  1. Past hour
  2. Oh please do! Our next local one is Feb 14th next year in Crookes.
  3. Told myself I needed a posh "industry standard" pair of headphones for late night silent practice. In came the famous Beyer DT770 PROs. Out went the famous Beyer DT770s via E-Bay! They were no more effective (at that task in particular) than my less than half-the-price price AKGs from Richer Sounds.
  4. ARM Guitar Store, they've saw a fair bit of my money 🙂 They never had an eBay UK store front so I'd order through eBay's US site. Good folk, never had any problems getting replies to questions. Nice to see they're still in business 😎
  5. £500 now for one week.
  6. The CHIC band leader, CHIC songwriter, CHIC founder member, CHIC repertoire. . . . I think we can give him that. And Jerry Barnes is a monster player.
  7. It's very rare that I really enjoy the playing side of it these days. Venues are getting harder to deal with, I've never liked the indie pop rock type covers that we play and brides / grooms / wedding guests annoy me more and more as time goes by. I do it because £400 for hanging out with my mates is better than sitting on the sofa. I have young kids so my wife and i wouldn't otherwise be going out on a Saturday night. The money pays for nice family holidays etc. I earn well enough away from music that I don't have to do it and im not playing in pubs which i have absolutelyno desire to do. I have other musical projects ongoing that I really love but thankfully they're not week in week out type things as there's no real money in it and I just want that to be for fun.
  8. The bridge is part of the vibrating structures of the instrument, tansmitting and receiving vibrations and resonances between the strings and the body which contribute to the overall sound which will be detected by the pickup. So it is in the path betwen the player's fingers and the listeners' ears and replacing a non-failing bridge on a bass ought to be a T1 fail. On a guitar it's T2 as is the whole instrument. Well that's my view anyway.
  9. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  10. Thanks for this, I'd forgotten all about the Jaco exercises. I have the book (somewhere) and have only watched the video once; I just find it too sad to rewatch.
  11. MXR M85 bass distortion. Great distortion pedal in good condition. Velcro on the bottom. £90 delivered. Any questions just ask 👍
  12. Today
  13. I had one of these…. Ended upside my head
  14. How do the jury feel About “filth” like this ? tier2 fail on the pickup, bridges aren’t signal path so I think you’re home Free on that one
  15. I’d probs do this, especially if it’s a bass you actually like. I prefer my 4 strings drop tuned rather than 5 strings personally (A# standard for me)
  16. Greatest speaker to improve any TC Electronic with 8 inches speakers. GLWYS.
  17. Not as hard as you might think, certainly no harder than classical guitar. It was always an ambition of mine as I love both the instrument and that era of music. When I happened to see an old 7-course tenor lute at a local instrument dealers stall at Pontardawe Festival one summer I had to have it (turned out to be a nice one; a 1966 Harwood & Isaacs), and I just worked through Diana Poulton's "Tutor for the Renaissance lute" which is excellent, and there must be so much more teaching available on the internet these days. Good thing is most lute music is written in tablature form, and many of the loveliest pieces are very simple ones; Renaissance music was in many ways just an evolution of folk dances and songs. You should try again! The Early Music Shop does self-build lute kits. Mandolin is lovely too, mind - I have far too many of those as well.......
  18. Another tier 2 fail - new tailpiece for the guitar shown, plus a new guitar pickup. Still no new bass purchases, though.
  19. Yesterday my WP-12 packed up. It's had just over a month of use, perhaps a 3-4 hours every few days. Not impressed. Will submit for a refund in the morning. The unit can be charged but does not turn on. No green light, no audio to the receivers, no red light return charging. I noticed that it had lost all its charge and was warm to the touch.
  20. Have just fitted a set of LaBella Mustangs on my classic vibe Mustang and they’re perfect. Really nice tension and silky smooth.
  21. Have to say that's one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen - an absolute work of art I can only imagine that it plays just as beautifully GLWTS
