Blue Arran has no foam rollers in, I think their statement of "Huge Stocks" on their front page is not quite accurate TBH. I'll pass on the tinting at the moment. I'll never get it right. Already got the foam. Not sure what you mean here, I'm expecting to glue the front panel in. I was also going to glue the rear panel in, but could use foam gasket as you suggest and screw that in. Is that what you meant? Glue the front panel, but screw the rear panel and use foam gasket. If I do that, I might have to recess a 20mm section on the rear panel as it'll stick out. Its flush fitting and anything would make it stick out. The Fane has two rounds of dense foam on top of the metal ring and underneath the metal ring. You can see the bits missing to allow screw access. Is this the gasket? or should I put adhesive foam between this and the wood baffle? I was going to say I have loads of t-nuts as I use them for aluminium extrusion, but I suspect you mean these rather than these which are also called T-Nuts Same name and different nuts, I'll check in the garage, but easy to get. What bass is it? If it's Fenderesque, save yerself a few £££ and take a punt on (more or less) any Chinese seller on eBay.

If you buy white, you should be able to make whatever colour you want with some acrylic colourant. I've done this myself with colourant from Polyvine. I've never tried tinting white - so I've no idea how much you'd need. To get a good textured finish, you'll need the special foam rollers from Blue Aran. They're not the same as the ones you can buy in DIY stores - the foam is much coarser. You can buy them from Ali Express but I haven't seen them anywhere else. If anyone knows another source, that would be useful. If you can recess the input panel, you'll achieve a better seal - and it will also look better - but surface mounting works also. Don't for goodness sakes mess about with sealant. Use adhesive foam strip. 2mm thickness is about right. I'd use screws on the rear panel. Plenty of them. I'm assuming you're gluing the panel in, but do use foam gasket otherwise. Fixing the speaker with T-nuts and bolts (likely M4 or 5) is the preferred method, but woodscrews should work on this size of speaker. If the Fane is already gasketed (which is unusual), you won't need to add any more. If you really need silicone sealant, you haven't built the cab properly. Unless you have a good (i.e. expensive) crimp tool and the correct crimps (there are different specifications), solder the terminals. It's fine. You don't normally need removable panels to access the inside of the cab, as you should be able to gain access through the hole in the baffle for the driver. By all means, make the panels removeable for testing, but once you're happy with the cab, I'd glue them in. Sealant has no place in a speaker cabinet!

I had the Flightcase and the powered cab and used the Flightcase on the floor next to me and alongside the 300 (as opposed to the more visually impressive in top of the 300), best of both worlds

I think I'll go for it. I had a MIJ Precision roughly that age and it was really good. I reckon I'll like the Jazz neck on this one, and the weight, and the look. I usually prefer a J neck and tone (slightly more dubby), but I like the body shape of P basses and the simple controls and they are often lighter, and suppose a bit of EQ on the amp can go a long way to getting that dubby tone.

That's what I use - two or three 4x5 cabs - and it works for me. My amp (AG700) is 700W, but I don't use it at anything like full power.

What are your thoughts on the amp now after some time spent with it? It would be useful to know what you were using before and how you think this amp compares for what it is you do. Ta, Rob

We took our southern rock covers band to Trillians, a small independent venue in the centre of Newcastle. This venue has in-house PA and engineer. We took our Behringer XR18 to run our IEMs using a passive split. Gearwise, I used my Overwater 5 string jazz, Shure GLXD16+, Empress compressor, Jad Freer Capo, and SushiboxFx Finally DI. I did have my Ashdown ABM 500W 1x15 combo on stage but that was more for show due to the aforementioned in-house PA and our IEMs. Despite being down a fiddle player, we still had a great night and the punters seemed to enjoy themselves with the venue full from the get go. One of those gigs you wish you could play every week 😎
