flickerless (400 Hz dimming is pretty common). They do not pollute surroundings that much anymore, although some chinese brands are not so well performing.
  9. I like the way the advert didn't mention ipads on stands, but since someone mentioned them the thread has been well and truly derailed 😄
  10. Read 'em and Sweep - Meatloaf
  11. I think it’s horses for courses, Motörhead, Guns N Roses, Sex Pistols, for bands like that crib sheets & iPads just aren’t “the look”. Now people could take a pop and say well that music isn’t difficult, wouldn’t be needed, well prob not except the Slash parts.
  12. Love In A Vacuum - 'Til Tuesday
  13. I may choose to visit the statue at Hellfest in France rather than Stoke on Trent. It does look really good though.
  14. Nice little day in the studio, guiding for the album…
  15. Hoover dam. Bob Mould
  16. Lightweight 115 cab; originally part of a two-piece combo, but without the amp now. It’s not in pristine condition, so it was excellent for my pub band (now folded). 17kg - you can carry it with one hand. 500w @ 4ohms. Tilts back. 15” neodymium speaker. Always-on tweeter. Mainland UK delivery £20
  17. I am not a masshoosive fan of Frank Zappa although I very much respect his artistry. He took the whole thing into areas where no-one else dared to go and his musicianship and compositional acumen are undeniable but I sometimes think he forgets to make thing beautiful and overemphasises the ‘cleverness’ of it all. I also came to it late so I was elsewhere in terms of my headspace so maybe I didn’t give him a fair listening. This track is an exception, of course, and I always think of it as Zappa’s ‘hit single’. The part is a tough read because there are a few ‘odd’ notes in there (I would go as far as to say they are wrong/poor choices but you can’t be sure with Zappa!). This is the bass part (as far as I could figure it out from the mix) to ‘Peaches En Regalia’ from the 1969 Zappa album ‘Hot Rats’. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/peaches-en-regalia-frank-zappa/
  18. Any school that teaches hand craft skills should be kept alive at any price. A certain school pretty close to me was at the verge, but it managed through hardest times (Covid etc.). After about three years ago a local company was founded, and now the school has trouble to push enough of pupils through the courses that this company needs. Other companies have found these skilled people, too. Keep it up! Don't let far east to be the only source of knowledge and skills.
  19. Don’t go poking around creating new problems. Surrey Amps is fully qualified to service your amp correctly, I can work with them directly to solve the problem. If you create new problems, the cost is sure to go up,
  20. Today
  21. So want to see Chronixx, modern sound, roots heritage ❤️💛💚 Other news, IbanezEHB now with Aguilar PU’s, and GHS flatwound...skankin sweet, irie 😎
  22. Some of the more observant among you might recognise this beauty from the Bass Bros competitions website, from where I was lucky enough to win it a few months ago. Unfortunately I’m expecting my new SP-1 shortly, so I've gotta raise funds and this was kinda surplus to requirements as I already have an NG2 5 and a D-Roc 4. The bass itself was almost as new when I got it. There were a couple of very minor scuffs on the headstock, the writing on the back plate had mostly rubbed off, and at some stage the original owner must have lost one of the battery compartment magnets, and decided to double-down when fixing it. So where there were 2 magnets now there are 4! it plays like a dream and delivers all you would expect from the Darkglass pre. It’s also worth noting that it sounds immense in passive mode too! If it wasn’t for the imminent arrival of the new Dingwall I’d be more than happy to hold onto this. I am based in Belfast and would prefer collection, but happy to box up if you want to arrange a courier at your own expense. Comes with Dingwall soft case with wrench kit. Open to reasonable offers but no swaps please!
  23. A process of elimination is the best port of call… Do you get the buzz with the pedalboard powered up but all pedals bypassed? If so, start removing one pedal at a time from the set up. In theory, eventually you’ll find the one lowering the noise floor of the setup and probably amplifying the hum in your pickups. As we know that no pedalboard means no noise, at some point you’re going to find the culprit. If you get to a funny point where all pedals are out and you’re basically just powering a switcher, then we can look at other options. The pedals are well powered and isolated, but it doesn’t stop two random pedals refusing to play nice together. As a side note, I also had some noise issues using a gig rig generator and isolators on a larger set up in the past. It was always one random pedal being a pest. Report back after the elimination test is done. Would be great to get a proper run down of the signal chain as well if you are still having the issues (also, solderless patch cables? Another thing I’ve found a cause of random noise!).
  24. Are you playing nearby a router or anything WiFi?
  25. Big thanks from me too! It was a great day and I wish I could have stayed just a bit longer. So many cracking basses....
