  1. Past hour
  2. I'm not quite in that league, but when the guy came round to mend the garage door, his first comment was "do you do a lot of car boot sales then?"
  3. Unfortunately all these new products I have seen seem to be aimed at studio users, and if they are expected to be used as part of a live rig they have been designed by people who have obviously never been to multi-band gig at a small venue in their life. Too many mini-jacks, consumer-grade computer connectors, and external PSUs with weedy cables and non-locking plugs the low voltage side. Whenever a band we are sharing the stage with has technical problems at a gig, it can be tracked down to one of these "features". Also IMO anything not designed to be used on the floor needs to have mounting points for a microphone or cymbal stand adaptor on its base.
  4. Thank you man, I am indeed a very very lucky boy!
  5. Bought Ian's MXR Tap Switch (Pedal...) came in immaculate condition in all original packaging quickly! Great to deal with absolute gent.
  6. As I’d rather not take the hit of pxing I’d consider a Dingwall SP-1 five string, or a GR Bass combo or small cab in a trade plus cash, if anyone would like to swap?
  7. I’m also interested to hear your latest thoughts, as given the lack of interest in the Dingwall John Taylor 5 I’m selling I’d consider repacing it for the five string version of this model. I think the shorter scale length will feel much better.
  8. I'm quite the opposite - if I don't need it, it goes. Regardless of whether I think I may need it in the future or not. Sometimes that has cost me but there you go. The wife on the other hand... a SERIOUS case of PHOTOS. I am breaking her down however, regular therapy is helping and my constant badgering to sell the pram which is still in the garage even though we won't have any more kids and our daughter is now nearly 8... and don't get me started on the vacuum bags full of baby clothes... plus the old fridge... and the old log burner... I will break her this year!! MWAH MWAH MWAH!!!!!
  9. The change came for me when I had to clear out the house of my deceased parents. I decided I wasn’t going to leave so much stuff for my own children to deal with. Shouldn’t this really be in Off Topic?
  10. Hi all, I'm probably going to regret this, but after 6 months of consistently choosing other basses with wooden necks, I've resigned to the fact that I should probably move this on to fund other musical endevours. This is the jazz bass version with 20 frets and the default fingerboard radius. This build quality on these are amazing, they feel amazing to play and the fretwork is great. The neck is in great condition, there are a few minor scuffs around the neck pocket from where it was installed (see pics). The neck holes were drilled and tapped by a professional luthier, and fit the standard 4 hole Fender pattern (I've had this on two jazz basses with no issues). More information can be found here: https://klosguitars.com/products/carbon-fiber-bass-neck I've installed hipshot ultralite tuners as I prefer the look of the clover peg heads, this also saves some weight over the stock Klos tuners (around 10g per tuner). I can include the original tuners if you wish. Comes with the original installation tools/screws, and a spare set of slightly longer neck screws that I bought as I was worried about the supplied ones not giving enough thread engagement in the neck - this turned out not to be a problem on the two jazz basses it's been installed on. I'm unsure on pricing on this, but I'm looking for £550 + postage Let me know if you have any questions! For those that are curious, this review best matches my experience with this neck:
  11. It was only recently that I acquired a car with enough space to take stuff to the tip. Then I discovered that you have to book a time slot in advance for visiting the tip. Sod that. I am rapidly running out of empty floor space for all me tat.
  12. I will take that 👍
  13. Hi all, I'm selling this Hipshot HE6C-3/8 Ultralite D-Tuner X-Tender 3/8 Bass - Black (20680B). I bought this for a parts project but it never got used. Good condition, minor scuffs around the peg and nut. Mouting screw included. £60 Price includes UK postage
  14. True Love Leaves No Traces — Leonard Cohen
  15. A review of this amp can be seen here, and Vox's product page is worth a look. As the reviewer mentions, this amp is both small and light (< 5kg) and also loud; I've used it for several jams and also a gig (all with a drummer and various saxes etc.) and it has been fine. I never much liked the tone (a bit too rock) or used the effects, so I've replaced it with the recently-discontinued jazz version whilst I still can. I've not included postage in the price as I don't know how much it will be, but in the event of anyone being interested we can discuss options. The box is still present and I'll put in the unused new power supply from the replacement amp (it's identical). There are a couple of small marks on the bottom of the grill surround (pictured) but otherwise it's in good condition and all working.
  16. I'm selling a complete pack of DR Nickel Lo-Rider 40-100, only the G string has been opened and installed, but not cut. I knew from just installing the G string that these strings weren't for me, too much tension compared to the round cores I'm used to. £24 Price includes UK postage
  17. Last night was one of those final rehearsals that was so bad, you just know it’s going to be great on the night!
  18. Just a quick warning to anyone adjusting the truss rod on a Sire bass for the first time. Needed to adjust the one on my V10 fretless after owning it for about 3 weeks it has obviously adjusted to the ambients in my bunker. Sire provide a nice long handled long reach key but it is just slightly too small. I was tempted to go with it, but grabbed the one for my strat which was a better fit. The rod was quite tight and had I used the key supplied it would definitely have stripped either the key or the socket. so just a heads up. Apart from that, the over tight string guide on the headstock and the non existent set up the bass had when it arrived (all sorted) I am quite pleased with the build quality. Sounds killer too.
  19. Today
  20. @eude and @skelf thats an absolutely stunning instrument. Love the approach from ACG to be as bespoke as possible for the player. You are a lucky man with that bass Eude. Jonny
  21. We played Grip more or less correctly for the first time. We also had a go at Nice and Sleazy, we can get to the end of the verse before the wheels falll off.
  22. Every musician knows all about GAS, especially those of us unfortunate enough to be Basschat lifers, but aren't we all ignoring the elephant in the room? I'm talking of course about PHOTOS ... Pathological Hoarding Of Tons Of Shit. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I'm now on my third lockup and it's getting out of hand. Perhaps there should be a Sub-Forum?
  23. Why the ironing board?
  24. It was documented as cut and boost in the manual: www.musicmanbass.global/1978-hangtag-manual/
  25. Something simple - a request from another forum; the bass part to 'Nossa Gente (Avisa La) from Brazil's Oladum (the recording is featured on a 20 year compilation and I cannot find any details of any of the players, never mind the bass. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/nossa-gente-avisa-la-olodum/
