  2. Between the likes of squier and Harley benton etc which budget bass is your go to recommendation for a new player, keeping price as low as possible I know it's partly luck of the draw / bit of setup is needed here and there, avoiding the 2nd hand market, just looking at something I can order direct. Squier sonic Vs Harley benton pb 20
  3. I have a black alembic europa 5 stringer, bought online & unseen from Germany. Firstly i couldn't get used to the narrow string spacing, i didn't really take to the black colour, and it was always way too bright, even with the filters closed. I put it up for sale a short time after buying and got a lot of interest but no buyer. So kept it, worked on the eq on both the bass and rig and now it's my first call bass. In recent years i had some plug and play electronics upgrades from alembic so that it operates like my series bass. What was I thinking.? Confession is good for the soul...... alledgedly🧐🎶
  4. So you made it the 90's way and started a huge fight in the restaurant ?
  5. That's just it, isn't it - what works for one falls completely flat for another. Genuinely glad yours worked out for you 🙂 I tried again with a Fender Kingman when they first came out, and that was a nice bass. But I had to put one of those rubber feedback bungs in the sound-hole to use it live, which made it sound broadly the same as a P-bass and meant its only advantage was aesthetic.
  6. The covers band, Top Deck, played The General Havelock pub in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. A good gig; ‘ilson’ people can be a bit wary of outsiders, but if they take to you they love you. We never had to buy our own drinks all night. We played in an outdoor, roofed, area. Showtime was 7.30 until 9.30 as it’s in a residential area. The pub seems to be managing its relationship with the locals well. Home by 10.30 to some cans in the fridge.
  7. You need to bear in mind that the control plate on a Lakland DJ5 is a different shape to a normal jazz bass control plate, and so a normal preamp won’t fit straight onto it - that’s the reason for East selling a specific preamp just for the DJ bass. Assuming you can’t hold of an East one then you’ll have to use the existing control plate to mount it on
  8. I need this bass sold as I’m raising cash for something else, so I’m offering a massive discount on this bass for 48 hours exclusively here on BC. After that I’ll start advertising it elsewhere. So for the next couple of days the knock down price is £350.

  10. Many years ago (90s?) I went for a meal with a bunch of freinds. There were about 8 of us and we are all musicians. A couple of professionals, all of us gigging, and a few grade 8 players. A band turned up at the restaurant and we thought great, some background music. They proceeded to turn up to 11 and it was impossible to talk. We complained to the manager several times, it wasn't even advertised as a gig! To the point where the singer stopped the band and said "If we knew anything about music, we would know that it had to be loud." If that happened nowadays, we would probably have just left the restaurant without finishing our meal or paying.
  11. no, there will be no discussion. There will be no indoor gigs (with me anyway) no one cares I'll do the outdoor gig on bank holiday monday and then I'm done
  12. Having a custom purple flake P being built by the, rather wonderful, Rob Fleet - should be ready in the next week or so 😈
  13. Today
  14. Pretty much 1kg less than the new bass!
  15. We played Capones last night. 7-11. A little long and late for me. BL called out songs we haven't performed in years. I'd say it was an okay gig. I'm ok if we never go back. Daryl
  16. My old rig! It still looks as immaculate as when I had it. I took that on three pro-tours around the UK and it picked up so many compliments from soundmen and other bands. GLWTS.
  17. Keep it under £130 and you wont get tagged
  18. And taking it to the bridge 😜

  21. I was looking at these the other day to use as monitors while recording. As there are 4 members in the band I'm wondering, can you use 4 receivers with a single transmitter, or would I have to use a splitter on the output of the PA to put both transmitters into a single audio source?
  22. Any idea how much it weighs?
