  1. Past hour
  2. Brandy & Coke — Led Zeppelin
  3. This is a good read. Wine journalist moves to Cuba to learn the double bass. It’s as much a study of the music and culture as it is the bass. https://amzn.eu/d/0dP0zXY
  4. Mine, even with the HAZ-03 units in, don't like the 2.4 GHz wireless NUx bugs.
  5. Ah awesome, that’ll be where I picked that up from then - I’ve never really looked into one before, but have been on the lookout for a Streamer Jazzman 5 which is the same pickup config on a different body shape, will definitely give this some consideration
  6. I've found a few choice things in CC over the years... Years ago in the Basildon one, I found the very first Warwick Vampyre ever made, serial 1001. Confirmed by Hans P Wilfer via email. Also recently found a Gibson Les Paul Studio signed by 30 or so legends including Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, Tony Iommi, Meat Loaf etc. Again, independently confirmed. Some odd treasures do pop up in CC from time to time!
  7. Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK
  8. This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers
  9. Read up on it and we have been in contact with the ME Society currently on waiting list for the local ME Specialist team. But will take any advice - PM me
  10. Hi there. Anyone out there who plays on natural gut strings, I'm wondering what oil people use to keep their strings in good fettle. I've always just wiped mine down with olive oil from the kitchen every so often. Is there a 'special' oil I should have been using all this time?
  11. Hi thanks for your offer but i don't really want to sell them seperatley regards jay
  12. I'll have the Valeton thingy
  13. I do simple routs like this with forstner bits and chisels – I could easily adapt one of my existing humbucker cavity drill templates if you want to go down that route. Just give me the dimensions.
  14. Every time I see this I have to quickly close down my browser. 🥵
  15. Beautiful bass!!
  16. Price dropped to £1950 🎸
  17. We played O'Neils in Bristol a while back. We thought we did ok. We asked how it went and for a rebooking. "yeah, the set list was great, but you weren't loud enough". We haven't been asked back. Bearing in mind that we have a 3k rig, in a smallish venue, and every time I've seen a band in there I've had to leave because my ears were bleeding. Seriously, if it was a work environment with HSE, you only be able to play for 15 mins.
  18. Dr Peppers lonely hearts club band - Bheetels
  19. Great flanger, marketed as a flanger for people that don't like flangers. By this, it's fair to say that it doesn't go into the largely unusable jet engine crazy tones and stays more subtle, nailing the flanging shimmers you hear on stuff like Tool's 46&2. It's versatile, and well loved by bass players thanks to it having a blend so there is zero low end loss. In great condition. No box, but will be well packaged. Asking £130 posted in the UK. Collection welcomed in Derby for those who don't trust the postman.
  20. Bri bought my 51 - As always, an absolute pleasure. Enjoy x
  21. The Fender Standrds sit in a odd niche if you look at them as part of the overall guitar market rather than as part of the Squire/Fender range. Put bluntly there are better specced guitars from the likes of Sire, Ibanez and others in that £500 bracket and the Standards themselves are, with the most generous interpretation, at best a step sideways from the Squire CVs, rather than a step up.
  22. Yep. That was one of various reasons why the band didn't last much longer after that. I know a drummer and vocalist who would 🥴
  23. Today
  24. Covers on a Precision look cool, and I never found that they got in the way - I just don't currently have a suitable bass to put them on. I can imagine the Jazz ones could be annoying due to the much larger footprint of the bridge cover though.
  25. Wish I had known about this before embarrassing myself with my backwoods, attacked with an axe effort! The MDF option is very reasonably priced! I've fired them off a message to see if they do custom orders...
  26. It's also a really neat way of stopping intentional damping.
  27. How about zip-lock bags (as used for food to put in the freezer...)..? Keeps everything together and dust-free. Re-usable, too, if ever you put the pieces back on the bass.
