Emergency amp needed: Advice on options please.
Phil Starr replied to Marvin's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Deltabass is roughly the same power as the Gnome/Elf which I use regularly and is also why I don't really need the Peavey. The Gnome does the job. If I think the amp is going to struggle to make the volume I'll trim the bass a tiny bit and boost the mids to make the amp cut through. Hope the gig goes well. -

I get that Daryl. When we are playing every weekend or every 2 weeks regularly we don't bother rehearsing but sometimes we can go 4-6wks without a gig and always throw in a 3hr rehearsal the week before the next gig just to refresh things in our head. I can understand that if playing regularly you don't really need to rehearse unless adding new songs. Dave -
Its an odd one but we played a very small bar in Paisley with the Glam covers band and they charged £12 a ticket and sold out. The owner literally closed the bar for an hour to clear out the afternoon drinkers but that was a rare event and we played it twice because we knew the owner thru our punk band that played there regularly. When we played it as the punk band it was free entry. Dave

lownote started following Baritone guitar advice needed

Anyone got any advice on where to fit a baritone guitar into the mix at a blues jam? I just bought one and I'm a bit stumped what to do with it. Tuned BEADF#B, it's like a regular guitar but a fourth down. So I could play rhythm if I can remember guitar chord shapes I last played 50 years ago. And transpose the chords, so for a B concert sound I need to finger an E chord, and so on. Or I could play guitar lead, which I've never done before, but the very basics seem to be simple enough according to beginner videos I have watched. Or I could effectively play six string bass but an octave up, at least on the bottom four strings anyway. And six string bass I have recent experience of. Or all three of the above. Thoughts or experience would be appreciated. EDIT: Sorry, I just seen there's a bari strand. Perhaps if some kind mod could move my post over?

Think the wedding band thing over here is dependant on your bank balance. When we got married 30 yrs ago this Sunday coming we searched for ages to get the right band that had a decent reputation as being good and not daft money. Have to admit i was happy with them. Would i do it again ? Probably not as most people at weddings would be just as happy with a DJ or even just a playlist thru a PA.. Its much the same when you play birthday parties. Most people aren't there to watch the band and would be just as happy with a playlist in the background. Dave

Hello, Very cool little Boss modeller for sale. Sounds great but I'm just not a modelling guy, I'm admitting defeat. Boxed, also comes with additional Bright Onion switch. £350 delivered please. Would consider trades for bass gear - amps, basses (J flavoured), whatever... In good condition, a few scratches on the bottom as pictured. Album with lots of photos here: https://imgur.com/a/9pniK6g

I did this for a few years, mainly on the Americana circuit. I then took my Jazz out for a multi-(rock) band all dayer in Sheffield and confused the soundman - he couldn't work put why my bass sounded the way it did! 😸 I think all the other bassists were active 5-string players and I had that setup.

Not at the moment. Ive recently joined a alt rock band in Langport. We're writing and recording at the moment. Gigs later in the year hopefully. I was in a doom metal band in Devon before. My oldest daughter plays bass for Butane Skies, they're playing in Frome (and everywhere else) pretty regularly.

Fair point. In which case I hate 5 string bass! -

***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

This one has probably already been mentioned. You've been told the band is breaking up. Then you find out the band is still together only your no longer a member. Daryl
