Great example of a great bass. I haven't owned a P bass since my first Hondo II P copy so bought this a year or so ago second hand to scratch that itch. Had it set up by a local luthier who changed the nut to a bone one and strung it with a set of light gauge Thomastik Infeld Strings I bought from one of the members here. I'm more of an active bass man and do have a lovely Jazz when I want to go old school, Also there's a new 4 string incoming so this is better off with someone who will use it. The price includes the flats, but happy to negotiate if someone wants the original rounds back on. Everything is working, it's nice and light and in very good condition. There are a couple of tiny marks on the back of the body and one on the front just above the top of the scratch plate. Prefer collection but happy to travel within an hour for a meetup - Essex, Suffolk, London, Herts etc. Would reluctantly post at your expense and insurance.

I’ve just bought a genzler Magellan 350 combo. It’s a separate head and a 10” array speaker. They are connected with a mount. Extremely compact and the tone is killer. As I see you have used genzler you know the tone and quality

StingRayBoy42 started following Bass VT DI or...?

Happy VTDI user here - I've used it for motown, reggae, jazz, edge of breakup indie rock, heavy rock, disco... it sounds fantastic for all of them. It's well made, it's compact, it's easy to dial in your sound(s), it's an absolutely cracking piece of kit all round. I've never used the other pedals recommended (I'm sure they're lovely too!) but I reckon if you do go for a VTDI, you'll be a happy bunny.
-
Black one but wasn’t too bothered as price was right & I always wanted to try one .. not tried the ones you mentioned but can maybe try compare to two chorus pedals I do have .. tbc

I went to a jazz jam session at a rehearsal room and the drummer ran it really well. We discussed each tune, organised the solos and played to the nod. Was brilliant fun. What I’m trying to say is that not all jazz jams are bad, they can be really good. I guess it depends on who sets the context.

For Sale Fishman Platinum Pro EQ/DI Preamp - £200 Fishman Platinum Pro EQ Preamp - this item was purchased from Gear4music on the 1st July 2025. It has been out of the box once for me to inspect it and check it was working after which it went back in it's box until this evening when it came out for the ad photos. My reason for selling is that I sold my previous rig (Grace Design Alix and Effectrode PC-2A) and then, realising that was a huge mistake, I was lucky enough to buy them both back. So essentially this is a brand new unused item. As I said, it's been out of the box twice and hasn't been out of my office since it arrived. Happy to post but, obviously, would prefer pickup or delivery to you (you'd be surprised how far I'll drive, try me). These units do not come with a power supply. If you have further questions or want more pictures please PM me. Mainly, it's that we disagree that sound engineers should be dictating what's on stage and in use. When I was touring, I rolled with 2 8x10's and that was that, I was happy to work with engineers but they didn't get to dictate terms to me. As an engineer now, I don't tell bands what they can and can't use on stage, I'm there to figure it out and make it work. Will I ask them to turn down? Sometimes, if I have to, but in a small venue, I'm just as likely to let them turn it up and just not have them in the PA.

I personally know musicians that literally won't even noodle for 5 minutes on a non Fender product. The OP didn't seem fussed at all when I asked,in fact he just calmly answered and everybody just moved on but you are entitled to your opinion. He only listed Fender type products in his original post.

I’ll be honest… I’ve never played a Sandberg that I didn’t love the feel of. So I completely understand what you’re saying about the neck and it feeling so effortless there is nothing to distract you from your playing. Since I got my VM4 at the start of the year none of my other basses have had a look in!

Well as I said, taste is subjective. -
-
As mentioned the Magellan preamp's volume doesn't affect the DI signal see: https://genzleramplification.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Magellan-PRE-Owners-Manual-1-1-2025-_web_version_.pdf Having since looked at a few others it does, however, seem that for a lot of them the "pre" isn't affected but the "post" is which may well be as expected.

You mean the traditional design Fender adopted? -
Thanks both of you. I really appreciate it. I have another gig this week that I’m leading on (my neice’s wedding), but after that I’m going to have to get the other to step up more. I need to speak to my boss too. I’m working on several massive projects at the moment. They’re doable, but just intensive, so not doing my mental health much good. Agreed to the second point. We’ve had a couple of technical rehearsals before, but the usual 4 hour slot just isn’t enough time to set up the full PA and drums and go through everything properly. I mentioned the other night about doing a longer all day session if we can in an appropriately sized room. It will make things much easier going forward if we have a better baseline to work from.

I realise anyone stating 'best bass I've ever played' is opening themselves to scepticism (but every bass player has played a 'best bass ever' even if they've only ever played one). I do find the rash of "have ever tried a bass that isn't a Fender" comments both patronising and a touch pathetic. In my own experience, I've played a lot of basses and my love for a 'different' feel means it's hard for me to call any if them 'best'. I do know that I've met many disappointing ones, and a few of those were Fenders but plenty have been 'elite' brands whose reputation didn't meet my expectations. It's so subjective though... more than once I've been offered a try of someone's pride and joy and found it totally alien to my tastes.
