I checked, and you are correct - the spare driver I have has a cast chassis. I'm now on the hunt for some possible presses candidates, and will have to see if @Bill Fitzmaurice will do a few calculations for me. Thanks all - the BC hive mind at its' finest! JRK

Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
Phil Starr replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
You can't, not really. Any mic including any drum mic is going to pick up everything that happens on stage to a greater or lesser degree as well as picking up audience noise. If you have meters on your mixer you can see the background noise. That's the thing; you have two concerns about bleed, the smearing of your sound due to unwanted noises coming in through the mics and of course genuine feedback. Pretty much any mic on stage will be a directional mic and they all favour sounds coming straight at them. Cardioid mics have a 'dead spot' down the other end of the barrel and with super cadioids the dead spot is on the side. Anything pointing at the mics is going to reduce your gain before feedback and increase the cr*p coming through the PA. At low sound levels you can get away with monitors behind you in that you avoid feedback but you will still degrade the sound for the audience. It's a judgement call as to how much bleed you deem acceptable. It's possible it will be unnoticeable compared with room reverberation and audience noise. The one thing I always say though is that whatever works in practice is good. The science helps make good choices and gives you a lot of help when things aren't working but the human interaction between you and the audience is the important thng. The tech just gets you there. I sing a little, I've a strong voice but can be pitchy if I can't hear the monitors. My best happens when I can hear what the audience hears and the sound levels on stage are really well down. I love in-ears generally but somehow at low levels (ie no drummer) and floor monitors I find singing a lot easier. I can understand those who like to be in front of the PA even if technically it poses problems. -

I recently purchased a 1995 Japanese Fender Jazz - a ‘62 reissue with dark cherry foto flame finish. It’s one of the smoothest necks I’ve played and it sounds wonderful with a set of Thomastiks! However, the foto flame finish is very cracked and starting to peel away in some areas. I’m considering having it taken back to the wood and resprayed in a period accurate colour. I’m on the fence between Fiesta Red, Shell Pink or Black - all with a tortoiseshell scratch plate. Also considering a nitro, rather than poly, finish. Good idea? Any opinions on colour? There’s always the option to keep the foto flame…

Our EVRI driver is amazing. We usually cross paths with her when we’re out walking the dog in the morning. She will always wave us down and let us know whether she has anything for us and if she has, roughly what time she will make it to our house. A truly lovely human being.

Can anyone tell me about the relative merits of these respective models? What practical advantages does the Pro version offer? Is it worth spending £25 more than the basic version? I want to buy a headphone amp for home noodling, playing along to YouTube ect and the Nux seems to be the only Bluetooth option. I'm not planning to use it for anything more ambitious than that. I'm not very tech-orientated, to put it mildly, so simplicity and less options might be a good thing in certain respects Any experience, advice or suggestions much appreciated.

Bought a 5 with single pu and refinished it. The paint was falling off, and not in a nice way. So I stripped it . The pickguard was cracked in three pieces so I made a new one Very nice to play and lovely feel, neck, knobs and all IMG_20250214_112627.heif

Even if you have a good local driver this may be fleeting, they have a pretty high turnover of staff due to working conditions and pay. Your next one (or substitute driver when the regular guy takes time off) might be like the driver who nicked my Sonicake pedal and threw my Shimano front chainring and Tonerider pickup over the fence of a completely different house so they sat outside in the rain for a couple of days. The company is trash and noting that some of their staff try to paper over these very deliberate cracks does not benefit anyone not working in Evri's upper management.

I am so excited to get this one down at last. This is the complete John Patitucci performance of the Leonard Bernstein tune 'America' as performed by Dave Grusin for the 1997 'West Side Story' album. A stunning recording that I hope to get to transcribe in its entirety (this is the longest piece so the rest should be easy enough). Coming in ay 8:20, there is a lot to take in but, stick with it. The bulk of the piece is in 7:8 but, once you get inside the groove, the reading gets easier. The logic seems to present itself as you internalise the rhythm. Great stuff. The fact that the harmony is relatively stable helps massively too. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/america-dave-grusin/

Harley Benton Block-800B vs bugera Veyron 1001M
Chienmortbb replied to KinkMaster's topic in Amps and Cabs
It uses the same 700AS1 ICEPower module as the Ashdown and Mesa models that either claim 800 watts or have 800 in the model number, so RM800 all Evos. Mesa Subway D800 series plus Ashdown Retroglide 800. There will be others that I do not know about. -

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Si600 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
How was my rehearsal last night? Awful. I could have transplanted my fingers with Tesco Value sausages and it would have been an improvement, and as for my sense of timing, that deserted me as I was tuning up. Everyone else seemed OK with it though, we made good progress apparently. -
