  2. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  3. I agree. However this pic shows how hard it is to give that 110%. Lol Daryl
  4. We're not a wedding band by any stretch of the imagination. But we've been wangled into doing a few. All of them were bad. It's usually when the bride or the groom just happens to like our band. I don't think it occurs to them to hire a band their guests would like. Daryl

  6. The Commando green case calls for grey or black knobs if you ask me.
  7. The upshot was that e bay sorted it out pronto and both myself and the buyer got our dosh...
  8. Lots of great info already given. All I would add is that its worth considering a Blue Acoustic system. Hand made here in the UK using top quality components. Designed to out perform similarly priced big brand gear and you can speak to them directly to discuss which of their setups would suit you best.
  9. All I Need To Hear - The 1975
  10. It's been a good few years since this thread got posted to. So here's my headless fretless Original 5: The headless Flamboyant 5: The Flamboyant 6: And the Sei Jazz 5, aka the Basschat Bike:
  11. My new to me Uberhorn is awaiting surgery but here's a placeholder:
  12. That's from a while ago - that settee's long gone. The basses are all still here though. The observant may notice the fingerboard end on the fretless isn't standard, I got Jon Shuker to replace the original board which had been nicely defretted but of course had lines on for an unlined ebony board and he shaped it that way.

  14. Seven Trumpets - Aphrodite's Child
  15. I have quite a few. However, when I don't know how big the venue is or I know it's small, I'll take a fretted headless, if I've got room then I may take a headed bass instead and that will be a choice from a selection of three or four. For open mic nights I'll take any one of a dozen, generally 5-strings but occasionally a 4 or a 6.
  16. In fairness, there's been bugger-all genuine news for days (I'm keeping an eye on the Talkbass and TheGearPage threads). And there's never a thread in which people can't say what they could have bought a Wal for in 1983. That's the law, although if they're less than 50, some doubt might be thrown on their claim.
  17. Yeah, but can it work over USB with the ability to turn on/off the FX?
  18. I still have two. One active four and an active/passive 5 with separate tone controls for each mode, so you can get two sets of tones out by flicking active/passive it is enough
  19. The full size one has midi program change and parameter changing and a full size midi socket.
  20. Or, for those of us who don't move in the exalted circles of promoters, showing the landperson that you should get another chance.
  21. Sound Your Funky Horn - KC & The Sunshine Band
  22. Latterly No, 19 was Argent's / Music Room before they moved across the street
  23. Absolutely not, but what are you wanting to achieve; a lighter weight?
  24. This. My version is, every gig is the Albert hall. Several times I've been asked to join bands because the band leader liked what he saw, and one of them was the proverbial man and a dog gig. Every time you have a bass on your shoulder you should be giving 110%.
  25. Would it be a sin to remove the gp11 preamp from my 1110 combo and marry it to a 500W class d power amp?
  26. And the 70's. I used to go up to Denmark Street on a Wednesday afternoon, to buy the early edition and get to the good adverts before the rest of the country.
  27. It's guitar not bass, but Peter Green's opening note on The Super Natural, of John Mayall's greatest album, A Hard Road. I think Gary Moore and Joe Bonamassa dedicated their lives trying to repeat it. Lovely bassline by John Mcvie too - blues but not a predictable 12-bar. One of my favourite songs.
