If I say ‘to the Tuner above the amp’ is the QI klaxon going to go off?

The great thing about IEMs is that you can play several songs in a pub and not know you didn’t put the PA faders up till one of the band not wearing them tentatively says ‘it’s a bit quiet’…

Went to a friend's studio to train up a new trio drummer, and wondered for two hours why my TC Electronic Plethora Tone Print pedal was bypassing fine, but silent when switched on... I'd got the input and output cables plugged in back to front. Duh!

Also not a fan of flatwounds. They just feel wrong under my fingers and I'm not a fan of the tone in the slightest. If you like them, more power to you, but they're most certainly not for me. Precisions - love the tone. P-bass+rounds+pick = legendary sound. But not a fan of the look, dislike the feel, and I've never played one that balanced in a way that I'm comfortable with. Markbass heads - they were flavour of the month for a while and I dabbled with a Little Mark II back in the day. Found it a bit anaemic and underpowered, and kinda woolly-sounding (and that's with the VLE control turned all the way off). They also seem to break down a lot, and they don't fit them with universal voltage PSUs. Plus I'm not a fan of the gaudy yellow and green graphics. On the other hand, I like their cabs.

What’s the matter with you man? You can’t go around dropping the ‘S’ word so casually. Don’t you realise there’s a huge amount of people here who don’t believe in taking ‘a duplicate’ of anything! They’ve never needed it and it will never happen to them don’tcha know 😎😂 -

Noticed at half time that one of the PA tops wasn't showing the little blue power light. Waited until the rest of the band were looking the other way before flipping the switch on the back.....

Something like the Behringer Power Play would do what you need I think. I've used one for many years to amplify my double bass signal for my IEMs. https://www.thomann.co.uk/behringer_powerplay_p2.htm

Singer: PA sounds strange. Me: Cables? S: Yes, connected to PA and speaker. Me: Is the power ON? S: some words that cannot be used here.

Depending on the level of sophistication that you need, a plug-in wired headphone amp would probably be the simplest option. However, going wireless at the cheaper end of the market may give you distortion and latency problems. Going upmarket to a small mixer would give you the option of mixing in a backing track from you phone/pc etc. (I have a Behringer XENYX 302USB doing just this, and it is versatile enough to remove most of the bass from the track I want to play along to.) Some of the multi-fx pedals will also allow you to mix in an Aux signal, and include a tuner. The output jack socket doubles as a stereo headphone out and a mono line out. A dedicated bass trainer will do much the same, but probably with the option to slow down the track, or change its key. David

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Sounds a lot like a Boss Slicer, or at least some kind of harmonic rhythmic tremolo. This is a pattern on the original 2 pedal slicer (not sure it it's on the new smaller one, as lots of the patterns changed) that sounds exactly the same, so that's where my money is! -
I have a EHX Headphone Amp... more durable than those VoxAmp plug things, it works well after pedals etc. But is very sterile as no cab sim etc. https://spartanmusic.co.uk/products/electro-harmonix-headphone-amp Artec used to do an On-Board headphone amp, but again sound like an instrument, not an instrument into an amp, cab, in a room. Zoom B1 on or B1 Four - They can be as Complicated as ya like, Simple Quality Best Solution.

Always wondered what the cable going from the input over to the rear of the amp was for. 🤷♂️

Ok but he is clearly on top of the fret. @lvrossem hold the note down for as long as you want it to sound / it sounds naturally before buying and then release it faster. I keep my finger on it a moment longer to stop it ringing.

The Stingray thing? A brother from another mother there, Lozz, I bought three over the years just to be doubly, trebly sure...and I was right. Still don't like Jazzes, tho, but every bass I have has a Jazz width neck, so there's that. I bought an Alembic, an Overwater and a Sei (not all at once, I'm not made of money, it was over a couple of years) just to see what the fuss was about, and I didn't like them much...at least they're the sort of thing that if you buy carefully secondhand you can move on without losing much money for the experience...

From the Jam in weymouth, we went and sat in the hall outside, where it was quite a good volume. In your position, seeing as I am wireless I would have probably gone and stood outside, maybe the levels were better there!

Get on AliExpress and search "waterproof plastic case", usually something suitable. Most of the expensive camera cases and Pelican alternatives you see for sale are just rebranded generic boxes. Thomann have the TE1200 listed as 305 x 305 x 92 mm so shouldn't be too difficult finding something to fit. If you just want a bag then the Gator 1212 should be fine: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/gator-medium-bag-12-x-12/
