It depends on what you mean by handle low B string. It is the 30hz to 80hz content that is the concern. Most modern 12" bass cabs will handle it pretty well with a high pass filter to snuff out the 30hz content and let through some 60hz. The higher performing ones folks are recommending you can make that 60hz quite loud. None of them will produce audible 30hz so a HPF is still a very handy thing. A lot of players even take out a bit of the 60 to 80hz. Their cab is too good at making it and the tone gets to be wallowing in lows.

blisters on my fingers started following OK... so age is now taking effect...

You might have a different perspective on this if you have had your designs appropriated from confidential documentation that was passed on to a competitor against your will. I have, it took money out of my pocket and the companies that produced those products. This may explain our different perspectives. Most modern designs are pretty difficult to reverse engineer without spending considerable effort and cost of doing so. Documentation reduces this cost to do so. Many companies do not release documentation for this reason alone.

Hipshot 5 string bridge, with Graphtech 'Ghost' piezo saddles - Used but in excellent cosmetic condition. Please note: One of the piezo wires has been re-soldered and taped (see pic 2), after being snipped by accident when removing a zip tie.. no issues, it works perfectly. Includes the summing board and the standard wire to connect it to a Graphtech preamp, as well as another wire with the connector removed at one end, for use with a different pre/buffer.. such as the Richter MX2 I'm also selling (click here).. happy to do a deal on the pair 😉 No original box but will be well packed for delivery. £150 including UK delivery (tracked and insured). Please PM for other locations. Payment via bank transfer (preferred) or PayPal.

Richter MX2 - Active Balance Control. Used but in full working condition. 10mm shaft - For full specification click here. Can be used to balance 2 magnetic pickups, or mix a piezo signal with a magnetic pickup. Comes with the battery connector, which as you'll see from the picture was been cut short (previously connected to a battery box), so the wires will need extending/connecting to a battery clip. I'll throw in a battery clip for free if you need one, just ask. £60 including UK delivery - please contact me for other locations. Payment via bank transfer (preferred) or PayPal. I also have a Hipshot piezo 5 string bridge for sale (click here).. happy to do a deal on the pair 😉

Nothing so grand as a festival for The Rebbels, our first outing as a four piece at Christchurch Con Club, Saturday. We have had no rehearsals for 8 weeks, and so I am a tad nervous, but that is what makes it fun! The lead guitarist and I are having a get-together tomorrow to work on beginnings and endings and other fun stuff, so I may feel better or worse by tea time.

MacDaddy started following BC Rich Ironbird and Do you use your “best” bass on gigs?

In reply to the OP, yup! 😁 I'm in the 'I buy 'em to play 'em' camp.

Bugger. I remember contacting him for advice on a potential BCR purchase years ago. He was the go to guy for BCR info, and couldn't have been more helpful. RIP Lorne 😟

Phew! Just made it in time. The playing and mix are a bit rough but it's kind of pop punk so I'm not too bothered. This is 'Aliens in the sky' by Jinky Fuzz. The bass is one of my daphne blue Fender JMJ mustang basses and there are two guitars - my Pelham blue Harley Benton DC-Junior FAT which has tone knob pulled out to put the single stacked P90 in humbucker mode, and my black Fender Telecaster custom switched to the wide-range humbucker pickup in the neck position. Both guitars were recorded from the usb output of my Fender GTX100 amp using a patch emulating a mesa/boogie II+ with a Boss DS-1. The organ is my Yamaha Reface YC. All the processing etc used logic's stock plugins.

Hmm. Needs vocals.

Just been trying to have a little fun promoting our gig this Friday, loads of bands on plus festivals this weekend so we're not expecting a big crowd...but one can try as hard as one can 😁 The pub's called the Avon and it's right next to the river Avon so why not?

20-year old cheap bow - rehair or replace?
Beer of the Bass replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Yeah, I did some looking around, I gather that the wedges are routinely replaced during a rehair and the tip facing is often installed using CA glue anyway, so it doesn’t look like I've butchered it in a way that would affect rehairing particularly. Bowspeed have some likely looking options if I was able to step up to £300 or so, and will send them out on approval. So what I may do is have the current bow rehaired for now and see about clearing out some bits and pieces for a bow fund. Then if I was to try couple on approval later in the year, I'd at least have the one I'm already familiar with in decent playing condition for comparison. -

Budget transparrent class D amp heads ~300W?
DocTrucker replied to DocTrucker's topic in Amps and Cabs
Did my research degree in Liverpool so I know the place, or more accurately the replica. The original is gone, but the current is (/was, been many years since I was there) a decent music venue. I was more on the heavier rock and metal side back then ~2003-2006 and spent more time in the Crazy House (when it had three floors), the Swan, and many other decent rock leaning pubs. -
Thank you very much 🙂
