What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...
bnt replied to kwmlondon's topic in General Discussion
^ that sounds like the guy Steven Wilson is singing about in Luminol, as he describes here. I previously commented on my irrational dislike for "the street" as a place, and busking ("street music") falls under that heading: it doesn't do anything for me. This even extends to the kind of "Live Music" I see advertised outside pubs here in Dublin. Just "Live Music", no elaboration required. It's basically busking indoors: the same old songs, played with no feel, just blasted out in to the ears of drunk people. The last time I found myself in such a place, late on a Friday night, I lasted about 1/2h before I made my excuses and bolted for the door. -

I think it is an example of trying to keep their headline rate down while still having increased income. Something AirBnB, budget airlines (among many others) do wherein the headline cost is quite low to attract the business but then they hit you with all the extra charges. I think the trick is to ensure the extra charges slide under the radar becasuse if they get publicly exposed - like here - there is a PR beating! Thus said I wonder if they would have got away with maybe a 5% charge with less criticism...

High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a Cioks DC7 or a GigRig QMX4 involved.

I have no basses or guitars with roasted necks, but I do have 2 cents about Music Man necks moving: I had a Stingray 5 which was very susceptible to changes in humidity, and would move quite a bit with the change of the seasons, but it got a LOT more stable when I had the neck re-waxed by my favourite luthier. The Music Man necks are oiled / waxed rather than lacquered, which should seal the wood just the same against humidity, but unlike lacquer an oiled / waxed neck does require regular maintenance.

There used to be loads of them kicking around Birmingham in the early '80s....my ignorant 13 year old self used to be quite sniffy about them! There was always a few in Musical Exchanges The Broad St Musical Exchanges had a Super Yob in the window for a while in 81/82. -

I have found wedding venues to be greedy without shame. Even some of the staff are on the "take" - that kind of greed culture breeds more of the same. For example, if a waiter knows the boss/manager is taking a slice (£) they will try it too, although will be more careful about it. Personally I avoid playing weddings, way too messy, all that emotion, bad tempered/stressed guests etc. Also the band are supposed to keep mouth shut and take the abuse as it's someone's "special day" when normally the band would respond in kind.

I love basements! Can I buy yours when you're moving on please? -
That's one I'd like to see. I will wait 'till April or May to decide. I had made a tentative arrangement to car pool but a recent MoT failure* has cast some doubt as to whether I can afford to fix it by then. * If anyone can supply me with a replacement exhaust system for a Corolla T-Sport Compressor - for cost, I am willing to be their house-boy for a whole month (Any February except during leap years. Ts&Cs apply).

I've had the same problem with DMX where the protocols are changed and all you have is an out of date manual. It's the problem with a lot of the Chinese made stuff, they make a batch and send it out and then decide to add extras not allowing for users needs. Mind you buying from the brands you find model ranges change frequently. I now make a quick decison and if I like a light and want a pair or whatever I order the second as soon as possible. I have to confess my DMX controller is largely unused and I tend to only use the internal programmes. I don't want my lights to be as big a job to set up as my PA. DMX for me means I can pair my lights with one as slave, this halves my set up time. The problem is usually with access to the built in chases and so on. If you've 256 onboard presets and each has a different code then trial and error is going to be challenging. Using fewer DMX channel modes keeps it simpler I've found and 3channel mode usually gives you control of RGB. All my lights are RGB to date though to keep this simple but I love the colours with RGBW
