  2. Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.
  3. A G&L L2000 tribute is a rare beast in the UK. G&L have given up on selling in the UK - or possibly retailers have. I bought a 5 string a few years ago but preloved 4 strings, at a sensible price, are very few and far between.
  4. Broken Stones - Paul Weller
  5. 😂😂😂 I remember years ago one of the older guys i worked with came into work and after a visit to the loo he realised he'd put on his wife's underwear. The obvious Scottish sarcasm followed and when asked how he managed that he explained. "It was still dark when he woke up and didn't want to wake his wife. His underwear was in the drawer next to his wife's and he opened what he thought was his drawer and took out underwear not aware he was in the wrong drawers. (excuse the pun) He was almost retirement age so we all believed it was a genuine mistake so think yourself lucky it was only a minor mistook you made Daryl. 🤣 Not 100% sure why he even told us. ? Think i would have kept my mouth shut. Dave
  6. Yes i played that one in bass direct direct but decided against getting it. I’ve got the slapcut bolt on job though I am on the lookout for a trb5p . I paid £730 for mine and it’s 33 7/8 i believe. The action was pretty low but I’ve managed to get it even lower. Funny because I’ve never particularly been a fan of wide necks but it just seems to fit like a nice glove! Appy days! Cheers terry x
  7. If you find one you love at a price you can afford, just buy it. If the idea you're not good enough so you shouldn't buy it was based in reality, only a handful of real high performance cars would have ever been sold. If I won the Powerball, I'd get another Alembic S2, this time a custom 6.
  8. Smash it up - the Damned
  9. As per notes a 2kW amp is just under twice as loud as a 250W one (all other things being equal).
  10. 15 strings, if running tuning at standard intervals, is pointless. I had a 13 string bass made for me some years ago, the thickest string was a G#00 that resonated at 18hz, so right at the very very lowest range of human hearing. The highest fret of the sharpest string was right at the top end of human hearing. It also had a near unplayable fanned scale of 41" to 24" to make the strings actually function correctly. It was a bit of an experiment, and while it technically worked, going beyond 13 string is a pointless exercise unless you're using alternative tuning. Binky, my 10 string bass, is however right at the sweet spot of utterly ridiculous, completely awesome and totally useable! For those that haven't seen it, this is Binky (and my 8 string Conklin!)
  11. It's an original feature, but it's not systematic as you can have notched on the treble side, notched on bass side, notched on both sides, and not notched at all tuners. Furthermore, these types of tuners can be mixed. The interesting thing is that, thanks to these notched tuners, you can narrow the dating to the pre-CBS era, if they are squared notched tuners.
  12. Rip It Up - Orange Juice
  13. And 'The Pin Drop' from the same Steven Wilson album. Nick Beggs again, in case you didn't know. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-pin-drop-steven-wilson/
  14. Tears Of A Clown - Iron Maiden
  15. One popped up early last year on Gumtree in the amber finish,it was basically mint.£500. I contacted the guy and hesitated until...it sold!!! Less than a week later it resurfaced in Bass Direct on commission sale for almost double the price. I was in there while they had it and when I tried it that's when I REALLY wanted to kick myself. It was stellar in just about every way. I always thought they were the full 34" though? I know the 90s TRB5P was through neck and 33 7/8" scale. You don't mean that one do you?
  16. 2m 30s shows lower gain settings Listening to it, isn’t helping me with wanting to sell it 🙄 was fine in box not looking at me.

  18. He’ll have lent on his fame and skipped the line the rest of us peasants are in.
  19. Cry Me a River - Julie London
  20. Did you find one in stock somewhere? Everywhere I have seen has a 3-4 month wait list now
  21. Never a truer word written.
  22. I saw one a while ago for £1300 on ebay! Was tempted to sell mine, but then I realised just how good it sounded in my punkyfunky band...
  23. Given the lack of functional difference between the two I’d go with the Halon, as he’s replied
  24. The philippe dubrieulle jazz bass I once played and missed out on. It was for sale in Wunjos maybe 15-20 years ago and never to be seen again. I check online occasionally just to see if it’s resurfaced but no such luck.
  25. The Albridge is about as good a bridge as you can find for Musicmasters, but yeah AmpShop can be tricky with shipping. If I ordered from them again, I’d pay a little extra and ask for FedEx shipping, they normally use USPS which is a diabolically unreliable service. It’s worth emailing them first.
