    Agreed. I wish all my Spectors' bridges were as close to the edge of the body as possible, even if sacrificing high fret reach. Which issue I, as a cellist student turned to bass player never understood, cellos don't have cutaways still you have to reach up high if you have to play notes there. (Full disclosure: I do understand it can be an issue for some, but if I ever play around and over the 20th fret is 99% tapping which overrides the cutaway issue FOR ME)

    Look at the dispersion angle of the speakers and the distance apart. Generally straight ahead with a slight toe-in. Too much cross-fireing will increase reflections and cause dead spots at the side of the front.

    I’ve been playing short scales for a long time. Started off with Danelectro Longhorns, and still got one. More recently it’s been a Squier Jaguar, Sire U5 ( which I’m going to sell on here soon, plug plug), Fender Kingman v2, as well as really short ones such as Taylor and Ibanez acoustics. I still use long scale basses but must admit I’m finding the shorties that bit more comfortable these days.

    I certainly do gig with one, I find the string to string balance and thickness of the notes high up really useful. The Fallout is a pretty versatile bass....I don't sound that different whatever bass I play, for better or worse, after all these years.

    Nice Post... I likes an oil finnish. Satisfying to apply without that spray faff There is a most splendid post on the very same by our @Andyjr1515 I'll do a search and link it. First couple i did was Screw Fix Danish Oil. Can stay quite tacky for a while, so slow progress. Tru-Oil is much easier to apply, less mess, and gives a much better feel especially with a bit of beeswax and a buff after. This body mod 'n Tru-oil on this SR300 thanks to @Andyjr1515 And an SR500 i sanded down, till i got fed up with sanding... then applied a few coats of Tru-Oil with one of those green scourers, then some wax Oh, and a Harley Benton... And a T-Bird Oiled wood finish, Passive, Rear Route... You get the idea...

    Ibanez AGB200 or the tastefully reliced AGBR200. They are short scale basses but very nice to play and a lovely 'woody' sound.

    I used to gig with an Epiphone EB 3 which had awful neck dive and sounded very muddy. I've used Gretsch Electromatic which looked nice (I love the Les Paul shape) but lacked definition as well. That's moved on to a better home (my dep in the band). I have an Ibanez EHB1000s which I've used as my main bass where space is an issue, and as a back up as it's small and convenient and I can dial in a decent sound. I also gig an Ibanez AGBV200 semi acoustic. Short scale basses are easier to play for me as I have guitard sized hands, but I still prefer long scale. But if I have a tricky fast piece to record, I'll usually reach for a shorty.

    I’m up against mr travis and his all-consuming GEAR maw no chance, I see that bass being dragged to a Manchester address, probably leaving scratch marks on the pavement as it is sucked in like some poor dachshund caught in a wizard of Oz style tornado Briefly. 😛 I Wish I could buy this. GLWTS

    It's not the issue he's making it out to be. The screws often lightly touch the neck pocket holes, but I've never found one where there was enough interference to stop the screws tightening properly.
