  1. Past hour
  2. The one I had previously, I sold to IanA on here and he fitted a Nordstrand too. I’ll have a look at the string retainer, do you find it benefitted from it?
  3. Still going strong mate. No noise issues whatsoever. Still trying to get a drum kit in there but have resigned myself to the fact an electronic drum kit is the only viable option.
  4. Just in case, here is the link to the user manual: https://www.tascam.eu/en/docs/CD-BT2_Manual.pdf
  5. Selling this bass as I originally picked it up as a backup to my main touring 4 string, a white MM with all the same mods. They’re both great basses but I don’t have as much need for a direct duplicate as I used to and it’s too good to be sat around not being played. I had it re sprayed with this smokey black burst which maintains the look of the natural grain. It’s picked up some nicks and scuffs which I’ve pictured. I love the way it looks and sad to let it go. The neck has a beautiful flame to it and it and the fretboard are unblemished. Fitted with a John East MM preamp, hipshot drop tuner and schaller style strap locks, otherwise all original and in great condition. Will ship in UK for £30 or meet in London area. Open to offers and happy to answer any questions. Thanks! James

  6. Red Frame White Light - Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
  7. £450 is just shy of £1100 in today’s money according to a quick Google search. By today’s standards, bargains indeed. ‘70s basses were looked down on back then, often without checking to see if they were actually decent instruments, just, for the most part, blanket rejection. @mowf had the foresight to look beyond that prejudice, well done!
  8. Agreed. Some of it is prog-rock-esque. I just love his huge smile and sense of fun.
  9. Been on a bit of a pedal detox the last few months. Got rid of most of the synthy stuff and downsized afair bit overall. Amalgamated the newly-downsized big big board and my much smaller, more simple set up, to create one board for all occasions. The Irish tricolour scheme on the bottom. right was just a happy accident
  10. Reminded me to install the 3.8 firmware as I don't have anything important coming up for over a week. Getting a better computer since I did the last update hasn't made the process any quicker and 94-100% appears to take as long as 0-93%. The HX edit link to release notes doesn't work either. Edit: And yet again my Global setting have reverted to the factory defaults. It does say in the release notes that there is a problem with Apple M-series computers regarding this, but it also affected Intel Macs on previous updates. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, because it's very annoying and I don't always remember to change everything to my preferences until I find that something isn't working as I expected it to. And... Every time I load up Logic I get a message saying that the Line6 44.1kHz Core Audio Driver will not be compatible with future versions of Mac OS. I've just checked on the Line6 website and the installed version 1.5 driver is now almost 4 years old. I'm still on Sonoma, but contemplating upgrading to Sequoia just before next version of Mac OS is released. Does anyone know if the 1.5 driver works with Sequoia?
  11. Hayseed Dixie Tribute?
  12. Love that 64, very nice
  13. Cheers Phil.im slow with this adding links and phone technology but ill have a go.Till then a brief description of us is double bass, banjo 2x vox and a suitcase bass drum playing bluegrass, country and songs you might not expect given the instrumentation
  14. No, they already have all the Mordor you need at just the turn of a dial 😄
  15. I haven't enough grey cells to remember an arrangement like that!! Great playing and very melodic, which makes a change from the usual technical slap fest.
  16. Not so sure about parting with it.. But I'm reorganizing my gear and for my current needs, I'm not using this instrument at the moment as I also have other 5 string jazz style instruments. I might consider a trade, or exchange, for a different instrument, maybe something more modern, or 4 or 5 strings.. with active preamp This Olinto is a sensational instrument, maybe the best passive jazz 5 I've ever tried.. a very woody and organic voice.. it doesn't sound like the typical maple fretboard instrument.. it sounds very 60's.. it even has a sound that seems older than my 66 jazz!! As for the characteristics of the instrument: Olinto J5, Production year 2023 body: alder maple neck, birdseye maple fingerboard, custom Mas Hino hand wound pickups 34" scale Carbonetti Sunburst nitro finish hipshot hardware weight around 4kg original hard case available a spare white perloid pickguard Other pics and samples available on request price for a new one, around 5200$ plus shipping, plus taxes I set a trade value of 4800€, open to discuss depending on the offers no issues on the bass.. really near mint conditions
  17. wow what bargains. The natural finish look gorgeous. I wish I was playing bass when bargains like this was to be had. I bet the ash body and maple neck sound great for finger style percussive playing.
  18. Our duo use RCF 310's as our only PA. I've posted here about them a couple of times but it was last weekend's PA. We are pretty loud as a duo up with the levels of a few full bands. This gig was in an old converted cinema so a big barn of a place. We were pretty loud and the sound was really good, vocals especially but drums (programmed) and bass also loud and clear. The difference between the 310 and the 710's is that the 710's use a better mid/bass unit. With the 310's being so capable I don't think you will have an issue with bass and kick with your band. Let us know how you get on though. It might help others if you put up a link or two that I looked at, so they can get a picture of what you are doing with your 710's
  19. Cost of living crisis perhaps? Fashion at at time when many prefer a factory fender to a boutique beauty? That it's in Germany meaning the Brexit idiocy that you should pay 20% VAT on import... which makes it rather expensive at £4680? (My own dolphin, imported from Portugal pre Brexit, was £1800 ... though admittedly only a 4-string). Still, someone in in the EU should snap it up as they are truly beautiful basses that do everything from an amazing clear "piano like" sound to something like a gnarly Thumb. Slap rather well too.
  20. This is how I started my move to the end pin. Firstly, like you, I started tilting it back, then sideways and I really liked the freedom this provided. The end pin seemed an obvious move but, at £150, possibly an expensive mistake. Therefore, I tried folding the tripod legs in as a pseudo end pin. Partial proof of concept (no body support), order placed and after a lot of adjustments to get it just right, I’m super happy. Me too, I should make more of an effort. I always like it when I play it, even if I just play the same old lines. In terms of sound, if I select the arco setting on my WAV and put a big smiley face eq curve on it, it’s not a bad sound at all. Not quite my favourite DB sound (but then not all DBs give that sound), but definitely not fretless bass. I’d love to have the opportunity to play it live, with others to hear it in a mix, but it seems destined to be a just home instrument .
  21. The stamina required to play like this over a set is incredible. Both physical and mental! The Cory Wong gigs weren’t short either.
  22. Today
  23. Selling off a trio of Boss DD series delay pedals after a bit of a change up. Simple and reliable, a little wear and tear, but all in generally good condition. DD-3, DD-6 and DD-7 available. £90 (ONO) each, including postage, or message me if interested in more than one and we’ll sort a deal!
