  1. Past hour
  2. My next purchase, if it happens, is going to be sent to my workplace. It will be going home under the "Eddie has lent me it, doesn't like it, said he'll let me know when he wants it back." line. I'll get the "I know the game you're playing look and eye roll combination" I'll say "What's that all about?" She'll roll the eyes again and say something along the lines of "I'm sure you think I was born yesterday!" We'll have a laugh and that'll be the end of it.......... Until she reminds me that I'm nowhere near out of the woods.
  3. Oh aye, she's observant too - some may know that I recently took in a second Thunderbird (different model though) and she was like "don't you have one like that already?" I started to explain the differences, her eyes glazed over and that was the end of that conversation
  4. Is this the Dean Paramount? How is it a bitsa?
  5. Nah the place is just a place. The people in the place are what makes the place ace.
  6. I am working on a long complicated Branford Marsalis tune and needed some respite so I have put together this transcription of the Adalberto Cevasco bass part for the tune 'Milonga Del Angel' from the 2010 Astor Piazzolla release 'Piazzolla En Suite'. An easy read but a lovely piece. You can't have enough Piazzolla. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/milonga-del-angel-astor-piazzolla/
  7. I’ve said it before - but this place is just Ace. 😘
  8. Yes I gig all three of my basses. But I don’t take every bass to every gig. I try not to play $h1tholes where my kit will be stolen, but it’s more about evening out the wear and tear. I suspect a drunken Saturday night pub crowd will not appreciate the tonal qualities of a vintage Fender over a cheap and cheerful Yamaha, so why bother taking it?
  9. My wife is exactly the same. I've never been one for going clothes shopping or buying myself stuff so if I see something I like my wife is always supportive. The only prerequisite is that she needs to like it as well - no ugly basses or jobby brown finishes 😁
  10. But what is music? It's perfectly summarised in the title of this really great 30 years old tune.
  11. As per the advice above used the splitter to get EQ able IEM feed into my IEM mix, and a different EQ for FOH ( and back line). First outing for the CQ18T and all went well. Binned all the quick channels during set up/ sound check and went to the Full channel setup as lots of horrible boom and hints of related feedback. Sorted the sound within a few minutes per channel, and with a bit of help from the Feedback algorithm everything worked really well. Best 3 x vocal Mix I've tried so far and the majority of bass through FOH. After One outing I won't be going back to my analogue mixer,..just need to be wary of Rabbit Holes!!!! The Bass sound was naff, but the system works a treat, just need time to focus on me rather than everything else!! So thanks for the help👍👍

The gig bag has gone AWOL I am afraid.
  14. I haven’t used my 63 Precision regularly for a while, although it does get an airing every now and then on gigs where I know I won’t have to worry about it. When I was doing gigs in the theatre band, I was worried that once we’d soundchecked and then gone out for a couple of hours in search of food / drink, there was a window of opportunity for someone to steal it. This was further reinforced by our laptop getting nicked from the mixing booth in one venue, and nobody saw anything! Ironically the bass I chose to use on those gigs has now become very special to me too- it’s a P-Lyte and I use it for most of my electric gig / deps etc. I did around 800 gigs with it in the previous band, so would be a tough one to lose. Just started a rock and roll gig in a local club so will be getting the old Precision out for that I think. Big stage, nice audience and I’m around all the gig so happy days.
  15. If the plug in question houses a transformer and isn't easily replaceable, ok, but at £6.99 that is way more expensive than a plug. Just replace the plug with a new plug, which will cost under £2.
  16. Back in 1986 or 7, two of my colleagues who had recently become a romantic item went to that year's Glasto. On the following Tuesday, I asked them which bands they'd seen... turned out that the answer was 'none'. They'd spent the entire weekend in their tent, smoking dope and shagging. So yes, they never got within earshot of the Pyramid either.

  18. Fortunately not me either. When I’ve bought basses or amps then Mrs CP knows I either need them to earn a living or ( just occasionally…) because I just like ‘em! Of course it helps that I don’t splurge dosh on daft cars / watches / cameras and all the other stuff old geezers like me seem to love. In turn, she’s pretty good at not blowing our hard earned on anything silly, with just the odd bit of vintage stuff for herself / the house or some green things from the local garden centre. Works for us.
  19. One day at a time, mate. This. And I know the struggle, being 33 years sober. Some days will be easier than others, but just focus on the reason why you stopped and not the very many reasons why you should stop stopping and hopefully you'll get through. Mark
  20. For me, I get any tone control how it would sound without any preamp into a perfect amp with a short cable. I just want the buffer of the preamp

  22. I'm looking for 2x10 solutions at the mo...
  23. Great wee amps - fantastic for practice, backup or main rig. My one is my backup at gigs, sometimes I take it to rehearsals when I'm feeling lazy because there's a bass cab in the rehearsal room, and I use it at home for practice - for which it is perfect - aux in, headphones, built in tuner, toneprint if you want an effect (Spectracomp is my go-to for some great compression). And YAY a mute switch (tuner still operates when the amp is muted by the way).
  24. I dont know what to say, other than thank you all, in very lucky to have so many people who care. Im making positive steps, ive started therapy to manage my depression. Im trying to give up alcohol (only two and a half weeks, but every day counts) eating better and no caffeine. Some playing oppertunities have came my way which will hopefully open doors, if asked 2 months ago id have made a BS excuse and said no, im not doing that anymore. Importantly my wife and i have finally opened up to each otherand while too late to save the marriage, l feel we can (in time) become friends and love each other in a different way. I feel like a light has been switched on and i can finally see clearly how this has come to pass. Heartbreaking but regrettably a common story. Some of you have offered very kind and shared your stories with me, and every one has helped me as i grieve. Once again, i am humbled by the generosity youve all shown, and you've taken a big chunk of stress off my shoulders.
  25. Up for sale is my great little Epifani UL 110. 250w 8Ohms. 11.6 Kg Bought for home use but has been to a couple of gigs as an extension cab to my old TKs 112 I had at the time. Easily powerful enough on it's own for acoustic stuff etc. Good overall condition. One of the bottom corner protectors is a bit damaged but it dose its job and the carpet is going a bit bobbly in places. Collection from St Helens. Not sure on postage yet as I'm pretty low on packaging and suitable boxes. Could possibly meet up if not too far.
