E bay tale of woe (yes another) and missing bass!

Well, if anyone on here happens to come across this bass at a gig, can you have a peek at the backline to see if they're also using my missing EBS combo. Thanks -

That one is really bad. The only specialist how shop there is in the UK. Glad it's retirement not bankruptcy. Interesting that the stock is not transferring to caswell strings ( not their market i guess) ...going to auction instead. "OUR HUGE SELECTION OF BOWS IS NOW BEING AUCTIONED by Amati Instruments Ltd., 10A Chandos Street, London, W1G 9DQ (2 minutes walk from the B.B.C’s Broadcasting House), 0207 099 7114." Doubt there will be any bargains once auctioneers fees are added, but worth a look. https://app.amati.com/en/auction/1128-the-hamilton-caswell-retirement-sale-5th-6th-november

I don’t think there’s an issue (not that I want to speak for Al Krow), but I had the same question when I saw it. I thought “that font colour isn’t great under bright light against the red. And that’s could be an issue on stage.” I think it’s a totally fair observation. And it’s valid. As for “what more do you need?” Er, to be able to read the other labels. If they weren’t important or needed, they wouldn’t be in there, right? I know it’s super hard when people are not mega positive about things you’ve worked on, but nothing is perfect for everyone and this is included. Trust me, I know, I’m a published game designer and have seen plenty of scathing comments about my work. In fact there is an entire YouTube video dedicated to discussing how much of a ‘woke c**t’ I am. But honestly, you don’t have to defend every not quite positive point raised on here. I really don’t want to cause offence, but I am very interested in this pedal, having tried v1 and am super keen what it offers today. I check in here a lot to see the updates, slowly convincing myself to buy one. It’s not perfect for me (nothing is!), but I’m getting close. But every time I check this thread, there is a defensive tone from your posts that is surely noticed by more than me. I really think you just need to not defend the pedal so much. Stick to the amazing content you post, valuable info, and generally useful info. Fact is, I come here to read the stuff you post about the pedal, but am also put off by some of the tone you take when talking about the pedal. I also think the font choice on the red ain’t great, and it is on my list of niggles with that VIP version. One of very few niggles. But don’t let that bother you, just let it bother me (and Al Krow). Thanks for keeping the community informed of the development of this unit, and for answering the mountain of questions that get thrown at you.

Ah thanks. That puts it in to the same category as the One then. Sorry, one more question. Is it possible to turn, say modulation on and off, or would it be a case of jumping between two patches, one with and one without?

I remember trying one of these (same finish & neck) at a guitar & bass show at the NEC. It was extremely good, which was what one of my companions thought too. This companion had around 50 basses at the time, with some real boutique beauties in that collection. I said that if he didn’t buy it, I would. Presented with the possibility of missing out, he bought it. I often think that I shouldn’t have given him the option and bought it myself. In short, a really impressive piece of kit.

It's a shame Newcastle is so far away, it's a set up I'd love to get a really good look at. -

Honestly did not know the song but had to check it out as its Rob Mullarkey. I see you have a search feature on your site. _Hopefully_ sometime in the future we get to see some more from this bassist But thanks for your work man!

I think that may be down to poor camera resolution in low artificial lighting; some of the other gear looks a bit washed out too (Mavis). That aside, what’s the issue exactly? The display is perfectly legible and you can see the foot switches to press them; what more do you need?

May be a while off, we're still at F1-4 VIP methinks? 😅

Yes, absolutely. For that simple reason that the octave strings on an 8 string bass will have lower output than the bass strings. This way the artificial notes can be lower in the mix and sort of hide behind the real once, rather than having the artificial notes be the dominant ones. That said I am not really looking to emulate an 8 string bass, I just happen to like the tone I get from adding an octave.

Sensing @Cornwall Steve's GAS is nearing critical levels. I'll try and push it over the edge - form factor which I bang on about with EHB's like these are that I never get back or shoulder problems and the passive mode on my (Ibby) EHB means I never run out of battery after hours in front of the DAW. Also, the price is good on the Sire being £200+ cheaper for the 6er than my Ibby. (I've had it for a couple of years though.) Plus I like playing chords on a bass - there I've said it! And they sound glorious on a 6er.

Status 40th Limited Edition Series 2000 - reduced to 7500£
Rondoggy replied to headless101's topic in Basses For Sale
Just a small point. This is one of the limited edition series, not the the 40th anniversary series that had a special logo and LEDs. More faithful to the originals, almost as rare as the 40th and personally I'd prefer this beauty to one with a 40th anniversary logo on it. If this was in the UK I'd be on the way with cash in hand, after a bit of negotiation 😉. GLWTS, and I hope you feel better soon. -
