You've got a very good ear, Darren, did you come to a conclusion?
-
That would have been me earlier on this thread and I did get ticked-off for point that out, haha! However in a live context I won't be messing around with patch settings / trying to create a new patch from scratch mid-set, so as long as the display is visible and telling me which of the 99 available preset patch nos. I'm on, I would have thought that would be fine. And probably a lot easier to read than remembering which dot accounts for which of the 8 presets on the MXR for me.

On balance, I agree about keeping the Ashdown. However...if cash was less of an object than it is, I'd be tempted by three Barefaced 110's and a valve amp to drive them. I've always thought that having three (or four?) single speakers is incredibly flexible. Individually very small and light, you could use as many as you need for any given gig and using the three together stacked in a column would give you a device with the line array effect and probably sound pretty damned good. Not cheap though....

Hi all, just selling off the things I’m not using after changing what I need. First - Boss Katana Go - latest version with the case. Hardly used but when I needed it it was fantastic! You can use it on its own or with the app to programme loads of presets and cab sims. Has a tuner too. Charges with cable provided. I used it to play songs from YouTube or Spotify and play along, it’ll do it through the unit into the headphones you plug in really well. There’s loads of things you can do with the app to be honest but you don’t have the use the app every time, I didn’t bother once I’d programmed in the presets I liked. As new condition. £120 new with the case so I’d like £80 posted in the Uk, £75 collected. Ampeg Classic Analog Preamp, only selling as I got an OE bass rig recently. Great simple pedal to get that Ampeg vibe. Couple of very tiny marks, neatly applied velcro on back. No box sorry but will be packaged very well. £100 new, so £50 posted or £45 collected please! Joyo Skylla compressor pedal. In near new condition, has amazing reviews and if I’m being honest it does exactly the same as my Original Effects Cali 76 I bought to replace it. Apparently modelled on a Darkglass comp I think? With box and has neat Velcro on the back. £32.50 posted or £27 collected. Will discount if anyone wants more than one item, just ask! Also open to reasonable offers. If you want any more pics just DM me. Thanks- Rob.

Nice Legs, Shame About Your Face - The Monks

Nice, i'll dive into that later. Did you get any verdict from it? Slightly OT, but did I see someone somewhere express concern about how visible the FI VIP's text is under stage lights? Looking at this video compared to all the other pedals, it does seem pretty bad! Shame really, as its a nice design otherwise.

Bought a pedal from Paul, and in all my 12 years on BC this was probably the best buying experience. Paul was awesome the whole way, pedal arrived quickly and very well packed, and Paul was kind enough to also give me some tips for using it. Thanks mate, outstanding 👌

For sale is the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 which has the AUX input as well. Great sounding pedal with amazing ability to sculp both the tone on the preamp side and the distortion on the drive side of the pedal. There is some very impressive sounds that can be had out of this pedal. The pedal comes with the original box and all the goodies that came with it. I bought this pedal 3-4 years ago but the sound is a bit too much for the bands I am in. I was always hoping to use it but it has literally sat in the box the whole time. I had thought I might use it also as an emergency DI for gigs but I have never needed it. Possible pedal trade options would be Origin Effects DCX or IE Frantabit. Possible other option would be towards Bergantino HDN/HD 112 or Mesa Subway 112 cab. If I was playing heavier music this pedal would absolutly be staying. £270, £250, £230 including postage. Bank transfer or PayPal F&F.

Epiphone thunderbird classic pro, neck through with the Gibson USA TB pickups, nice and light at 8.5lbs. Lovely low action with a 38mm nut width it plays very nicely, a few minor marks here and there but still a really smart looking bass. Hard case with a key. The best of the Epi 'birds now discontinued. Pick up from Nr Plymouth, or courier at cost I guess around £20. Happy to drive an hour or so for a meet up if it's helpful.

To expand on my original post. In my current band, I use a 30" Eastwood Hooky 6-String Bass. Our band doesn't have a guitarist so myself and synth play alternate between playing the melody and bass parts:

Yes, lots. Gretsch G2220 for me. Cost me £245 from BassBros. Has £100 of Gotoh hardware on. It’s my #1 now and helps pay my mortgage. Sounds and feels so good to me that it made me sell my Vintera Mustang.

Bass not cutting through? Loudness could be the answer
Chienmortbb replied to Phil Starr's topic in Amps and Cabs
The concept behind the equal loudness curves has been known for some time. The one issue with them from my point of view. Who, or what, decides that a sound is twice as loud. How do you measure human hearing and decide that 10dB is twice as loud? Maybe I should look at Fletcher & Munson’s work to find the answer? Back to the point in question. I recently acquired a bass amp that I had been curious about for some time. Designed and built in the USA, it was an excellent piece of engineering, although the £1,000+ price tag new had always put me off before. It was a no frills amp, just the usual EQ plus a voicing control and a deep switch. In the conservatory, where I practice, the deep switch and the voicing control gave my some wonderful bass tones. I could not wait to try them at a gig. Five minutes into soundcheck and these were switched off, EQ set flat and off I went. With a little regret, I sold the amp in the Marketplace. -
Probably it's urea-formaldehyde glue which can break down if kept damp and give off fumes (including ammonia) that smell like wee.

AI music overtakes real band its modelled on
Al Krow replied to SteveXFR's topic in General Discussion
This ain't bad at all! Currently easy enough to spot AI on YouTube (and not least 'cos this ones being honest about it!) given the static cover. Obviously we don't have the same cues on Spotify. -

A song called Drift Away by Dobie Gray. A friend it was their favourite song so I had to look it up. I thought it might be some modern pop song but was surprised to find that it's an old one. Not my usual thing, but it has a nice bass part so I learned it and added to my repertoire of songs. 😎
