My apologies, but you won't find one. I like to confuse people with this picture. I did the conversion myself in a bid to convince myself I didn't need a Peter Hook BB (BBPH), then ended up with a BBPH a few months later.

Just got back from our gig with the blues band - just a one hour slot as part of the local cider festival. Great crowd despite the rain and evening chill (we were on between 9 & 10pm). Dancers at the end for Baby Please Dont Go, and Shake Your Moneymaker - blues is still alive and well in Cleethorpes! 😎

Only just seen this thread, but incredible work and documentation and congratulations on putting together what looks like a fantastic bass 👏 Dare I say, I much prefer the look of this to yours and any other Wal Mk1 basses I've seen 😬 Like others, dying to hear those sound clips 😉

Bit late to this, I love my Line Audio OM1s which I use as a stereo pair, or use singularly combined with a ribbon for close mic'ing. Their CM4 is meant to be great as well and I very nearly bought one on eBay recently for live use where I would want a cardioid pattern rather than my omnis. Line audio are made in Sweden in small batches and are at bargain prices. https://www.lineaudio.se/ Since leaving the EU it's tricky to get them directly, but there is a UK distributer - I haven't used them as I bought direct years ago. https://pinknoise-systems.co.uk/collections/line-audio---microphones?srsltid=AfmBOoqlo1VbCHSPNyRVw8t286EIRm_r-2ZJiQBzCkJPjHCxW_Fog9k2#

Cheap but good looking basses from gear4music. Nothing new about the configuration but nice new shapes. Short scale 30". Has anyone actually seen one in the flesh. About £200 a pop, could be worth upgrading?

Summary - I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed with the SP1. The setup was decent but a little 'on the edge' for me, I felt it benefited from lowering the pickups and raising the action a bit (truss relief) to let the strings ring a bit more. Soundwise the P pickup is sublime, fat and with clarity, also the J is definitely not thin (it's actually a 6 string sized pickup from Combustion model). Blended in parallel they give an excellent balanced tone where neither pickup is overpowering, and in series it takes on a totally new character - but without overwhelming the output (which is an issue i've had on ALL Combustion based models). It has the Fender vibe to the looks and tone, but with Dingwall zest, it could easily be a 'one to rule them all' instrument. However as I practice bass polyamory, that won't happen with me. n.b. now features block inlays (Neck Illusions) and Canadian knobs

There is still an audience, but it is something of a niche these days. Blues bands are far more popular in various parts of mainland Europe...!
-
@Jack Did you resolve this? I can't recall it being an issue when I owned it. Saying that, it wasn't played that often. I'd quite gladly buy it back though 😉.

Well, this one tried its best to be as bad as I anticipated: Guitarist forgot his pedalboard and had to make an hour round trip back home to get it; keyboardist’s setup refused to send a signal to the desk, fortunately, a spare was at hand and worked, not as good a sound though; halfway through the second set I felt my bass move, my strap had split at the strap pin and was holding on by one thread, went to use a spare from the backup bass, no strap packed 🤦🏻.

Played the inaugural Lanark Country Music Festival yesterday. One of five acts we arrived at Midday for setup and soundcheck. As usual the soundchecks were in reverse order from performance so first up was the fantastic Eagles tribute band, Hotel Caledonia. Due to some technical problems with the PA this took way longer than expected and we had a very short soundcheck. We had brought our own setup so we provided our own in-ear monitor mix and provided separate feeds for all our instruments and vocals with our XR 32 and splitters. Great organisation from the promoters with an entertainers “green room” with a fridge stocked with drinks (including beer and low alcohol verities) and trays of sandwiches. Every band had a their own take on country and Americana music and the whole event was a great success. Japanese Fender Precision, wireless to various pedals and Sansamp into the aforementioned XR 32. In-ear monitoring with X-Live and Behringer PM-16s. Footwear handmade Portuguese cowboy boots! (What else can you wear in a country band?) Horrendous weather on the journey home on the same roads and probably just a few hours before dmccombe7 (see earlier how was your gig posts) travelled on them. A few photos and a bit of phone clip from the back of the room. AQMyImm4sqAtMgabHtbBDAg22pDg5KQz0TZ9TzGLyz2qXAmPJ_7ztcI63Ewot8UUy7xZzv-ugEwI3jJ4I0aFpPpsLLS_njf9jBuMGrIG5EHViyL2WA.mp4

Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!

Bought this December 2023 with the intention of having a smaller bass to noodle on around the house and take to small gigs but I never really bonded with it. It’s a brilliant little bass that’s really well made and sounds great but I could just never really get on with the size, taking this as a sign that short scales just aren’t for me! I paid around £350 for the bass and £110 for the hard case so listing both for around £270. There’s a small scratch/chip/mark on the lower horn that I’ve tried to photograph best I can. Collection from Portsmouth or happy to meet within a reasonable distance, would prefer to avoid posting if possible. Cheers!

So I’ve had time to have a good play around with the various features of this pedal and colour me impressed. The tone control with the added harmonic distortion could become addictive. I’ve only tried it through headphones thus far, and I’ll have to see how that mod-scoop sounds live, but suffice to say she’s making her way onto my pedal board in time for next weekends gigs 😎

I am a fan of johnathan maron also. You can source the bb3000 in Japan. Bassjapandirect has a service where he finds basses you are after. Danny may still have a red one up for sale. One in video is gone now I think. I follow him on YouTube. His helped me identify some basses. I would love a bb3000 or a p/j with a reverse p pickup.
