  1. Past hour
  2. I replaced EHM big muff with Ampeg scrambler.
  3. These are fantastic things. Ran a rudimentary bi-amp set up a while back...crossover feeding a GT2 fit the highs/dirt, lows going through a BDDI set cleanish.
  4. Walrus Audio Eons? No blend but very versatile.
  5. The buzz is audible through the amp. It is not that much but I can hear it. Since I last posted I have received the new PSUs but not fitted and tested them. Interesting that Rod Elliot has covered this, I will read it and get back later.
  6. I'm pretty confident that I could design an aesthetically pleasing & functional 15-string bass, within the significant constraints of the design parameters imposed by that specification. I am similarly confident that it would be fitted with eleven strings that were never touched.
  7. Yes, strictly speaking “The MXR Custom Shop Script Phase 90”. Same circuit, just with LED and power jack.
  8. Hi @Hamster I wonder what your old PA tops are? I'm a little concerned about the description of these speakers as 'budget' which would for me cover things like Alto, Thomann's own brand The Box and such like. I'd think of both of these speakers being in the well made family saloon bracket, the VW Golf of speakers if you like. I'd think of these as at least mid priced speakers for the average pub band. Both can sound magnificent in the right hands. The Jefferson Archive ( @skidder652003's band) are a great band with a wonderful vocalist and sounded fabulous through the FBT's, really loud too. I'd spotted the 1.75" horn drivers on the RCF, in theory this should mean they carry a bit more of the mid range and this would help the sound of vocals. In practice RCF have really sorted out their crossovers with phase correction applied so the midrange is especially good. There's no mention of phase correction in the FBT speakers so no assumptions about how they might sound. I believe in the past FBT have used RCF drivers and I would suspect these speakers would be very close in sound. I wouldn't expect a huge difference in toughness between the cab in practice, My 10 year old plastic RCF 10" cabs have a few scuff marks from being used as floor monitors and carried without covers but nothing structural has broken. Any wooden cabs I have of that age would have similar scuffs if painted or small tears in the vinyl if covered. FBT also talk about internal stiffening of their wooden cab which is encouraging, it isn't just a box and they have at least put some thought into it. I'd anticipate a slightly tighter bass from a well built wooden cab and a clearer midrange from the bigger horn driver but The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
  9. GuitarGuitar have stopped stocking them - BassDirect have started to recently, but a lot have sold: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product-category/bass-guitars/?_brands=lakland Also TheBassGallery seem to have a few - but check stock with them before ordering: https://thebassgallery.com/search?q=lakland
  10. Fabulous cabs!...if I didn't have a hdn212 incoming I would have bought this...Great tone, and the transition from the 12s to the horn is lovely.
  11. Going small this weekend while waiting for my Anagram which has been delayed
  12. Material - Devin Townsend
  13. I did, but I didn't want to bother him, seems like he's a busy man.
  14. Concrete and Clay - Randy Edelman
  15. I may be sending two guitars back to the owner in the USA, inside a Mono dual bag.Insurance is a must as they are worth a few grand. I've looked at a couple of places online, the DHL site didnt promise an easy way and another site only insured £2000 maximum. Whether the owner gets hit with tax or not isn't a problem (for me) as he will have to give proof of ownership along the way. Any ideas, sites etc would be appreciated, especially if one of you has successfully shipped to the USA.
  16. I saw what you did there 😎
  17. Hi all, Does anyone know anywhere in the UK that has stock of Lakland gear, specifically either thr DJ5 or 55-02. I'm really struggling to find anyone who stocks anything Lakland. I've tried most of the usual suspects. Rare as rocking horse doo doo it seems over here now!! Gutted as I'm desperate for one and ready to buy 😞 Thanks all!!!
  18. The next thing to think about it colours. The white scratchplate was used in the early '80s on the International colours series. Below are the options I'm considering all with white pickguard and maple neck: Monaco yellow, Capri orange, Sahara taupe, Cherry burst. The others don't appeal so much - Cathay ebony and arctic white look too much like regular basses, albeit with white pickguards instead of black. Morocco red is nice but a bit too close to Dakota red to stand out. Maui blue is great but I have another Jazz in that colour, and Sienna burst just doesn't look as good as cherry burst.
  19. V. helpful A/B based on the spec sheets, although I guess the proof of the sound has got to be in the hearing? Not sure about the power ratings you've suggested though - the 912A's are stated to be: LOW FREQUENCIES: 1400 W Peak HIGH FREQUENCIES: 700 W Peak Which I reckon should translate to 700 + 350 = 1050W RMS per speaker, which is decent? How rugged is plywood typically vs toughened plastic?
  20. updated big board photo. MK2 octabvre and HX stomp back, and added the EWS stormy for another drive flavor.
  21. Is Bill on here? Gosh didn't know that.
  22. Next step was obviously a body and neck. I decided to go '70s for a couple of reasons - I always liked the late '70s 'S' series basses, which most other people seem to think are the very worst in terms of Fender QC, but I really like the aggressive tone. Hence, I decided to go ash and maple. This is very much a tribute to the era rather than something 100% accurate - so although I managed to get a northern ash body (from Guitar Build), it's a '60s version without the channel cut between the pickup cavity and the control cavity. It'll all be under the pickguard anyway so no problem there. I went with one piece maple for the neck. I pushed the boat out a bit and ordered from Musikraft in the US. Allparts and Warmoth don't do the correct 7.25 radius on their repro necks. It's currently in production, not sure when it will arrive. An era correct decal has also arrived.
  23. Final reduction to £1850. If it doesn’t go at this price, I’ll keep it in the closet.
