  1. Past hour
  2. Is that a graphite neck on the Jazz ? If so what do you think of it. Dave
  3. How else would a covers band play Sweet Child Of Mine, Jean Genie, Video Killed The Radio Stars!!?? Seriously I've been through rehearsals without touching the G string and even the odd gig but there's an awful lot of times you need an octave in an arpeggio.
  4. OK for using an LLM to give you the advert text, but surely you'd proofread it first wouldn't you?
  5. These look so cool in black! GLWTS
  6. Is this still for sale
  7. Question for the Basschat hive mind. No reason other than I’m puzzled. But I’ve seen a few videos of pro players with neck off basses. My question is, if you take the string tension off the top, what stops the sound post from falling during transport?
  8. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  9. I'm with the majority, why would you have two sockets if they aren't left and right. That lead may just be something left by a previous band, who knows. You all use in-ears so it won't affect your performance but it might be worth looking to see if anyone you know has played there and what their experience was. Or ask the venue. It could be a good system if the people who installed it have eq'd for the venue. Good Luck
  10. Well, the roof is fixed and I’m happy to report that all of my gear seems to have survived. The only thing I lost is the soldering station, which is kind of incredible… I’m really impressed with the Shuttle. (It was positively drenched.) All of the screws and rings on the outside have rusted, yet the inside is completely clean and it hasn’t missed a beat.
  11. Watched the interview the other day and really enjoyed it, thanks for posting it John 😎
  12. Today
  13. I can't watch anything with Scott Devine. The jazz noodling just gets irritating after a while and when someone else is playing its like he's got jazz bass tourettes with random outbursts of "pocket", "tasty" or "ooh yeah". His American clone is much better though.
  14. i would like a go on the Berlin Moby Dick i would like to know why this is
  15. Bad idea to make assumptions but... as there are a pair of XLR sockets in situ I'd be looking to unplug that one and plug my own L/R XLR>XLR outs from the desk. However as assumptions ca make and a55 of you I'd be prepared to take that lead from an Aux out.
  16. Ok, so just rigged mine up - unfortunately I'm getting the same issue as you describe! The middle switch position is noisy and the top position is worse. I'm using an isolated Strymon PSU. Out of curiosity I A/B'd it with a Boss CEB-3, Tech21 Bass Boost Chorus and an EHX Bass Clone. The Boss and the Tech21 were all but silent. The EHX was noisy (top end hiss) as soon as I engaged the effect. The Providence was nice a quiet in the bottom switch position and progressively noisier (hiss as the LFO sweeps) as you went up between the three positions. I can only assume the Tech 21 and Boss have some filtering going on before the output? I also added a TU-3 in before the Anadime to see if it needed buffering to stop the hiss - it made no difference. I must have noticed this before and just settled on using the bottom switch setting? It's a shame as out of the four pedals the Providence has by far the best sounding chorus to my ears.
  17. I've been playing in reggae bands for most of my music life, both on bass and guitar. For 2026,. I don't mind doing deps in that genre but not joining another band in that genre or ska for that matter. I looking to see if i can move into a band that is more jazz based or a band where there is more adventures to seek on the bass. I also want to be able to grasp theory in a practical way that I can consciously and intentionally apply on the fly (improvising), or to develop a solid bassline for a song or piece of music. Re-start double bass lessons and ideally play similar percentage of my gigs on bass guitar and DB (eub).
  18. Weightshaming, seriously?! Come on man, it's 2025!! 😊
  19. Two guys who’ve done nothing in music not talking about much music while holding basses. And Danny Sapko has a truly terrible feel. Scott can play, obvs, but it’s typically the same show-offy modal licks you get taught in the latter part of a jazz course.
  20. Good set up is the key to unlocking most basses.
  21. Hi, Can you tell if my Newport is in phase or out of phase from the photo?
  22. IS a 18 mm
  23. Welcome. We've all been waiting for you.
  24. Be True To Your School - Beach Boys
  25. Nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion. If we all thought the same, this place would be far less interesting. However, differences can be expressed gently and respectfully...
