I normally have a rule about just buying gear that I like and not buying gear for a particular project and once again I have proven to myself why I should stick to that rule. 😔 In summer 2024 my main band decided to go entirely IEM. In autumn 2024 I was fired by that very band. In that time I did somewhere between 5-10 gigs with it. As such, my over £1000 of IEM rack has sat unused for the past year. I have held on to it for a while now but none of my current bands show any interest in going IEM and to be honest I have a hearing defect in one ear caused by a botched surgery when I was a kid that makes wearing headphones a little uncomfortable so that suits me just fine. I don't do things by halves and I put a lot of research into this before I bought it. Obviously you can spend car or even house money on the kinds of IEM systems that the pros use on big tours and this isn't that, but then it's not some budget Aliexpress dongle either. Think RCF pa speakers that sit in the goldilocks zone between Mackie and L'Acoustics. It's a nice prosumer system that works exceptionally well in a very neat 2u rack. I do have some IEMs but they are not the kind of thing that I would be comfortable selling (and expecially buying) second hand because they have been inside of me. For the record I was using this system with the very decent Shure SE215 but it's a standard output that will work pretty much anything out there. As it stands this is a stereo system so youi can have different mixes in each ear, but it can also be run mono. Anyone who has ever seen my gear will tell you that I am super-annoying with organisation and neatness. This rack has strain relief buit into the cables, everything is cable tied down to the shelf. The input loom coils up into the back of the rack. The power cables are tidied away. You get to a gig, take the lids of the rack, plug it into the wall and plug it into the mixer. 60 seconds, tops. When you do it will light up and you'll have a few spare sockets to plug the rest of your stuff into. Please note this is not the (c. £500 new) 'EW 100' series, this is the full-fat 'EW' series. I'm selling the whole rack as a complete system for £650. If you wanted just the IEM system (transmitter, receiver, power supply and rack ears) with none of the accessories that would be £550. I would however encourage anyone new to IEM to go for the whole system as if you do that then it's a turn key solution with all of the hard work done for you. Add headphones of your choice and go. Even if you're not in a brightly lit pop punk band and you turn the light bars off! Pickup from between Wylam and Newcastle. I can deliver locally or I can post. Please get in touch with any questions. Phil, many thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. As I said, for me as I have the ply and no drain pipe it might be simpler. I've now loaded the driver into the cabinet as it is and at low volumes it sound great, although I only completed this today and have only had the chance to try it with my Ashdown Rootmaster 800 (at low volume). I'm ging to see how it sound with the TC Electronic amp later this week. Still waiting for the grill to arrive too. I have a ruminate over which path to take regarding the port and let you know the results. I really appreciate all the work and support you and the others involved in the development of the BC cabinets, thank you. Regards David

Easily the most useful FI video I've watched, the formula works! How does the FM engine track compared to the VA? I got the vibe it definitely doesn't track as well from the video, but it could just be the playing/tracks.

I'm not one for hyperbole (he lied, I totally am), but those are SO GOOD!! The DX7 voices are like nothing I've ever heard from a bass synth. AWESOME work Peter, you've basically ticked off all my wishlist for a bass monosynth, I raise my hat to you and the team! Can't wait to try it. And then annoy the absolute snot out of my bandmates with it at every opportunity. Out of interest, the video mentions 'improved tracking' in passing. Is that compared to the current firmware or just to V3?

Hi David, to keep the same tuning you only have to match the area of the round port and keep the same length. Those are the only two numbers that matter. I keep using the drainpipe because it's simpler for most people. if you can calculate pi r^2 that will be ok, but if you are forming a port then it would be better to make it slightly bigger to reduce potential wind noise in the port. I've had a look and something 8x5cm inside measurements and 11.4cm long would work. You can change the shape so long as you keep to 40cm^2 area

The joys of promoting your band on social media to friends
jezzaboy replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
My workmates know I play in a band and I get the "Oh I must come and see you" but most of them never do so I just go yeah and don`t get miffed when they don`t show. When they actually do turn up they seems surprised that we can actually do this in front of people! Out of the 5 of us in my band I`m the only one who goes out and sees other bands. Last weekend I saw 3 different bands in 3 venues and this weekend I have 2 lined up at the moment. If you want folk to come out and see you then it`s only fair that I go out and see other bands and I have made a few new friends doing this and met a load of nice people. -

Here’s a video demo of some of the forthcoming v4.5 features: 25 Years History of Bass Guitar Synths: From the Past to the Future Impact V4.5 The free software update V4.5 for the V4 and V4 VIP models fulfills the ultimate dreams of all bass players. To complement the FI's Virtual Analog (VA) sounds there are now 99 DX7 compatible FM bass sounds. Importing FM sounds is supported in Yamaha DX7 cartridge SysEx format. Via the new Setlist Mode any of the VA and FM sounds can be rearranged in arbitrary sequence without a computer. It is even possible to specify which instrument mode is used on each program of the list. Copying and swapping internal programs is now also possible on the pedal itself; indispensable for creating a variation of a program and storing it to a new slot. The Factory Default Programs can be restored anytime with a press of a button and are now built into the firmware. Another new and much-requested feature is the ability to apply portamento to the VA sounds when triggering via audio. Back by popular demand is the ability for the pedal to automatically switch between audio and MIDI triggering, depending on which input signal is detected. The V4.5 software comes with a set of completely new sounds and improved tracking, designed to fulfill the wishes of musicians who want to play bass parts of famous songs. Just as before, the software comes with a high-quality tuner, MIDI output capability to drive external synthesizers, CV/Gate output to drive analog synthesizers, and MIDI input to use the VA sounds from any MIDI source. The new 4.5 software will be available early March 2026. These are the sounds that we designed to cover famous songs: VA: Michael Jackson - Thriller Ginuwine - Pony Parliament - Flashlight Herbie Hancock - Chameleon Madonna - Holiday Björk - Army of Me Bruno Mars - 24K Magic Michael Jackson – PYT Weeknd – Blinding Lights Muse - Hysteria Rufus & Chaka Khan - Ain’t Nobody Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole New Order - Blue Monday FM: Kool & The Gang - Fresh Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal Madonna - Live To Tell Berlin - Take My Breath Away Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up Mr Mister Broken Wings Michael Jackson - Another Part of Me a-ha - Take On Me Madonna - Live To Tell Some of the most famous users of the Future Impact: Mohini Dey Chris Wolstenholme (Muse) Doug Wimbish (Living Colour and The Rolling Stones) Bootsy Collins Etienne M’Bappe

I did check beforehand and they said it was fine but if the instrument wasn't capable of doing something the examiner could make no allowances. Which was fair.

I'm winding everything back now and having a clearcut of all the stuff I'm unlikely to ever use again. I'm open to sensible offers for any of these - the £900 shown in the listing is for the whole lot, collected. Prices include postage to UK addresses apart from the Take 5 - please PM to discuss collection or delivery options for that. Given that this is a clearout, I'm not really looking for swaps but feel free to let me know if you have anything - to be honest, it's unlikely but you never know! Sequential Take 5 analogue synth - immaculate condition, boxed, upgraded to the latest firmware and patches £750 Zoom R12 portable multitrack recorder - bought to record the band at rehearsal and only used once before the band imploded. Boxed, immaculate £150 Roland VT4 voice transformer - bought when I entertained fantasies of singing backing vox. Again, used just the once and then retired along with the rest of my dreams. £125 UNO drum machine - a great little drum machine, fantastic for giving us a basic beat whenever the drummer failed to make rehearsals. Light usage, boxed and immaculate condition £100 Waldorf Streichfett string synth - surprisingly versatile little synth that does a great job of recreating the sound of 70s string synths. Immaculate, boxed £150 Thanks for looking - if you have any questions or would like photographs, please PM
