  2. I was depping last night, so was the drummer. We have both worked with this band before so it was OK, a few interesting endings though. He is a very good drummer so I enjoyed the night. The band leader was talking about this being his favourite rhythm section, and was threatening to offer us the gig. I know the bass player and would prefer to keep on good terms with him, and I'm not sure I want to be in a Top 40 cover band again. But it's a good reaction. You've got to keep your name and number at the top of their list.
  3. I have noticed that for me, in case of, could always have a look https://snap-dragon-guitars.com/products/snap-dragon-e-bass
  4. No mistakes from Thomann yet, though a bass gigbag had it's strap fixing tear away from the case and they refunded it in full and didn't want the bag back. Nothing but great experience from them this past year.
  5. Yeah, there is a lot of variety in these pedals, but i just cant get the openness ive heard from others, inc my old HX stomp, just something missing from the top end. No sparkle, even if i boost it all. Playing along to music is fine, so im sure in a band situation I’ll never notice it.
  6. Thanks - yes, it's got the MX serial, so I wasn't thinking it was a Highway but rather if they did some things at the Mexican factory too. It cost me £100; I reckon it's been chucked about a bit. It is a good bass though; I may strip it at some point, but there's a risk as to what the underlying wood looks like.
  7. 🙂 In that case, the Spirit. Alternatively, you could go for a (Steinberger Spirit) guitar and learn come complimentary skills.
  8. I'll agree that through IE/headphones there are are lot of amp SIMs that just sound too anaemic or polite. Adding cab SIMs via my recent acquisition of an HX Stomp helps but some the classic bass cab SIMs are truly awful. Simply scrolling without reading what a cab is, has revealed that some choices such as 1x12 'guitar' cabs sound as good as anything that is marked 'bass' and has improved the IE sound. The MS60 does have a couple of cab tweaks which can really help.

  10. Fantastic little kit, life saver for writing songs at practice. The condenser mics are 👌

  12. Boss are loads of peoples favourites. When they came in in the late 70s, early 80s there was pretty well nothing to touch them and they remained that way for a long time. They came up with the standards for many effects and kind of defined both the size of effects and the controls we expected of them. And even the colours we expected effects to be! I think they are still the reference for what effects are supposed to sound like.
  13. The Blackstar mini bass always looked quite nifty to me: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Blackstar-Carry-On-Travel-Bass-Guitar-ST-White/5GY5
  14. Never owned one, but remember that they had a great sound and reputation. GLWTS
  15. Bump for price drop before it goes to Bass Direct. Now £1800.
  16. Hipshot BT3 d-tuner machine head. Fits older Fender basses. Complete with ferrule and screws. Price includes postage
  17. Robert bought a microphone from me in timely and efficient fashion. Recommended Basschatter!👍
  18. Not at the moment. Ive recently joined a alt rock band in Langport. We're writing and recording at the moment. Gigs later in the year hopefully. I was in a doom metal band in Devon before. My oldest daughter plays bass for Butane Skies, they're playing in Frome (and everywhere else) pretty regularly.
  19. Bought a Laney head from David. Simple and straightforward transaction.......quick to reply to my messages and a lovely bloke. Deal with confidence. Paul
  20. Reduced to £250. Bargain for a gorgeous lovely sounding active jazz.
  21. Reduced to £60 including UK shipping. Another thing I thought I needed but didn’t. This has had less than a couple of hours of use. I messed about with it, then put it in a cupboard. Pretty much as new.
  22. I was going to buy a new rumble when I started 3 years ago as I think they are the best sounding combo by a long way BUT I ended up getting a GK combo really cheap. Theres not many around and people don’t go for them as they are a bit unknown but my 112 200w combo kicks ass and is plenty loud enough - I go it for £150. Look out for the old 400rb combos too - very reliable and sound amazing but heavy - if you are keeping it at home that won’t matter. I think you’d be really happy with a relatively recent Rumble though.
