  2. Mate - now is really not the time for jibes like that. As business driven and unlikeable as you may find her - her husband has passed away. Christ.
  3. Has anyone ever played a Hohner fretless Jazz ? I had one years ago and sold but I kind of miss it; it sounded amazing but was as heavy as a boat anchor!
  4. Back up for sale… 2023 RB Streamer LX5, carolena body, laminated maple neck, wenge fretboard, Just-a-nut, 3D bridge, active MEC pickups, 2 band active EQ, Warwick straplocks, Rockbag, truss rod tool. 5. I have pretty much the twin of this bass in white - early 80s lined fretless Tokai jazz. It's a gorgeous bass - nicest neck I've ever played. I replaced the pickups with Bartolinis which really enriched the sound but if this one is like mine, it's a wonderful instrument, better than very many of the Fenders I've tried.
  6. Good luck Andy in whatever you choose to do. Band members can suck all the enjoyment of playing music right out of you.
  7. All good thanks Steve. Still got the Ultra Jazz, got tempted to swap it for something with a bit more of a subtle finish, but so glad I kept it. recorded with it recently and it sounds brilliant. Hope you are good too.
  8. enjoy the new pedals !
  9. Wow, only just seen this on the news. I'm shocked and I don't know why because he's obviously been very unwell for some time. Puts a different perspective on things if he knew he was getting close to the end. No exaggeration to say that Ozzy and Sabbath were a big part of my life and my imagination going back to when I was a kid in the 1970's. Ozzy was a cult icon even back then, before the rest of the world joined in. It's the end of an era, but his legend will only grow. Sabbath's music has already stood the test of time, and I have no doubt people will still be listening to them a hundred years from now. A one-off original, the genuine article. Rest in peace Ozzy.

  11. Would the band not be interested in some pro vids to use for advertising on social media and to get gigs. Sometimes you need to fork out a bit of cash for the band. Even a good mate with a Go-Pro or Zoom could do the job. I've found some phones have a weird sound system that focuses on vocals and drops the background noise and when singing stops the guitars and bass volume comes back up to normal. Not sure if that's something you select on your phone ? Dave
  12. Only just seen this, sounded like a brilliant idea.
  13. Deeply saddened by this news. We all knew it was coming but I didn't expect it so soon after the Back to the Beginning show. An absolute legend, who lived more of a life than most of us could ever imagine.
  14. I felt a bit jaded after the 11:49 transcription so wanted to try something in a higher register that didn't keep me down in the region of the low B. This came up on my mp3 player and I thought I would have a go. It is not a bass part at all but the melody to a Ralph Towner tune called 'Ecotopia' from the 1987 Oregon album of the same name. Something very different. The melody does some lovely things with the rhythms so have a go and see where it takes you. A nice exercise. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/ecotopia-oregon-melody-transcribed-for-bass/
  15. Bartolini 6RC Pickup. This is a direct drop-in for your Rickenbacker bridge pickup. Only selling as I am using an alternative in my 4003. Just a bit of shine on the top of the pup where the string rubs a little. Bass Direct have these new at £118 < only asking £75, UK postage included. PM for any more info, thanks for looking! SB 😀
  16. RIP Ozzy. Legend. Certainly went out on a high.
  17. Bought my first fretless in 1978 - still have it today. Others have come and gone in the meantime. Most gigs unless it's a cutdown set for whatever reason I will have a fretted and a fretless bass with me. I like the contrast in tone and the audiences usually like it too. This is the current three and most unlikely to change now.
  18. Being passive isn't the only factor - my Laklands are just more up my street, as I mentioned. It's still a lovely bass, but perhaps stands a better chance of being moved on unadulterated! 😉
  19. Oh my, I think the bass gods are really toying with me; I was looking out for a Tune 5-string a while back (I have the TWB-6 and a couple of the later Korean models). Sadly, funds won't currently allow me to go for it but I can certainly vouch for the quality of these basses. Absolutely! GLWTS. 👍😎👍
  20. Thorn Tree In The Garden - Derek & The Dominos
  21. Up for sale is a MM Stingray 5 Special, with an ebony fingerboard and a rather fetching Smoked Chrome finish, now discontinued I believe. I bought it last year, but despite the fabulous build quality and finish, being light for a fiver at 4.3kg with great balance, fabulous Stingray tones, and being so easy to play, I find myself reverting to my old Lakland 55-94, which just feels like home. Immaculate condition, complete with MM branded Mono semi-rigid case. Specs are here: https://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/stingray-5-specialhttps://dingwallguitars.com/bass/sp1/ Collection preferred from near Woking in Surrey, but I can post within the UK at the buyer's cost and risk. Sorry, no trade offers please.
