  1. Past hour
  2. 13 year old Renault Mégane Sports Tourer, doing approx 6,000 miles a year.......£135.17 for the year.
  3. They hang a bit strangely with the neck strap button in the original position as they tilt forwards (assuming the same thing happens as on the Hohner B2). I have seen a picture of one (must have been a Hohner B2 as it was natural finish) with the strap button moved to the shoulder but never managed to find the picture again. You may find more useful information here:
  4. This is literally true though! The change in mass is given by the m in E = mc², where E is the electrical energy. You must have some amazing kitchen scales, however.
  5. Thanks Mick. Yes, it's an odd one. I can only put it down to the brand being so small and "boutique".
  6. This 100%
  7. The new Thunderbirds are very good...not to mention they have more than two or three finish options...but I still think the Classic Pros are number one. Not to mention, I'm a big fan of the black hardware and pickups...had a Alpine White one years ago. (Yeah, one of those basses I should've never sold.)
  8. A 15 year old Merc C350. The Saga quote would seem to be for an Aston though. About twice the next highest quote.
  9. Members of the Hallé playing works by Steve Reich, joined for one of them by Jonny Greenwood on bass. Superb music, which you don’t get to hear performed so often. The bass part wasn’t technically difficult, but God forbid you lost your place 😁
  10. Hmmm...not the first time I've looked at this...even though I am without a Spector I really can't justify another bass. GLWTS
  11. Yes I discovered his family name was Peakman and knew that he had issues with drinking. I wasn't going to share that but it seems it's well known out there already. Here is an article I found in our local paper about Lorne from 7 years ago. A video too. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/meet-ex-homeless-man-who-1304951 It's all very sad that he is no longer with us and I don't doubt that although I never knew him, I'll think of him everytime I pick the guitar up 🙂
  12. I play the Bass (es) I want to play on a gig I don't own any "new" instruments and most have scars - marks The bass the punters talk about is the L2 Steinberger - and that's all about it's appearance
  13. Picks are for guitarists- you’ll go blind
  14. JJ of Biffy throwing in a Gibby (Grabber/G3) to back Alanis’s bass players LP. Great sound too.
  15. Someone was looking for one on Facebook...I'll try to find their post...
  16. Tell me more! Thought the set and backing band were sensational! Great arrangements too!
  17. Tempting, but too far away. GLWTS.
  18. Not heard of "chestnut" ..tho I guess it's quite a common horse colour. I've black on my best ( arcus Carbon ) bow and white on my spare (wooden dorfler) Not a deal of difference, but new hair and good rosin are useful...and when bowing spiros you need all the grip you can get. Amusing fact... Stallion hair is apparently grippier than mare hair as the mares piss on their tales which polishes out the grip.
  19. The Hulla band is playing it's self organised festival tomorrow and today has been spent setting up the stage and sound, laying out the grounds and generally creating a decent venue. The day started with a large cooked breakfast and concluded with a short soundcheck and fish 'n' chips. Tomorrow I'm playing in two of the 7 band line-up. I'm doing a support slot with a splinter group from the main band followed a couple of hours later by a headline set (well, we do all the work) with the Hulla band. We have a new, purpose built and permanent stage on the village green and it's made a huge difference to the look and feel of the site, not to mention a generous increase in stage space. It's been a long day today and it'll be another long one tomorrow as I'm there from 10.30 as assistant stage manager and the Hulla band's sets tend to go on until the last punter leaves. 🙂
  20. Now when I first saw this I thought "this will sell quickly"...lovely colour, respected seller and great brand...how wrong I was!! That's twice now!!😉😉
  21. Quick update to say I'll be in Manchester this coming weekend, the 14th and 15th June, if anyone near there is keen and it'll save on delivery costs.
  22. who gives a toss about the name....they sound great imo 😘
  23. Of the 5 basses I own, I use different basses on different gigs for different reasons. And all of them bar one are difficult but not impossible to replace, and they're insured outside the house and in unlocked cars. Since I got my Wilcock Mullarkey its been my go-to for practice and my original/fun gigs (helps that its pink). However, for weddings I use my Serek Midwestern 5, as it does more conventional tones and I can get the low notes. My JMJ hasn't seen much action recently for no real reason other than I'm favouring the other two, but I have a couple of country gigs in August I've decided to use it for as it looks more the part. My Acinonyx is great but has such a unique sound I'm yet to find exactly where to use it. My Callowhill MPB 5 is truly irreplaceable, as Tim passed away shortly after I got it. I keep it mainly for sentimental reasons, as it has been superseded by the Serek as my main 5. I have some great basses and I enjoy playing them, so I find reasons to use them.
