  1. Past hour
  2. Bought an MXR Phase 99 from Lee. Prompt communication, quick postage, well packaged - what more could I ask for?
  3. I've thought about this situation and plan A would be to switch to a keyboard bass.
  4. You could try me with a very near offer as I have definitely decided that - however nice this valve preamp is - it doesn't quite suit my needs
  5. Well, after a couple of recent buys that didn't work out (for weight reasons), I messaged Tony about the Spector Ian Hill. He sent videos of its condition and him playing it and we agreed a price that both felt was fair (which took i to account my comments on the post I have quoted). Totally legit guy, very friendly and clearly his prices are flexible. Hope this is helpful
  6. Lovely bass there GLWTS
  7. Flip Joint (The Contortionist).... Post Math Rock? 2nd take, played on my 28.6" scale 4 string Ibanez GSRM20B Mikro Bass, equipped with just a single bridge EMG Geezer Butler J pickup, from the P/J set, wired directly to the output jack socket, and tuned in B standard tuning (baritone tuning), recorded through my "amp-less" setup directly into my Zoom H4n handheld recorder, and only edited through a simple Wav editor.
  8. Here’s my 1992 Status Energy Matrix. Woven graphite bolt-on neck. Phenolic ‘board. Walnut body with original black finish checking all over. The usual dings associated with a 30-odd year old instrument. Updated with EMG active pickups with EMG BTC 2-band preamp, plus a Babicz FCH bridge. Original Hyperactive pickups and preamp will be included. Also the original brass bridge but this has seen better days. Comes with original Status branded Hiscox case. I am willing to courier this but at buyer’s expense and arrangement. Cheers!! Sam
  9. Just been and had a quick look - not sure that's a Uke bass - just a 4string Uke? 🤔 The sentiment remains though! 😆😆
  10. I’ve found that warming up slowly with gentle finger stretches really helps, especially on cold mornings. Lighter strings and a lower action made a big difference for me too.
  11. I'm sorry but you are going to have to provide more information before anyone makes contact. You want serious buyers, you should show yourself to be a serious seller. It's a lovely bass, for sure, but I woud doubt anyone will be interested without the other informatuon that has been suggested. The effort will be worth it, I'm sure. Apologies if that sounds harsh.
  12. Same here but now that I am older I rarely hear the latter part.
  13. Exactly my point re Roy Harper...the man is synonymous with the Stonehenge and Glastonbury outsider/hippy thing, a cornerstone of that 60s folk troubadour scene and yet overlooked by the BBC. I guess there's so much going on at Glasto that they can only shed a cursory light on the darkest corners of the vast site with stages everywhere. If you want to see an act not covered by the beeb, try that act's Facebook page or a fan page. Like myself you might find that audience members have posted their video footage of the gig.
  14. I do actually have a Jamstik Studio guitar which has a USB-powered rechargeable battery, but that also has a MIDI converter in it which takes a fair bit of power. I've also got some Variaxes (Variaces?) which also have large current drains and use two different types of battery. The older ones use a 9V supply (generally in the form of 6xAA batteries), while the JTV ones have a slide-in battery like a smaller version of the battery pack powering cordless power tools. The latter is more convenient, and would be more convenient still if you just plugged a USB lead into the battery pack. One day, all basses will have an on-board computer. Except Fenders, obviously.
  15. Spent most of the morning listening and occasionally watching (I'm working at the same time) to the BBC's "Must Watch Track" selection. It seemed the best way of checking out lots of bands with what I would hope was one of their better songs and performances. For the most part I was struck by how weedy most of the bands sounded. Notable exceptions so far were The Prodigy and St. Vincent, but everything else so far was pretty much just a wash. It was a bit like listening to the radio in 1975/6 after glam rock had fizzled out and before punk. All technically accomplished for sure, but just aural wallpaper, and nothing good with a William Morris pattern, but bland, just wood chip painted magnolia. There was also a worrying amount of C&W influences both musically and sartorially for which there is no need if you are outside of Nashville. And some of it was just awful. Most notably The Libertines, not just weedy but out of tune vocals, too many bum notes from guitars and seemingly under-rehearsed with regards to the intro and ending. Maybe there's some songs and performances I'll like that I haven't got to yet...
  16. I'll try it out tonight when Í'm home. Only tested in for 15 minutes as I had to go to work. Will do a quick comparison with my Anagram's octave.
  17. Out of interest, how does it feel @Chadu25 as just an octave?
  18. Flats on a Precision, with a pick and the tone all the way up. Dave Richmond got this sound on a 60's Burns bass for Je t'aime. Same with Wilton Felder on I Want You Back etc, with his original shape 1969 Precision. The finger style makes it a rounder sound. And in all cases, thousands of pounds of studio equipment.
  19. I noticed he was using the Ibanez at Glastonbury at the weekend. It was a great set.
  20. Doesn't look that bad, to be fair what he says is actually 100% correct. It has one pickup, that is similar to old fenders and lots of other guitars and he says it not likely to be a Fender. Again that is 100% correct. "No branding but has just one pick up similar to old fenders but not likely to be." At £52.47 its not bad value. However it looks like it's 3/4 size or is that just the perspective. I note that you could probably slip another guitar under the strings as well. Rob
  21. How long before they start being discounted? Having been burnt badly on the previous Starstream, I certainly wouldn’t buy one of these for that money, even though they are now Japanese made. It seems like a lot of cash for a very marmite design (one that I like BTW). You could spec a Maruszczyk Frog, or the Mensinger equivalent for similar, or less money.
  22. Sorry I won't be able to help you out on that dear chap this time around...but I'll happily join you on the 2nd hand waiting list! (And I've got first dibs on any kit coming onto the market from @SumOne under our long term 'gear' supply arrangements). Wow! This thing is already shaking up the market - just checked what's been recently listed in the FS section in terms of synth pedals, and clearly a lot of folk (understandably IMO given how good this thing appears to be!) are, I'm guessing, wanting to make the switch.
  23. Today
  24. I've had that mentioned to me many times before. Well actually, only once or twice, and it might actually be just once, now I think about it.
