At the start of this post I said I'd just had a custom fretless made but as we'd just gone on a three year posting it didn't make the journey and spent it's time in the UK only getting played on the odd trip I made back. Well, now we've moved back to Europe and the bass is with me and in fact is the first time I've heard it plugged in. I've waited 3 years to hear those custom weather report pups! Of course it sounds as good as it plays. Just need to find a band to play it in now.

  20. I have a pair of new old stock FaitalPRO 12PR320 12" drivers sitting here doing nowt. This is the driver used in the Basschat 1x12” cab design (Mk1 I believe). I was going to build a 2x12 cab using these but then a lovely Vanderkley 2x12 came up local to me so the project has been shelved. I also have a complete set of good quality plywood panels to construct the 2x12 available to go with them but due to the weight, the plywood will be collection only. So £250 collected, or buyer to pay postage on the drivers. Plywood available as a package deal with the drivers for an additional £50 but collection only.

Polite… but he stank like a corpse dipped in brine and coated in liquid dead guitarist with chocolate sprinkles - my thought was “jeez, soap is neither expensive nor a second thought, dude” Hang on .. you said “irrational”
  22. Roquefort blue. I don't mind the colour but when I see the words all I can think of is overpoweringly stinky cheese and it puts me off the thing that is that colour.
  23. For me fretless has always been a bit like an effects pedal... something you only pull out when it fits the song. That said, last year I got carried away and played a whole blues set on mine. The audience reacted as if they'd never seen a fretless before, which was good for the ego 😁 but I've resisted repeating the exercise except the odd rehearsal.

  28. Any 5 string with 4 tuners on one side of the headstock and 1 sticking out the other like the proverbial Friday afternoon after-thought. (Oh sh1t, where can we put this extra tuner ....) Anything above a 4 string has to be as balanced as possible.
