  1. Past hour
  2. Agreed Mick, Whilst the SMX series added some useful bells and whistles such as compression and a blendable valve/solid state preamp, the Series 6 has a certain immediate clarity with clout never bettered by Trace Elliot.
  3. Those puns - I am laughing myself hoarse!
  4. Yep, 'twas my Markbass TA503, that I still own. Thanks for the kind words mate.
  5. Just make sure no monies are owed, either way... or kit loaned, ìn or out.
  6. Logic suggests there should be a better tonal balance, experience (which in my case is a Yammy BB400 fretless & a Washburn SB40 P/J) doesn't really demonstrate much appreciable difference. I sold the Yam because I couldn't get the fretless tone I wanted with a P pickup. There's probably an argument for it on a 2x P, or any bass with the pickup closer to the bridge than normal, but I dunno. I quite like the look.
  7. My old band went through many iterations before I found it all somewhat exasperating and jumped. Reckon we may have got up to A (me, obvs), D (second drummer), H (third guitarist) and L (third singer) before things really hit the fan. L decided he didn't think D was any good and argued that we should try out ¥ (a drummer we all knew), to prove a point. So we did, but ¥ wasn't remotely interested in joining, but L thought ¥ would. A knew ¥ wouldn't. A knew D was a bit crap and H was on the fence, but L decided D needed to go and said A needed to tell him. So A told him. It was horrible for A. A then found a new drummer through Facebook (let's call him P) and he was a great player, although Ps raison d'etre was primarily for shagging audience members even while his wife was there. 'Where's P,' she'd say, 'Have you seen him?' L started to make life difficult for A, despite A writing the bulk of the material, and A left, eventually being replaced by Q, R and S, before the band imploded.
  8. Profile is quite shallow nut width just over 41mm
  9. I've seen some horror stories, broken headstocks, heels etc.
  10. That sounds like all kinds of wrong, but if that information has come from the manufacturer... The original MIDI spec uses the pins 4 and 5 to transmit the data and pin 2 is a ground/shield for the data transmission, but is generally disconnected at the input end of a MIDI link to prevent ground loops between the audio and data connections. Edit: Just had a look at the Meris device in question. It looks as though it uses a quarter-inch jack for the MIDI connection which is a slight plus, but even though there is probably room for a proper DIN socket for the MIDI in they have elected to use a jack so it can be dual function: expression pedal or MIDI. What do you do if you want to use an expression pedal and have external MIDI control?
  11. I've been out of the loop somewhat. Didn't know he'd gone. RIP, Nick.
  12. Based on the only other one I can see for sale it looks to be around 4.1Kg / 9lbs Pretty good for a P with a d-tuner 😉
  13. The bass tunes down half an octave as well
  14. Scale? Active bypass? Thanks. Can view most times..
  15. Far Cry - Rush
  16. I have an Ibanez EHB1005SMS that I like, but I don't love. I like the feel and ergonomics (the neck is lovely, and the whole bass is light and balances well), but it has issues: The infamous, dark-sounding Barts; lacklustre preamp, which I always have difficulty dialling in (possibly due to the Barts themselves); and as for the glow in the dark fret markers... pointless. But also, I wonder if I made the right decision in getting the short-scale version (30"-32"). The shorter scale is a joy to play, but somewhat goes against one of the purposes of a multi-scale, the low B. I could replace the pickups, but the recommended replacements (Nords) are a custom order and not exactly cheap, and I still may end up with a bass I don't love. I like what I see and hear about the Hils basses, particularly the NEXT HNB5. Does anyone have any experience with the Bart-equipped EHB and the Hils that can shed some light?
  17. Thsat's a pre-amp to build your rig around, if it sounds as good as their anaolgue pedals it will be amazing. But......... I feel it's already out dated, a moddler pedal that has only 1 pre-amp? It's kinda like taking an HX stomp, stripping out all of the pre-amps, all of the amps, all of the cab sims, most of the effects, ALL of the guitar stuff, a whole bunch of functionality and not replacing it anything. I can see that they'll be some people who will like the format and love the Sansamp tone. A fully programable pre-amp is an excellent idea, depending on the price point it might be an excellent product, but feels like a backward step comparedf to what's out there. Respect to Sansamp for breaking their mould! I'll 100% try it hen it comes out though I cannot see a use for it myself. YMMV
  18. That was your cunning plan all along wasn't it! Beautifully executed in a marvellously Machiavellian way
  19. Another friend of the band rocked up with his trumpet, jumped in for a couple of songs and absolutely blew the roof off. He also stood on the end of the line and hogged the camera angle! Here's a quick clip:
  20. I recently purchased this from a small solo builder. Fantastic build quality and to my ears it's identical to the Darkglass I had. I had no need for a DI like the original, this doesn't have one. So it's just a killer dirt box. It was a kind of impulse purchase for me, as awesome as it is I've really no use for it sadly (I can get similar with what I already have) . I put it on my board but it's had very little use so it's as new. £93 posted. Always happy to hear trades w.h.y(possibly another vintage micro tubes)👍 I forgot to take a pic, but I've put fresh pedal tape on the bottom (I can remove if needed)
  21. It's -5° right now and will be colder by Friday. Daryl
  22. I thought Martin had finished writing Game Of Thrones?
  23. I'd suggest you don't use your own cable as if the problem repeats they could argue that it's the cable not the socket that's at fault, before you go request they use one of their cables to demonstrate it's all working OK 👍
