  1. Past hour
  2. What are you using the anagram for, Paddy? I feel like I've gone from loving the amp sims to battling with them!
  3. Thanks gents - appreciate the input. To clarify although the Zoom was connected, it wasn't actually providing any signal / output at the time of the noise. Similarly the other inputs (PC stereo in and bass via my Boss GX10 pedal) were connected but not in use. The set up had been connected with devices on standby for a couple of hours, whilst I was had been in another room, when the noise went off. Had happened on several previous occasions. Worryingly - it happened on the final two songs of our gig on Saturday night. Unfortunately the unit is now out of the 12 month A&H warranty having been bought as B-stock from Andertons 15 months back, who have a 3 months return policy on B-stock goods. I do otherwise love this A&H desk, not least the UI - has been a joy to use! So I have (foolishly?) sourced a second hand apparently vgc used A&H CQ12T as a back-up unit, which will allow me to get the CQ18T checked out by a local tech and/or A&H.
  4. The band leader is negotiating, but they think they are already paying enough. They actually pay us about half (so it's a very good night for them) and we make the rest up with the tips. This is a pay cut for us on a very successful money making night for them. I can't see us being there more than a few months longer.
  5. … think you may need to get a new spirit level, that Starlifter has been knocked off course when it went through the asteroid belt on re-entry Paddy 😁. Your prices are the keenest on the net my friend!!
  6. This is what I’m down to now and couldn’t be happier with it, Starlifter is immense and the Anagram does everything I could ask for really, only took me a net loss of about £2k buying selling pedals to arrive here 😁
  7. Gear4music are advertising it for £330, with expected delivery early Feb. Believe that hone I see it but I will jump on it if it happens. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Tech-21-SansAmp-Programmable-Bass-Driver-ELITE/7TVW There are a few video's up now. This one with Tim demonstrating the software side (although not with the Bass version). It looks configurable enough for me, without any Rabbit holes to go down.
  8. Friends often come along. My son is keen (he plays drums) but he's now living and working abroad. My wife has been to one gig since we got married (nearly 30 years ago).
  9. This was originally part of a 6-metre cable that I cut in half to make two 3m cables. Postage is £3 or £5 for next day.
  10. Sweet really interested in hearing some thoughts after hands on experience. It does sound like the things I enjoy in a preamp.
  11. Hey everyone, the necks are on their way to me and should be delivered tomorrow. I'll give them an inspection and, hopefully with all things being well, I can send them to the shipping warehouse before the end of this week.
  12. A lot of us seem to have the same experiences with this. One friend of mine has asked me every time I've seen him for the last 32 years how the band is going. "How's band life?" Is his favourite question. Every time I see him he says that he'll have to come along and see us play one night. He's got no concept. I've been in at least a dozen regular gigging bands in that time doing a vast variety of material, covers, originals, playing different instruments etc. My response is always the same, "Yeah, good, thanks. Busy as ever." I bumped into a former colleague last year that said to me that he was still intending to come see me play because him and his lad were such massive fans of the Blues Brothers. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I quit that tribute act in 2007. I go out and see friends' bands and I pay if it's ticketed!
  13. I bought a Dingwall Combustion from Paddy before Christmas. Communication throughout the process was amazing and as a new-to-5-string player, he gave some awesome advice as well. Would not hesitate to buy something from him again and neither should you, you're in good hands!
  14. If it helps I can probably print a square port of that approx size
  15. Something must be seriously wrong. Two years ago you were told it was almost finished and should be delivered in February 2024. I'll assume you've been speaking with Andrew since then; what's the reason you've been given ( if you're content to share)?
  16. Today
  17. I’m open to offers on these as I need them gone
  18. Need some cash for a few bits £120 postage included

  19. Interesting fact. Everyone's ear canals are different lengths and shapes (that should not come as a surprise) which means everyone hears things differently to everyone else. If you swapped your ears for someone else's, your brain would really struggle to understand what it was hearing. The same is true for eyes. What one person's eyes present to the brain as red is different to what someone else's do. Which is OK, because we calibrate our ears so that an F# is an F# no matter who you are. It does mean that one resonant frequency for one person would be different for someone else.
  20. When I ordered mine in May 2021, I paid £500 deposit and was only asked to pay the balance prior to shipment.
  21. Second hand Gigrig is good stuff. It's very low profile. You can pick up the units 2nd hand and then buy any specific connectors new. T-rex Chameleon fuel tank is a good option. I use both.
  22. Getting a good fit was always the problem with me - hence why I went down the custom route.
  23. Silly money for a proper amp. Glwts
  24. I would assume they arrange insurance elsewhere for the shipment.
  25. This cable uses genuine Neutrik SpeakONs and Sommer Meridien 2.5mm cable. It is 1.3 metres long. You will not find a better speaker cable. It will be fitted with a Velcro cable tie before sending. Postage is £4 for 48Hr, £5 for next day.
  26. What’s the best power supply unit to fit under a D’Addario XPND board please guys? Looking for the best bang for buck
  27. If you want to use a port with a square cross-section rather than a round one, I think you just need to make the length and the cross-section area the same. So if the area of the circle (pi * r^2) was say 25 cm^2 then a 5 x 5 cm square port of the same length should give you the same tuning. By ‘slot port’ I understand a slot in the baffle with no extra depth behind it and I believe the dimensions of that are harder to calculate correctly, especially if the slot is at one end of the baffle. Can you sketch what you had in mind, and is there a particular reason not to use a cylindrical port? Personally I’d just go with the latter, I found it easy enough to construct.
