Question: Filling pocket screw holes on maple neck

Either way you could use a plug cutter and make your own dowel so you can have the grain whichever way you want it, luthiers usually do this. -

Fender has certain build standards so you know parts are interchangeable, as evidenced in a parts bass thread. They have a defined hierarchy for their products to match certain price points and quality expectations; however, the respective ranges can overlap and some lesser ones may be surprisingly good. I have a Squier Strat and a Fender USA Strat: they are both Strats, but each element of the USA one is noticeably higher quality than the Squier; I also have a MIM Strat and it falls somewhere in-between the two. A lot of other companies businesses are based on copying and/or replacing Fender original designs/parts; again they place their products at certain price points based on functionality and quality. Fender is the industry leader, others follow. Many products are deemed to be "better than a Fender", but the fact they feel the need to mention "Fender" tells the story. If you buy a Fender you have a pretty good idea of what you can expect to receive. If you buy another brand (I have Tokai, Levinson Blade, and parts Strats) you may or may not get something suitable "for the price", but it'll always be compared to the respective Fender in some way.

Five of us cellists from orchestra got together yesterday for a pleasant lunch followed by playing music arranged for cello quartets and quintets. Event was hosted by one of the cellists in a rather nice house with stunning views.

For sale is the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 which has the AUX input as well. Great sounding pedal with amazing ability to sculp both the tone on the preamp side and the distortion on the drive side of the pedal. There is some very impressive sounds that can be had out of this pedal. The pedal comes with the original box and all the goodies that came with it. I bought this pedal 3-4 years ago but the sound is a bit too much for the bands I am in. I was always hoping to use it but it has literally sat in the box the whole time. I had thought I might use it also as an emergency DI for gigs but I have never needed it. I would be really interested in trades for Iron Ether Nimbus and/or Polytope because the funds coming from this will go towards those pedals. If I was playing heavier music this pedal would absolutly be staying. £270, £260 including postage. Bank transfer or PayPal F&F.

Seconded - also another vote for the Empress compressor.

It's a great idea, I'm not personally keen on the lower horn shape but they do sound fantastic. If you can get hold of some measurements for me, I'll definitely be able to provide you with an answer. -

If you like compression, Id suggest a compressor pedal rather than the onboard. There are some decent inexpensive ones. Ive gone a bit more high end with the Empress Bass Compressor - Brilliant bit of gear

I don’t have a Z3 (yet) - was thinking of picking one up as a modding project, specifically to put one of these necks on! -
Thanks again for the replies. I put a new JJ valve in when I got it used late last year. Had an Eden in it and the very mild overdrive sounded fizzy and high pitched. I emailed Ashdown and Dave Green replied in about 10 minutes and answered a question and recommended JJ for it. Helped a Yank like me (twice) with nothing to gain but good will and made me even more of an Ashdown fan. Love that company! After some brief experimenting at home I found the following: I can get it to hit into the red if I play hard (with another Pbass), which I don't typically do, so that's clearly some of it. I notice more overdrive compression disengaged, but I like a little so I'm figuring that out a bit. I'll have to try the old Pbass and see how that goes, but I think I may not be having as much of a problem as I thought. At rehersal I don't have time to be fooling with the amp, so I'm limited on what I can notice and adjust.

Interesting. It's not just a change in ownership that can hurt a band. If you lose your main contact you can end up back on the streets too. We had a great on going gig at The Wilson Performing Arts Center. Our contact got fired and we never got asked back. Daryl

Agreed. It's the " Don't Stop Believing " type cover bands that bring the women in. Daryl
