Thanks @bigthumb, it really is a beauty and a proper professional finish, and now playing much better. If you don't mind a higher action than 2.5-3mm I really don't think you would need to do anything to it. But it deserves the love of someone. I put 3 years into this bass project and would love to see it played by a new owner.

Intonation set up on Cort B5 Element
NancyJohnson replied to neil___lien's topic in Repairs and Technical
First thing I thought was who the hell plays on the 24th fret? A few factors to consider. Strings, old/new? Action at 24th fret? Is the buyer playing the harmonic or the fretted note? Do the other strings intonate correctly up the dusty end? Neck on the wonk? It's feasible that the 24th fret could be in the wrong place, unlikely, but possible. It's also possible that if the action was a bit high at this point, simply depressing the string might throw out the tuning. Given the scale on these is (I believe) 34", you're looking at a fretted note at the 24th fret to be c.8.5" this high up the neck. If the frets are wide/jumbo and haven't been crowned correctly, given the shortness of the scale at this point, this could throw out the tuning/intonation a little. A little. Millimetres, or part thereof, will make a difference at that point, no significant but a difference. -
I'd be more worried about you bumping into things, than your sound!

Pickup too close to the string, perhaps? I've lots of anomalies over the years because the pickups were pulling on the string. -
Freddi375 started following Quilter V803 - Speaker Question

Hello guys Does anyone know if I can run an 8ohm and a 4ohm (2 seperate cabs) together and safely using the Quilter V803? ...and if I do this, do i need to ensure something is changed on the amp for this to work, or will it do it automatically, ie do i leave the watts tuner at 800? Thanks in advance! Freddie 👍

Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!

At best, they are a matter of personal taste and merely something to skim over and not take seriously. They also suffer from the critics trying to be pseudo-intellectual and nominating unlistenable obscure people to show off how hip they are in choosing these people. If I listed my top 5 guitarists, people would disagree. I rarely bite when topics about 'best' players come up. Favourites maybe... best what's the point?

Burns-bass replied to Burns-bass's topic in Basses For Sale
Ok, some more info. Good news is that the bass and case weighs 16.5kg (some idiot was reading the lbs as kg - what was me). LEDs are operated by the switch near the horn and all work. The controls are a mystery to me. I assumed VVT and Boost but they don’t conform to that. The sound is good, strings are low and the neck absolutely insanely easy to play. It’s not even all the way up the neck. I’d recommend a set up and new strings. This has been factored into the price. On quick test, there is a crackle from the jack socket, but I believe this is from lack of use as it settled. No hums or nastiness. No major damage and additional pictures below. Price remains the same. I still can’t send this and don’t want to. I sort of fell in love with it a bit when I plugged it in so I won’t be sad if it remains here. It looks really, really cool. -
PMT - physical shops going downhill?
12stringbassist replied to sammybee's topic in General Discussion
The walls of Gibson and Fenders with no price tags (for legitimate price shift reasons) were off-putting to a small degree. Of course you have to have the stuff in to sell it, but then again the store has to pay for it to stock it. The major companies insistence on stores stocking whole ranges in the past has led to stores dropping the make. Going in to drool over and Elite / Deluxe megabucks P bass is all very well, but the shop had to shift them, otherwise it was just all debt and dusting. The 'starter range' gear is useful to a limited number of people and as some say, it's seemingly a decreasing market. There was so much stock that never shifted. The rise of online shopping is disappointing because there's nothing better than trying stuff then buying it. The loss of PMT means Manchester doesn't have a lot of options left for buyers. -

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
12stringbassist replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
We auditioned our new guitarist on the 2nd (playing 4 songs). Got another 6 off at the next jam night on the 9th. Rehearsed two sets worth of songs last night. Yes, we are having to go for some 'quick wins', but we are out again in July. This is one of them. -
Supply and demand, i.e. D-Rocs are readily available. The Super P is new, more traditional and has sold out immediately, thus price increases are a safe bet for retailers (as well as some of the price increase being at source of production).

Some goth stuff on Spotify. Started out with all of Floodland, by Sisters of Mercy then it moved on to some Cure, Damned and Echo & the Bunnymen

Everything sounds great when done reggae style IMO. If the song was great to start with, then it’s happy days. Not sure about the aesthetics of the Dean Dimebag guitar in this setting though.

This has been partly brought on by the insistence of Fender/Gibson for stores to have entire walls of their product. Now, I like a good Fender as much as the next guy but I have no desire to see a wall of them so I never visit. Shops with a wide choice of brands, a good used section etc will always win out for me...... be they specialist stores with a wide range like Bass Direct, Gallery, BassBros etc or a more general music store with a decent range like RichTone or Andertons.
