  2. I have a simple Roland FP-30 Stage Piano for teaching duties, but I regularly play on a lovely Roland HP-508 at a pupil's house. So whatever the equivalent Stage Piano to the 508 is, I'd highly recommend it. Lovely action and fantastic sound. Also, there's no real need to plough thousands into a Stage Piano - I previously had a Casio Privia PX-310 which was a fantastic Piano at the time, and my current Roland only cost me £250 barely used from a lady on Gumtree.
  3. Mmmmmmm. Yummmy!
  4. It's not. It's a rebadged wesley cougar. The brand was associated with antoria in the 70s, went under, then name revived by a budget brand in 90s. Its junk.
  5. Don't let the 1980s video game console housing fool you. This makes some modern quality noise !
  6. Either serious concentration creating beautiful music, or trying to let one slip mid song without anyone noticing. You decide.
  7. Yeah, bands playing covers eh? Not sure the Zoutons are complaining too much about the royalty cheques they're getting each year, though?
  8. Look carefully at the official EMG diagram, you'll see what you're doing wrong! The pickup is entering the volume pot below, not above and you mismatched the position of the connectors on the tone pot!?! So the inputs and outputs are totally wrong. Double check everything before going any further.
  9. Cheers Bas. Yeah, if only Mark Ronson didnt go and mess it up 🤣
  10. Here's a slightly prophetic one I found at my parents the other day... A 16yr old me wearing a T-Shirt that says 'Reuben' on it. 22 years later we now have a 2yr old son called Reuben!
  11. Kate & I behind Convention Hall Asbury Park NJ
  12. Always wanted one of these, but my flash days have passed so will have to pass, don't want anyone shouting " hey gramps give us a tune on your banana" I'm sure this will be snapped up soon enough.
  13. You should have gone the whole hog and faked a Scouse accent.
  14. I think Santa might stretch to a wireless setup, I'm trying to convince him that I also need a new bass.....😂
  15. It's still hard to believe. Something about life I have learned the hard way is that far too often the worst things seem to happen to the best people. Mani always seemed like a very warm and friendly chap and his bass playing was so perfect for whatever music he was making. You can hear him progress as a player from the catchy riffs and grooves on the first album to The Second Coming. Songs like Love Spreads have got really busy bass parts with lots of hooks and turnarounds that drive the music along. Everything in life is a time and a place, and, at a certain time in a particular place, for a while the Stone Roses were the most important band in the world. Mani was a big part of that.
  16. Those Freeway switches are fantastic too. Modern P neck, great looks, loads of switching/wiring options including traditional J options. I can’t believe I didn’t play it at a Bash! Too busy talking!
  17. Sounds like I should keep quiet about loving D'Addario Pre Steels then... Tried a few different brands of Stainless Rounds, and the Pro Steels simply sound better on the bass than anything else I've tried.
  18. Def different now, whilst they were sorting my new bass out they just said go & have a wander, so I did, unaccompanied, all over the shop. They’ve some great stuff there.

  21. Medium gauge - long scale. Apologies for any confusion. I have amended the title accordingly.
  22. I've been tempted to do Piano lessons and grades to help have a target but worry I'd fall in to that 'I want to play, not do exams' mindset. Overall, do you think it has been worth it vs just having piano lessons? I did grade 1 when I was 10 years old and haven't had any lessons in the 35 years since then - but I have been playing a lot over the last couple of years (YouTube and 'simply piano' app lessons, lesson books, and the theory I've picked up from Bass) and I've started playing keys a bit with a band so reckon it is at least time I had some proper lessons, and perhaps do grades.
