  2. I thought I should elaborate. At 300 watt, with two Fane 225s, in theory you will be close to 120dB plus the low end 6dB boost @phil described earlier. It will also be louder than one theoretical 4 ohm drive running at 225 watts. The reason is that running a 225 watt speaker at full power will incur power compression. This causes a +3dB loss* in power due to the rise in resistance of the voicecoil. So 225 watts into a 225 watt speaker will give roughly the same acoustic output as the same speaker powered at 112 watts**. *Based on data previously published by Beyma. Beyma used to be the only company to include power compression graphs, but clearly it was seen as a commercial disadvantage and they no longer do it. **There will be some power compression even at 1/2 rated power, probably 1-1.5dB.
  3. I'm afraid not. The Ubertar was provided by the customer. I don't think I would have chosen the Ubertar myself. The sliding pole-piece pickup the 13 Ghost (Thorsten Behrens) made seems much nicer to me. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2024/12/30/bass-of-the-week-meet-the-anachronist-13-ghosts-handmade-marvel-from-germany/
  4. Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) - Harry Belafonte
  5. An update, and a correction. I called Leicester Crown Court (0116 222 5700) and quoted the usual reference (33JJ0821825) and answered the usual questions, and was given the date of the trial. "It's the week commencing 8th February 2027" - not 2026. I am not sure where 2026 came from - apologies.
  6. I think it ended in the best way. Pick up and carry on, no more time wasted on histrionics. My motto band wise has always been ‘if it ain’t fun, why do it?’.
  7. I don't think anyone has ever used Satan's claw for doom metal so there's your solution. No one is going to tune down half an octave and then put on a capo
  8. My experience too. . . . wish I'd thought of that saying!!
  9. Sorry it's taken so long to come back. I'm having to juggle major birthdays, holidays, exams and work to find a day that;s best for everybody. I'm targetting Saturday April 25th all day. That seems to meet everyone’s requirements. I've provisionally booked it for that day and am awaiting confirmation. Thanks Rob
  10. Bass brethren, I have ventured, probably very foolishly into midi madness. My question is, has anyone here made their own [or have any knowledge of] Midi [5pin] to TRS jack to link a DMC micro to a Meris Enzo? Any known pinout weirdness/issues or is it "standard" issue?
  11. Fantastic work as usual, Rob! I also don't understand this kind of electronics in an instrument, but the customer is king... Once again, congratulations for this masterpiece! Do you have a link to the Ubertar pickup(s) used as all I could find is this: https://www.ubertar.com/hexaphonic/
  12. Bloody Capos or "Satan's Claw" I have a hard enough time working out what the guitar player is doing without them cheating. My heart sinks when they whip out a "well what fickin key are we in now" clamp.
  13. I had to double-check if this was an older thread and if I had already replied to it, and lo and behold: I did, in july 2024. Maybe somewhat to my surprise (as it can change quite often for me) the above is still accurate I did grow more and more curious about fanned-fret basses, and would love a combination of fanned frets and headless at some point (an Ibanez EHB1005L is on my "to try-list"), but deep down I'm sure I'd prefer something more traditional.
  14. What time would you kike volunteer setter-uppers to be there, Richard?
  15. Surprisingly cheap Status
  16. Yeah I can't fathom what use all the options could have. I much prefer a simple bass myself. And I would love to build something like this again: Four strings and no controls!
  17. I read this before I saw what you were replying to, I was very confused.
  18. Thanks Shug - it's a great bag that I gigged all over the country for several years. I did manage to get hold of a s/h single version (for a lot more than £50), which I still use and will definitely be keeping!
  19. Beautiful, mad, bonkers, crazy etc. The bass looks tremendous, personally, a simpler pickup and preamp arrangement would suit me. Fascinated to know how the customer intends to use this unique bass.
  20. I can include postage in the price 👍

    New amp

Looking at buying a new amp around the £1000 mark....light weight 800watts minimum, what would you guys recommend?
  23. Any changes we make are usually as a result of a lack of talent for a band member, or where the intro goes on a bit and just leaves us standing around, but sometimes just for fun: Two Tribes - an extra bar inserted after the second verse (as the song goes chorus-verse-chorus-verse), increasing the quiet bit from three to four bars, because everyone (apart from me) loses count of where we are. I sometimes worry about the ability of some of my bandmates to count, especially our drummist, because we hardly ever seem to end this song in the right place as well Somewhere In My Heart - horn intro binned Club Foot and Are Friends Electric - long, atmospheric intros shortened Dakota - outro extended to make it end a bit more enthusiastically
