I have a single cut Wishbass. First single cut I’ve owned. Looks weird. Gets a lot of attention from visitors. Plays great, sounds great, looks bonkers. That’s my in depth review.

What's the going rate for Stingrays nowadays?
Misdee replied to Supernaut's topic in General Discussion
Stingray Specials definitely go for more. FWIW, I think the Specials are by far the best Stingrays ever. The older basses had all sorts of problems that the Special version solved. They don't sound the same as a vintage Stingray, that's true, but I prefer the sound of the Special. It sounds enough like a good Stingray for my needs, and its so much more consistent and comfortable to play. Build quality is superb and the overall design is so well thought out. It's just a shame so many of the stock finishes are so bloody awful that it hurts my eyes to look at them. Try playing a vintage-style Stingray with a slab body weighing ten pounds and upwards for a while and then pickup a Special and it's a relief. -
You’d think a bass magazine would check… 😂

This is so much more than any claim of nepotism..... and they are so much better than they have any reasonable right to be. Great song and feel, fantastic harmonies and a cool late 60's/early 70's Crosby, Stills & Nash vibe. Love it and looking forward to their debut album. Evan Stanley (Son of Paul Stanley of KISS) and Nick Simmons (Son of Gene Simmons of KISS). KISS haters, keep your comments to yourself...

Years subscription for me too. So looking forward to reading a proper magazine again. Happy days. Dave -
Walshy probably a ridiculous question, but if you A/B'd the Noble vs the Nobelium how close do you get?

Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Belka replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Once the fretboard is removed I'd assume it would be unsalvageable. The rest of the neck would be fine but I've never heard of any luthier/tech being able to reattach one. -

Markbass Little Mark 58R 500 Watt Amp Head I bought this new from Thomann in August 2025 and have used it a handful of times in rehearsal and gigged it twice. It is like new and has been kept in its original box most of the time. I have decided to move it on as I have gone back to the convenience of using a Markbass combo for most gigs. This is a really powerful amp and has the latest MB preamp. Comes with box and mains lead. Made in Italy. No trades sorry. I can post at your cost in the UK if you can’t pick it up. Weight: 2 kg Series: MB58R Power Handling: 500w@4ohm / 300w@8ohm Preamp: Solid State Power Amp: Mpt (Mark Proprietary Technology) Power: 500w@4ohm / 300w@8ohm EQ: Low – Mid/low – Mid/high – High Old School Filter: Flat/Scooped Mid/Fsw Switch Other Features: XLR Line Out With Level Control and Pre/Post EQ and Gnd Lift Switches, Bi-band Limiter | Mute Switch, FX Send/return Dimensions: 10.87”/ 27.6 Cm (W); 3.27”/ 8.3 Cm (H); 10.08”/ 25.6 Cm(D)

I absolutely agree with your comments and as you can see from the front cover of our sample issue we will be looking at bassists from all genres and we want to ensure that whatever you play you can get something from the magazine. I'm going to chat to as many people as I can at the show to galvanise what people want to read about but like you I share an interest in what the average grass roots working bass player is using and why. Hopefully you will give us a try and like what you see/read!

I Love Single Cuts but TBH i can't tell you that plugged in they sound any different than any other bass with the same pickup+placement/hardware/string combo (i also do not do the "tonewood" myth) I've seen some people will argue the extra "mass" add to Tone/Sustain...but again i can't say i ever noticed (also check out BASStheworlds YT Hollow body HB review that has a HB in the MM sweetspot...yep you guessed it it sounds like a MM...) i do feel a bit more rumble/sound/tone in my chest due to the way they sit against your torso which i think is nice, this might be what people think is enhancing their tone (is this a bit like Bone induction earphones?) I've built/building a few Singlecuts myself and im also looking at a BTB SC 5 the "BTB865SC" (wow ibby have such memorable Names don't they!) Make sure you order a WIDE strap if you do get one as even the lighter ones are still quite heavy, So SC basses ....are (still) Marmite ?

Very much this. I've got a 91 Stingray (no case) that I don't use much and I've been advised by a couple of guys in the trade that I could easily get £1,500-1,600 for it (although I am in no rush to cash in on it). Ten years or so ago, I was buying and selling US Stingrays for £700-800, which then creeped up to about £1k. The price has definitely gone up since then. -
On my lineless/unmarked board they are located on the fretline/note position.
