  2. And star chasers, as in "we are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars".
  3. Thinking of telly, I have an irrational prejudice against people who comment on TV adverts when I am the only other person in the room. When watching live TV on a channel with adverts (it does happen), I completely ignore the TV during advert breaks, but frequently Mrs Zero (with whom I have been living since Christmas Day 2005[1], so you'd think she knows that I ignore adverts by now) will start going on about the content of an advert that is either showing or has just ended. [1] That's another story
  4. A total steal at £300 for an amazing cab. I just picked up an HD112 and used it properly a few days ago - it's a beast of a cab so I can only imagine what the big brother can do. GLWTS
  5. Hipshot BT extender for Fender older basses I think the model is the BT2. It was fitted to my 1978 Fender Precision but will fit on some reissues from the 70’s too. Great condition as rarely used. See pics. UK post included.
  6. I think it is more than a few people. Try oldies and there are a lot of us. Size, weight and stretch become issues when you have back and joint problems. You might be spared but many of us aren’t. The sweet spot for me at the moment is medium scale but shorties are even more forgiving and may become my standard in the not too distant future as arthritis progresses. At the moment I use a couple in one band because they suit the material we play. I am not always convinced by the kids with full scale basses. They may be able to slap the hell out of a six string for 5 minutes but could they get through a full gig with that beast over their shoulder? I guess Tal Wilkenfeld is the prime example of a small person who can and is a brilliant bassist in multiple styles.
  7. I know, my comment was just a general response. Here's another Pic with a fan from last night. Daryl
  8. Further research shows that there is indeed a second cap fitted, which some people snip for more treble (I won’t) You can see them both here - one rectangle (the one some people snip) and a circular one behind it. I guess the rectangular one is the additional one to better voice the pickup for bass
  9. Waldorf Streichfett String Synth Module A really great module that emulates the classic string machines of the 70’s and 80’s and more. The unit is small and portable and powered by USB. Very flexible sounds and effects. Made in Germany it comes with all accessories and original box. It’s as new as I used it a couple of times with my foot pedals but my new keyboard has some built in string sounds so no longer needed. Pickup preferred but I can post in the UK only. See very extensive review from Gordon Reid below there are also lots of reviews of it in use online for sound examples. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/waldorf-streichfett
  10. I need to move this on really, so I'm going to shift this down to £699. Final price on this, trade wise more specifically I'm only really looking at a PJB BG-80 with cash my way, otherwise cash sale, or potentially other non-amp trades plus cash. Happy to hand deliver or meet within an hour or two of the midlands. I won't ship I'm afraid.
  11. Wasn't suggesting your band Daryl it was in response to @Norris observation at his gig. Dave
  12. I got my GX-100 from them but on Reverb and was able to register the warranty on Boss' website with them appearing in the list of suppliers. I'd trust the seller. Very odd pedal though. I wonder if it'll be a NAMM release? Stripped down GX unit to maybe compete with Valeton prices? You wouldn't create retail packaging for a prototype.
  13. Hi bought 2 sei basses in the nineties and I have to say they are amazing Martin is suck a lovely guy and will want you to be part of the whole process, he builds them for you and really goes into detail…. They are amazing instruments from a master luthier … get one
  14. Thanks Dave - for me part of it is putting something down in writing on a public forum which I can look back at and be reminded of as the year progresses. Will be really interesting and hopefully encouraging to see how we're all getting along over the course of the year with what we've individually decided to prioritise, and see what impact it's having our individual bass playing lives.
  15. Muddy got it right: “Champagne and reefer, ain’t going to touch no cocaine”. However, can’t afford the former and it’s been more than a few years since the latter. I tend not to worry about people smoking some weed. Generally it makes them pretty mellow, although there is always someone who reacts differently. I get decidedly unsettled if it’s obvious that harder drugs are in use. Of course, alcohol is the cause of the most amount of aggro in society and obvious drunks are concerning at a gig, especially if it’s young men.
  16. Country music is massively popular in East Anglia. There is a (somewhat weird) fan-run country music club scene with a good number of clubs in that region. If you’re comfortable with strange requests, brown food, and ingrained racism, have at it!
  17. Today
  18. I'm looking forward to it, do you actually live in Wymondham?
  19. Thanks! I agree. It is far better than the stock bridge in every way.
  20. Talking of irrational prejudices, I remember talking to my Mrs about someone or other on't telly (can't remember who). We both said we didn't like her for some unfathomable reason - we couldn't work out what it was until my Mrs said "she's got an annoying chin!". And that's what it was!
  21. Sad bastard me left the upright in the basket until the price changed 🤣
