This is just an initial take, in headphones, and it might be slightly unfair on the Classic Pro as I have not had a chance to change the strings yet (not doing that until I get chrome tuners). To my ears, the Classic Pro is darker sounding, much more prominent in the low mids, whereas the Vintage Pro has a somewhat fuller range of sound, a bit more top end and a more balanced (but still very aggressive) attack. The difference might close up a little when I fit fresh strings to the Classic Pro, so may revisit this question again. But it is broadly as I expected. The Gibson TB+ pickup, love it or hate it is a growly, mean sound, with that emphasis on the low mids, but retaining a full bottom end and a (possibly only perceived) lack of top end as a result. The Epiphone Probucker 760 is more balanced - it's hardly "hi-fi", but it's an honest-to-goodness passive humbucker which is a tad easier to work with as an all-rounder. It's all EQ-able of course - you can make the two sound like each other more or less by tweaking some EQ. I don't like one better than the other, I know both work great in a live setting (because I played them both last night) and that's all that chiefly concerns me - I don't tend to evaluate basses predicated upon how they sound on their own much, hence my lack of vocabulary for describing such things. But you asked, and that's the best I can tell you right now.

Temporary bodges that just last the course

So take the pencil out then. Yes, it is possible (but rather unlikely) for disaster to strike if you take the tranny out but leave the pencil in. Maybe, as an electrician I am used to seeing way worse but I would assume Mark isn't leaving the pencil stuck in the socket while using the pedal board. -
Who you jivin'?

Thanks for posting, I’ll watch this later on tonight when the ‘others’ are asleep!

The point is; the gates to the neutral and live will now remain open when you remove the transformer, until you remove the pencil. The original 'earth' pin would have been plastic and only there to open the gates. You could then drop all sorts of metallic objects into the socket by accident. Or if your fingers are small enough they could be pushed in. Only needs for the transformer to be doslodged while you change a string, when one end of the string just happens to flick into the live, and you have the ideal recipie for a scene from Final Destination, or The Omen. 😆

I'm guessing the Gibson is neck thru Daryl ? I do fancy a white one. Saw the Gene Simmons one for sale in local shop few mths back and was sorely tempted but black basses don't work in a Glam band. Dave

I love when the volume is just right where the amp and speakers just gel into the perfect tone without being deafening. Annoys me when people come up to me for some weird reason its always me while i'm on a 3ft high stage wearing platform boots and in the middle of a song and expect me to hear them and to stop playing and focus on them while they ask for a song that isn't Glam Rock even tho they've paid for a ticket for an advertised Glam party night. Some odd people out there. Dave

Thank you for the share - that’s more than I’ve done so far 😂 Do we need to start paying a promotional fee?

Party time with Nile Rodgers & Chic. Bass a bit low in the mix. I'll be seeing them on Thursday evening at Powerham Castle when they support Duran Duran. 2 mega bass players to enjoy there!

Is it just me, or is there a concerted effort this year for every snare drum to sound like someone dropping a wet cardboard box?

Two weekends in a row…air conditioning on stage. The gig seems unimportant if you’ve got sweat rolling down your butt crack. Rock’n’Roll

shoulderpet started following Do you use your “best” bass on gigs?
-
Yes, what's the point of having a best bass and not using it, I know for me using my best bass makes me more confident which makes me play better.
