  2. My main band is 'The Hulla' which was formed pre-lockdown as a result of a few people in the village getting together to learn to play ukelele and guitar as a social thing. It quickly expanded, mainly as a result of the band leader (guitarist and front man) organising a gig at the village fete. By the time I joined in 2021, the band had become a 13 piece with guitars, drums, bass, keys, a small brass section and a couple of ukes. They had turned the annual fete into a fairly large multi-band festival (for the last couple of years we've sold around 800 tickets - it benefits from the caravan holiday parks situated around the area). I'm not from the village but have been vetted and found acceptable by the locals 😀 We play covers and the most accurate description of the style of music would be a wide range of rock given a fairly unique spin by the line-up. The gigs we play are booked through word of mouth for weddings, birthdays, Xmas parties and the like. All the gigs we play are for charity so individual band members are not paid but band expenses (e.g. the PA and a new marquee for this year's festival, which will also be used by other events in the village) are covered. We usually average 8-10 gigs a year. Playing in The Hulla band is probably the most fun I've had in any bands in a 35 year gigging 'career'. There are no unnecessary egos, the singer/front man has a remarkable ability to interact with any audience and we have a laugh on and off stage. This is a link to a video from a wedding reception we played last year in a tepee. And this photo has appeared elsewhere in BC - our front man crowd surfing at this year's festival. He kept singing, too!
  3. Cherry Pie - Warrant
  4. American Pie - Don McLean
  5. The volatility of the dollar exchange rate might be a factor in some retailers pricing. They might be erring on the side of caution in predicting future rates. There's two parts to the equation when it comes to these basses. One part is marketing and the other part is the reality of what you are actually getting for your money. The relic basses are part of the marketing. The production models are the substantive bit. The Pino Palladino association is very much part of the marketing, but it's also what has defined the actual bass you are being offered. Essentially it's a nice '70's style two band Stingray with considerable attention to detail but also benefitting from modern improvements in manufacturing. To me it's a lot more appealing than the Retro Stingray. I can't see what's to get upset about a Pino Signature as an option, especially when lately there has been a slew of signature models for bassists whose main claim to fame is having a high profile on YouTube/social media ect. They are not significant recording artists either as sidemen/women or band members. In contrast, if PIno doesn't warrant a signature bass who does?
  6. Time to get back on topic perhaps?
  7. Pork And Beans - Weezer
  8. I swapped half a car full of gear for it and not looked back. I think @Hellzero offered some advice and it’s been a trusty bass ever since.
  9. My current band is Tea Time Funk Club, based between Manchester & Liverpool. We're a covers band playing chilled out, funky versions of 90s RnB, classic soul and pop - a similar vein to Scary Pockets and Couch. It's completely different from anything I've done before, a real workout as I have to be much more precise and considered in stripped back arrangements. Four piece - Bass, drums, keys & vocals with hopefully a sax player on the way We've been together about a year - started gigging last March but getting the ball rolling has been slow going. We've done two gigs with another in August but we're still trying to find the right venues for the stuff we do and then get our foot in the door. Videos:
  10. Can worms of .., bitter rearrange
  11. Yep - always wanted one, but slab bodies exacerbate my nerve pain; so that’s a few quid saved 😂
  12. Absolutely agree! In terms of this one, I don’t know why you wouldn’t buy a genuine late 70s Stingray? I have one and it’s a beast.
  13. Welcome Alan.
  14. I totally forgot to add that in , Thanks Clarky...
  15. The wife and I have been tentatively planning a trip to Scotland next year (independent of my new ACG build), but I should have an ACG of my own by then. Hmm maybe I'll ask Alan about that slimmer profile. I already feel like I've bothered him so much, I'm scared to ask anymore questions!
  16. Ah dammit 😆 Yes it does, the asymmetric profile is bloody lush
  17. Today
  18. Bought a Glockenklang Preamp from cetera. As described and arrived next day! Great communication. Would certainly deal with Gary again in the future.
  19. I'm in two "main" bands... Weeds, formerly Dredd and the Badass Weeds were formed in Leeds in 1985 with members going off in 1986 to do stuff like Utah Saints, Cassandra Complex, New Fast Automatic Daffodils etc, mainly doing funk and reggae extended jams for parties. But we got back together for occasional giggage and recording and finally - last year - produced our masterwork (actually, it's our only work). This got seized on by a Chester radio station who've convinced us to do an actual gig. So we're rapidly writing 5 more songs from our various corners of Europe (West Ireland, Shropshire, Manchester, Sheffield, South of France) ready for our one and only rehearsal just before the gig in October. Other band is funkpunk with female singer and 2 basses, we're called Choked and have been going for around 5 years. We get together far more than Weeds! In fact we've got 4 gigs coming up including Rebellion Festival. We've got an album and a single with our old drummer...
  20. Hi folks, Selling Sire V7 2nd gen in Lake Placide blue color. The thing is as new bar that tiny scratch/scuff at the back which looks worse in the picture than in reality is, and if you look very carefully you may find some tiny marks i can't even see.. Simply, in excellent condition.. I am a second owner, the bass was brought from France by 1st owner because he could not get this color here in UK that time (that's what i was told.)So he paid duties on the top of purchasing price.. Replaced the knobs by something from Guyker from Aliexpress if memory serves me well (the stacked ones), the solo ones are just plain dumb knobs you just slide on to the shaft. I may even have the original ugly ones lying around somewhere if you desperately need them.. DR Black Beauties on it, must be plenty of life left in them given that i own basses but don't know how to properly play them Not in a hurry to sell it but it just sits in the stand as i got myself something from much higher range & make. That's not to say this is bad bass and you know how good this stuff is anyway..I've got another one, 1st gen V7, i bought off Basschat members years ago that i still keep.. Collection only as i can't see myself posting it, unable to pack etc.. But could deliver to Warwickshire or places around (not too far) as i do go there on occasions. Perhaps could trade it for an amp Aguilar TH350 or 500 if anyone wants it that way?
  21. Mooer Micro D.I. Brand new in box and never been used. £40 posted.
  22. As much as I'd love a good fondle, I'm based in Central New York, so that might be difficult. Does your neck still have the assymetric profile?
