  2. for a business venture, I'm not sure how far away from the fender neck pocket would make sense commercially. We all know that the graphite necked stingray is probably way cooler - but sales numbers! I've no idea about wood vs PEEK - I personally would go for peek as in my mind a manufacturer who uses synthetic materials to make necks make sense, where if I wanted wood I'ld get all wood - I guess it's how it feels, if PEEK/Bakerlight feels good it is good.
  3. Best £275 you will ever spend.
  4. £70 includes U.K. postage. MXR analogue chorus, all working, mains and battery. I prefer my digital MXR one.
  5. Now £450! Here's my Markbass cab up for sale. It is in near new condition and includes a Roqsolid cover. The top carpet has a couple of indents where the amp was placed on it. Other than that minor sign of normal use it's as new. It has been used several times at rehearsal at very low volume levels and at one gig where it was only used as a monitor as I was going through the PA. It is a great cab. A real one cab solution weighing approximately 18Kg or 40lbs. I'm 70, under 11 stone, have osteoporosis and have suffered a spinal fracture and I'm happy to lug it around. Specs briefly are 2 x 12" ceramic speakers 600 watts Piezo switchable tweeter with 2 levels of attenuation 57.8 x 60 x 47 cm https://www.markbass.it/product/mb58r-122-p-4/ Tone is very Markbass, i.e. effective. Collection or meet up only. I'm in Kendal, Lake District, NW England.

  6. All prices reduced by £5 and delivery to UK included. I made space on my pedal board for an HX One. It replaced my Xotic Bass RC Booster and the pedal I thought I'd never sell, my Creation Audio Grizzy. So I now have 5 pedals sitting around doing not a lot and a hankering for a Stomp Creation Audio Grizzly. £135 Flattley Poison Ivy Fuzz £85 Black Country Custom The 85 Octave £80 Xotic Bass RC Booster £60 TC Electronics 3rd Dimension Chorus £20 All in top condition. In fact the 85, 3rd Dim and Flattely are like new. All boxed except for the Grizzly (I will keep looking). Velcro'd as per the photos. Peter

  7. Just picked this up, thanks I havent really pushed it to be honest but will give that a try
  8. Well I think everyone has had a chance to snaffle this and, having played through my Markbass combo, I can see some specific band situations this would be good for (eg recording), even if I have to run the power separately from my otherwise 9V only pedal board. Withdrawing and keeping in reserve in the hope those band situations arise!!!!
  9. I have realised that as I now smack into middle age, and I like being home with my family, I do not entertain the prospect of flying with a double bass in toe anymore. I have spent several years planning this bass, alas I have only had it for less than one year, so I should let it go before it becomes a part of the family, like my other 2 double basses. It is a 1950s beautiful hybrid German bass imported in the UK by Foote of London in the 1950s. My luthier friend Will Mackay took its time and made a great neck off job with a very simple bolt system. He cleverly pinned the soundpost (see photo of the back and you’ll see the wee pin) The guys of case-it in Glasgow made me a relatively light and bulletproof flight case, which was not cheap, but it was still less than half the price of those more moulded cases. I just took it to Morocco on Ryanair, no mean feat! Weight of case & bass 32kg, so I could fly on Ryanair with the bass in the boot for just their standard £60 for musical Instruments: I think that’s pretty astounding if I may say so myself. The case is not a fancy moulded one, but it was professionally made: it has sturdy wheels, an extending handle and 4 sturdy carry handles too. A proper, proper flight case made by people who make flight cases for very expensive stuff, so it is very secure! also come with a pickup and a padded soft case to protect the body in the case and for you to carry the bass around once you are at destination and you need to get from hotel to gig etc… The price is negotiable, but I think you will agree it is a very great price, nearly half the price of much lesser removable neck basses out there. if you think of converting your own bass to a removable neck, you may already have found out that the neck work will cost around £2500 and the case around £2000…and that’s without the bass! This bass is an actually great sounding instrument, plus it looks super cool. Will I regret selling? Of course I will! But I’m learning to let go…and my family needs space…and the money helps. Trades? Tempt me, but I would still need a large part of the price to be cash. I realise I’m not around the corner for most of you, but these things are best seen and tried. So I really encourage you to come see it, play it, see the neck come and off, etc…Still, postage is, in theory, possible…yet I hope you realise it would cost you a bomb and I would take zero responsibility for its outcome. please ask any questions. Thank you for looking and enjoy the photos! (I cut the address of the luthier out of the certificate of authenticity photo for privacy purposes)
  10. I bought an MM4 tinted in green with matt lacquer and no front markers. It has very good profile to my hands, and it is as wide as a P (checked this from Dawn). But they refused to sell any other headstock design. I had to ask for a Status neck (like a wide 5), but they said that all other neck designs are sold only as complete Status instruments. Fair game. I sold my first Status lined fretless neck years ago. It was a thin J that I didn't like so much, but this MM4 is excellent. I suppose @Kiwi has to specify the details, and then we'll see his selection of necks. Were the dimensions good or bad to me does not matter, his work matters and is super interesting.
  11. Yep def sounds like you're spot on with the band. Is it a Sandberg TM4 and did you change both pick ups ? Did you keep original pre-amp ? Wouldn't mind some details as i find the Sandberg pups a bit weak too. Dave
  12. Oo! Shiny!
  13. Asked to comment on a famous photograph of himself and Geldof together prior to Live Aid, Ant tells Uncut magazine, “That was when I was asked by Sir Bob to promote this concert. They had no idea they could sell it out. Then in Bob’s book he said, ‘Adam was over the hill so I let him have one number.’ One thing I’d like to do (in the photo) is kick him up the a**e. “Doing that show was the biggest f**king mistake in the world. Knighthoods were made, Bono got it made, and it was a waste of f**king time. It was the end of rock ‘n’ roll, now hippies run the world, like f**king (British festival) Glastonbury… I hate hippies.”
  14. I've enjoyed listening to the rerun on the radio. I was 6 at the time, I do remember watching it though. Highlights so far are The Who, Simple Minds, Bowie, Ultravox, U2 and Sting with Branford Marsalis.

  16. I think that's all the chassis holes drilled/punched/cut now:
  17. I knew what this would be as soon as I finished reading the thread - either an NS2000 or a Q4. Sellers never seem to know what these basses are!
  18. As above, welcome back BA
  19. Cheers buddy 🤟🎸
  20. My hairline feels like it was, back then I resembled a bog brush, now I resemble a cue ball.
  21. Welcome back to the low end!
  22. I think you’ll be absolutely fine with that head and cab for all the live situations you described. It’ll have plenty of volume 👍
