phagor started following Darkglass Anagram
-
At the moment, the clean and processed audio needs to go up to the tone3000.com to be turned into a NAM. However tone3000.com have recently made an API available, so maybe the Anagram or at least the Darkglass Suite will be able to streamline this in the future. I have to say it was really easy in practice - use the Anagram as a USB audio interface, record two tracks of noodling in Logic, bounce each to a file, upload to tone3000.com, download the NAM. I got a really good model of my Bear Foot Blue Berry which sounds just like the pedal and is very dynamic. Absolutely, I have some patches set up like this, works well. On the whole I'm loving my Anagram and have used it on home and fly dates with no problems. The audio quality is pristine (unlike the HX Stomp) and the interface really usable (except for accidentally dragging blocks instead of scrolling along - Darkglass know about this). I'm looking at adding an additional footswitch as MIDI is coming very soon. Would love some more blocks including a ringmod, synth, slow gear etc.

rwillett started following Plastic case for Macbook Air M1 2020
-
Hi This is no longer needed. It's a plastic front and rear for a Macbook Air M1 A2337. Other models may fit. I'm pretty certain it's one of these and the colour is very similar to this but but can't say its Pastel Orange. https://amzn.eu/d/aXM6zgi There's a load of surface scratches and one corner is slightly cracked. However its better than having nothing on your expensive Macbook Air. I'll even post for free. Rob

I can imagine! The bit of my brain that manages low back pain is screaming "NO!!!!" but I'm just overriding those negative thoughts as they look so cool. Even if I didn't gig them, they'd look good in the corner of my practice room. -
Hohner "The Jack" Restoration

While I'm sitting around, periodically applying more coats to this polyurethane toffee apple, I figure I may as well sort out a few of the remaining issues with the instrument. The big thing to sort out is the damaged front pickup. These basses have a slightly unusual pickup arrangement (for a bass, at least) where the guitar-humbucker-sized soapbars are mounted to pickup rings. The pickups were originally held in place with what my (American-born carpenter) wife identified as No. 2 machine screws. These are anchored into brass threaded inserts that are cast into the tabs on the sides of the pickups. On the back pickup these are still intact and have the appropriate hardware still. On the front pickup the treble side tab has snapped off. I can only assume this happened during the process of fitting the midi pickup system, as I can't see how this fairly sturdy tab could have broken other than if it was dropped onto a hard surface. The previous owner attempted a fix using self-tapping M3 machine screws and a lot of epoxy. They tapped out the surviving bass insert to 3 mm and cut a thread through the oddly rubbery plastic of the makeshift tab they'd glued on. That home-made tab seems to have failed pretty quickly though, and it was broken when it reached me. I have some M2 machine screws and associated threaded inserts to hand, so I'm thinking I'll just cut away both the epoxy tab and the surviving (but retapped) tab and replace them with a single piece of wood or plastic across the bottom of the pickup with M2 threaded inserts. Like so. The pickup rout is flat on the bottom, so I don't need the gap between the tabs. As an interesting aside. The hardware used on this bass is almost all imperial, despite it being a German-designed instrument made in Korea. I'm guessing they were bound by the terms of the Steinberger license to reproduce the hardware exactly, including the No. 2 machine screws for the pickup mountings and the No. 6 woodscrews that are used to mount the bridge and headpiece. -

Those and my Boogie 1516 are genuinely the best cabs I’ve ever owned. Not light by any means but worth the effort 🤪 -
Lack of a sound provenance back to 1990 or thereabouts puts me off buying a vintage instrument.

Hi all, A recent hip replacement has gifted me something special: clarity and a frightening amount of spare time to play with my gear and even more hours to realise I don't need most of it. So here’s your chance to grab some gear that’s been gently neglected but lovingly appreciated. It comes with the original Eventide power supply, but I don't have the original box (will be securely packaged). Here is the link to the ModFactor on the Eventide Website. Go ahead, fall down the rabbit hole of overly poetic knob explanations. (‘Warm yet assertive?’ What does that mean?)” Alternatively, here's the science bit All the standards, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, as well as Rotary, Tremolo, and Vibrato are there. Also included is the unique Undulator effect from the H8000, as well as a RingMod that falls somewhere between ring modulation and synthesis. The dedicated SLOW/FAST footswitch for ramping the LFO rate comes in handy. LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) rates can also sync to Tap Tempo and MIDI clock. Specification Modulate your Modulator: Two LFOs create rich, expressive modulation effects. 100 Presets Studio-Quality Sound Instant Program Change Real-time control with 10 knobs, MIDI or expression pedal Tap Tempo and MIDI Clock Sync/Generate True Analogue Bypass Rugged cast metal construction Metal footswitches for instant Preset access Mono or Stereo operation Guitar or Line Level Inputs and Outputs Recorded delivery within the UK is included in the price. If you’d prefer an alternative postage option, feel free to get in touch to discuss. EU shipping, however, involves a soul-crushing bureaucracy designed by someone who clearly hates bass players. So… no shipping to the EU I'm afraid. I'm happy to answer any questions, though be warned - I’ve spent more time looking at these pedals than actually using them; they’ve basically lived a sparse life under soft lighting. I'm not looking for any trades at the moment. Regards, Neil.

Ben Jamin started following Weirdest Fender ever?

Looks like Fender CS are doing a limited run of an Adrian Younge signature bass, which has got to be one of the quirkiest designs I've seen for a while! Seems like it would be a bunch of fun to play, and clearly works for Adrian! But definitely a niche instrument! Jazz body with 50% fretted, 50% fretless jazz neck Precision middle pick-up Curtis Novak bisonic neck pick-up Built-in fuzz and tremolo effects https://www.fendercustomshop.com/basses/jazz-bass/limited-edition-masterbuilt-adrian-younge-jazz-bass/

That explains a lot. The mid-80s was when I first started playing bass. I got so sick of being unable to sound like the stuff I liked, even after a revolving door of basses and amps, that I just quit. In the late 90s, with bands like Stereolab and Air as well as Serge Gainsbourg and the "Melodie Nelson" bass sound as a talking point, in the magazine interviews and also musicians on the ground, everyone seemed to be saying said flats on the bass were the crucial ingredient. So I bought a set and that was the sound I hadn't heard before on one of my instruments. I played non-stop until Covid, age, and changing countries more or less put me out of action. But the vast majority of players I interacted with in those decades, used flats too - even for hard rock and psych.

If he's 20 but with a face relic'd to look 70 with a file and screwdriver then I may accept that his guitar is acceptable. -
It puts me right off buying a vintage instrument.

Me too! I/ve tried about a dozen different compressors over the years and have finally settled on the Briggs Diamante optical compressor. I too play fretless almost exclusively and it's great for tightening up the tone.

Hi all, I'm looking for some kind of power module like in the photo further below, but one that I can connect to my power supply's 18v 'Boss style' input (orange input seen here) I've been using a Palmer PWT12 supply for a few years, fairly inexpensive compared to the likes of Cioks and Strymon but still good quality, no noise etc. Unfortunately the mains cord is dying. I've had it repaired a few times but it just gets worse with time and I'd rather not risk blowing my pedals. It doesn't seem possible to buy the mains cord by itself. Rather than replace the whole supply, I wondered if I could get something like in the picture below. A power module that I can position on the edge of my board and connect to the supply itself. Does anyone know of anything that might be suitable? I can only seem to see IEC-to-EC cables like this one. Cheers
