This is an unbadged Torque cab. The speakers have been upgraded to 50w from 30w. The cab is working, cosmetically not brand new. Would appear that this has been upgraded as it has two 4ohm 50 watt speakers and a tweeter. The back plate of the cab is not fastened, but it’s a very snug fit so not moving. This appears to be wired in parallel, making it a 2ohm cabinet. Very clean inside, candidate for wiring in series to get 8ohm output. selling for £10 collected, just trying to clear space!

This is true . Trying to find a fretless one is a lot harder to track down . 🙂 -
Weird one for me today. First ever loading the car in the dark this morning to head up to Methil in Fife for 11am load in. Doors open 1pm and we start 2pm. The good news we finish around 5pm and hopefully away by 6pm, home via the Indian takeaway for approx 8pm. Easy peasy. Not sure how this will go today. There was a mix up with the bookings when the organiser went off sick and someone else took a booking for another band. We originally were booked 4-7 but they asked if we could move it to 2-5 to allow them to keep the booking for the 2nd band too. As long as we're getting paid same fee we said yes and all was agreed. Will it be busy ? mmmmmmmmm personally i don't think it will but a paid rehearsal for our main weekend next week when we are out Fri and Sat nights. Wish me luck. Heading out now. Rock & Roll lifestyle, couldnae beat it wie a big stick. 😂 Dave 🤶🎅

I've been trying to get the fader working but I've not had much luck yet - I think I need to be more careful about which colours I fade between as it seems to fade the new colour in before the old one goes out resulting in near-white light coming out for a while. I might be better having 2 of my PARs on one colour with the other two black, then fade to a new colour on the two that were previously black, an alternate that way. 🤔

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2025?
SteveXFR replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
After selling all my gear last year, all my gear has been bought this year. The worst is easy, a Fender Mexican standard Precision. I think it was just a bad one, I've had a few before but this one just sucked. I couldn't get a decent setup on it and it always sounded weak so its gone now. Best purchase is either my Spector Euro 4 LX which sounds incredible and is really nice to play and was a great price or my Yamaha BB1100S which I picked up for £450 and is the nicest playing bass I've owned and sounds great. -
When I first got the famous £20 controller, I tried programming all sorts of chases but it not only took a long time but owing to my lack of talent, ended up looking naff. I find it’s. Better to have solid colours changing fairly slowly or a mixture of colours that work well together together, think a half red, half purple. The other issue is, after not using DMX for some time, I had to almost relearn it, As I am also getting to grips with the complexity of modrrn digital mixers, my old brain is sending smoke signals out of my ears snd holding up white flags,

Agreed. Full tax scavenging mode. Just picking the meat from the bones rather than the fat. The real question being why do so many people need a side hustle just to get by?

@Rosie C Thanks for this, I had a feeling it was just my latest dumb question in a long trail of them. Pleased its not only me

I just mean in the sense that the Mutron was the first (as far as I know!)
-
I share your puzzlement. My 'new' Trace Elliot cabs have substantial metal grilles on them and a 4"x3" brand badge obscuring one of the 10" drivers. To the uneducated it seems like they would obstruct the sound.
-
Not every one, there's a few ways to do an envelope filter electronically... the Meatball is a very very hyped Mutron 3 topology. Not that my pedantry matters, as we know from the 6 billion Big Muff varients tuning circuits and a few components being different values can make a massive variation on sound.

The weather here has slightly dropped off, however we have had reports of a bearded bloke collecting pairs of animals, and an awful lot of wood has gone missing. There seems to be some sort of structure being put up on the top of Ingleborough as well, no ones quite sure what's going on, but seems a dumb place to build a boat to me.... Anyway, I might get chance to do a bit more on the cab today after a week in London. I was thinking about a speaker grill and making sure I put some mounting points on, I rather like the metal grills that you can get on eBay. Is there a minium offset from the speaker that a metal grill must be, I look at the metal grill compared to speaker cloth and wonder does it either resonate or attenuate the sound. Clearly people use metal grills and they look great, but wondered if they need to be 10mm (or another minimum distance) from the speaker or the holes need to be a certain size, do you need rubber mounts on them to stop them vibrating? I can still put T-Nuts in if necessary for mounting points, even though the front and rear panels are now glued in, but I'd rather plan for it now than having to take it all apart again. Thoughts welcomed. Thanks Rob

I'm new here (have come back on a new account after about 15 years break!) but what better way to say hello than sharing my rig! (Fender) Sunn1200s, diy 4x10 and 2x15 (2x15 not made by me, but the same chippy who helped with the 4x10). The only rack I had was 6u...could do with filling up the spaces a bit but I am not after a compressor, eq etc...maybe just blank spaces, a drawer and some lights which I'll get round to at some point.. It's effing loud! That said, our guitarist loves volume and so does the drummer, nice to have a rig that keeps up without any stress! Awesome to see so many nice rigs, some very tidy set ups here!

Yes, judging by our outdoor lights (10W lighting the alley by the back door, and 40W doing the entire garden), its 24x3W has the potential to be quite bright. I managed to find a user manual for it. The fancy chases that were advertised aren't really practical for me - they need 50+ DMX channels and that would be a nightmare to programme manually. I'm thinking just the 5 channel RGB mode and have the whole bar one colour and maybe fix it vertically to one of the speaker stands. Edit: when I DJ'd I had a USB-DMX gadget and ran the lights from a rack-mount PC with a custom computer programme - and it managed some quite complex lighting. But I ain't going to attempt to programme a 50 channel unit with my £20 eBay controller!
