Good old Beyer DT770s (or 990s for more money) do fat bass very well. Closed back cans will tend to give fuller bass, whereas open backs are more airy.

Takamine TB10 or DB10? What’s the difference?
sblueplanet replied to Rob MacKillop's topic in Bass Guitars
I think the DB10 played using the endpin in an upright position would prob suit a shorter player as opposed to a much larger double bass. -
It's always worth establishing a relationship with a luthier you trust and get on well with. Cos you never know when you might need them at short notice.

If i remember correclty Ernie has the copyright to the words "3 plus 1" but anybody can arrange the machine heads however they want on any bass (as long as the headstock shape isn't copy righted)

What was it before, as it doesn't seem terribly bad if there are 23 of us at £10, or maybe putting in a bit more for £15?

It's a knob fest! I do like the 80s contrasting neck through basses. Cool 😎

Really sad to hear this. Thanks for all your efforts on previous bashes Mike. Most enjoyable. Is there any possibility of looking into alternative venues. It would be hard to find a better hall but I’m sure lots of us will miss the bash!

What new gear should be produced?

I sent you a link to a Japanese Fender currently in stock at Guitar Guitar to give an indication of price compared to a US made example. -

This is the MXR Bass preamp. Super clean sound that allows you to the deliver a crystal clear DI (via XLR) as well as the standard TRS output. It doesn't have a baked in sound like may preamps but does have a really nice EQ with a sweepable mid control but it wont massively alter your tone. I used this with my HX Stomp to avoid the reported issues with XLR and Phantom power (The MXR can be powered by Phantom power I believe). The XLR can be set pre EQ which is great as it allowed me to tweak the EQ from my board without impacting the DI signal. There are a few chips in the paint but otherwise its in perfect working order, any questions let me know.

I'm selling this fantastic little compressor which offers by far the most functionality you will get in such a small package. Has controls for ratio, threshold, and makeup gain as well as hard / soft knee setting, fast and slow timing and a mix to dial in some of your clean signal. Lastly it has LED meeting to help you set the right amount of compression which I found really useful. This is a high quality compressor and I'm only selling as I have replaced my HX Stomp (I never liked the comps on that) with a DG Anagram. The compressors on the Anagram were updated a while ago but I have kept it until I was totally happy with them. This is one of the best pedals I have ever owned but its just sitting in the drawer so passing it on. I don't have the box but the pedal is in mint condition with on the bottom and will be well packaged for postage. I recommend watching a few reviews and checking out the Becos website and of course if you have any questions just drop me a note.

I know, I've got no real reason to want a 4/4 bass, bigger to store, bigger to transport, etc. But I'm quite tall and I love the look of doublebass without the endpin out miles. Is that a good enough reason? 😁

SimonK replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've seen some stuck in with double sided tape although wasn't sure if this was added in the factory or later. If you stick your hand right in side and give them a bit of a knock they normally loosen and come out. Just don't try to pull them from the outside as the lip will snap unless they have already loosened them up a bit. -
Same - I tried to check out but there was no way past ‘delivery options’ and so I couldn’t complete the purchase. Probably for the best looking at the size of the box 😁
