Does your singer provide the mic and the wedges?

Stage rig - preamp pedal(s) into IEM! I've owned 8 and 12 string basses and had all of the usual debates and trials re. how to amplify and tbh as soon as you start putting it through PA systems without your own engineer, it's bordering on being a waste of time (IMHO). On stage I've run bi-amp systems with active crossovers etc. I've also run a guitar rig AND a bass rig from an active crossover but when you are standing 'on stage' you are then looking at having to wear ear plugs/protection and you have the guitarist(s), drums etc to mush up the sound; what's the point of having all of this lovely crossed over/split EQ'd independently tone and it sounds no different to a well EQ'd mono signal? I certainly didn't hear any benefit and as soon as you start talking to in-house engineers about bi-amped sounds etc. most of them have very little interest especially if you are on multi-band gigs. Sorry but this is just my experience; it'll be different if you are the band paying big wages with control over big concert rigs (see Cheap Trick/Kings X/Pearl Jam).

That's a bit odd, pages 864 and 865 are displaying identical content. Anyroadup, Saturday was another dep for the Bonnevilles, who are still trying to get an answer from their current bassist about his intentions. Back to the Anker Inn in Nuneaton, which was not exactly rammed but it was a pretty good audience. Usual gear and footwear.

I would be there in a shot if I could, who said the dinosaurs are extinct?

Simon bought an iPad Focusrite dock from me. All good, paid quickly and good comms. Thank you. John

I'm very disappointed. 🤣 That was less than 2 hours! I've spent weeks/months on it! Go back and have another go! 🤣

Thanks Dave, she's quite a find. I used to do a bit of noodling over the intro to this, but now I resist the temptation to get in the way, stand back and enjoy.

Ah ok. In my experience it's been the guitarist who wants to stick with backline and "real amps" which, tbf, I can completely understand. Whereas singers, in my experience, generally jump at using IEMs as they can hear themselves really well and only have acoustic drums on stage blaring out. Particularly helped if the desk has really decent preamps which our CQ kit does (a noticeable step up from my previous Soundcraft MTK12). The combination of having a personalised mix at the volume we each want (potentially also giving much less damage to our hearing?), decent IEM earpieces, and quality desk preamps has made the gigging experience a much more enjoyable one for me, and I'm blessed that my current crew (7 of us, in total, on rotation) are all totally on board and very happy with IEMs. I guess I could probably say I'm a convert, haha, having switched to IEMs for the last couple of years whilst previously regularly gigging with amps and monitors for a much longer while before that.

I love mine. It's so eady to play and dounds so good it does any gig where I want a stress free time. Suits Fender 7250 nickel plated strings really well. I spent a good while tweaking the relicing to look more natural and checked it with freezer spray. Bought as a cheap way to get a great early-60s style bass. Relic/signature were not sought but aren't an issue, in fact I love the relaxed played-in feel. -

Tbh the clear guard is spoiling a lovely bass imho. It looks as if the protective film is still on it... peel it off and it could look much better. A pearloid one could look good on that.

But let’s not forget the “Crap fake capacitor scandal “ a few years ago. Where copy’s of Nichicon and Elna and Rubycon and Panasonic were flooding the market that caused no end of issues…that hasn’t helped consumer confidence

I surrender! I think the 150k value makes it particularly difficult, I can find all the elements but not in the same unit. If I was doing this I would probably use a long plastic shaft pot and fit a tube around the shaft to help support it. Sorry I can't help
