  2. Sad news. Couple of my favourites not seen pop up in the threads yet: David Sanborn, 'Tin Tin' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Awy5SxjBQr0&list=RDAwy5SxjBQr0&start_radio=1 Steve Kahn, 'Modern Times' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXfdOJg3d-0&list=RDPXfdOJg3d-0&start_radio=1 Al Di Meola, 'Song to the Pharoah Kings' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiOeA3FpGvA&list=RDBiOeA3FpGvA&start_radio=1 Monster player
  3. First time for me to try out a set of tape wounds. I ordered a set of La Bella Black nylons for my acoustic short scale Guild bass. Little did I know about these strings, especially how NOT to cut them shorter on the black nylon coating, so slowly the nylon drifted apart as a pair of very old socks on my skinny legs. Thats old bunch of money out of the window - someone show post a “how to put tape wound strings for dummies” on YouTube. Not I just feel stupid
  4. It was so obvious that I think we all forgot that one... Thanks for the reminder. 👍🏻👌🏻
  5. Who can forget that time when they helped a log that was in trouble?
  6. Just curious…what bugs you about 24 fret basses?
  7. My question might sound weird, but is the main portion of the cake going to Adam Clayton? Or is it a full charity sale?
  8. I've seen no mention of perhaps the most obvious choice, albeit not under SC's name: Light As A Feather, by the original Return To Forever lineup.
  9. Sound & Vision - David Bowie
  10. As it happens I had the details with the Faital saved from a previous project. With 130W which is the typical mini-amp output into 8 ohms it looks like this. Ideally the Faital would be better in a bigger cab (better in terms of more bass and a flatter response) There's a 2db peak at 120Hz which is typical of many commercial cabs, but that's not awful; it will sound quite warm and bass heavy without eq . My original driver did much the same and so did the Beyma 12CMV2 It's really quite a good match. The biggest problem is that you need quite a big port for a small box to avoid turbulence in the port but if you limit it to 150W that shouldn't be a big issue
  11. I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
  12. Absolute bargain. I loved mine. GLWTS
  13. D'Addario chromes, flatwound ECB81-5 string set. Cut for 34" four over one. Been on 20 mins. Another expensive exercise. After paying £72 for LaBellas, I thought these are worth a go for £59 Not for me. Put them on, plugged it in, played the intro to Midnight at the Oasis, took them off. 2mm of silk removed from the B and E due to saddle position but sealed with a dab of super glue to stop any unwinding. £35 inc postage to mainland UK
  14. For sale a MXR M135 Smart Gate Noise Gate Pedal in good condition with original box and box candy - only not using as i've just bough a Stone Deaf Noise Reaper for my gate keeping needs. £80 delivered to your door in the UK. Equipped with three selectable types of noise reduction—Hiss, Mid, and Full—the Smart Gate Noise Gate bites down on sizzle and hum while still allowing your playing nuances through. This pedal can be powered by a 9-volt battery, a Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ power supplies (not included).
  15. Hi - this still around?
  16. Thanks for the history update, Steve. If I hadn't bought a Dingwall, (and now need a second, shorter scale) I would keep it as my back-up bass, but time and the missus dictates... cheers, Shaun
  17. The neck specs are: 34” scale neck 38mm (1 5/8”) nut weight is 3.9kg (8.6lbs) cheers

  19. The blend knob is an essential. Having 50% P and 50% MM is surprisingly different to either on their own and gives a very nice rounded sound.
  20. The Story of the Hare Who Lost His Spectacles - Jethro Tull
  21. That's what you get for not paying your bills?
  22. Fender won't be using shopify, but it is likely that G&L being much smaller were using it for their webstore, and if so it may have been reverted to default settings.
  23. Now I have decided to go for the Faital Pro 12PR320, has that already been modelled? I am fully bought into Apple these days and WinISD only runs on Windows. There is an app for iPadOS called Speaker Box but the pro version that gives you a cabinet design, cutting plan and parts list is £7 a month!! That’s a lot of money to spend on an unknown quantity. Has anybody tried it and is it worth the cash? Sub-question is it friendly to those with very little knowledge of acoustics and speaker design?
